- bloodyhellthese are for sure a scammer, i never posted my number anywhere, i have been called from cali about the warrantee on my vehicle i have never owned running out, and about 6 other fraudulent data mining crap, CRTC... what you think that bought and payed for self-appointed body whos board either is was or will be in the employ of telecommunication companies really going to do?
Nothing is what they will do, tho a big show may be made of 1 insignificant rogue co, the big ones are quite safe, loop-holes are put in for a reason and this is one of them, call our unlisted cell phones, see if we answer, then sell the info to other cos.
If you take the call cause like me you have unlimited time at certain hrs, keep pestering them with the legality of the call, keep them on the phone so they cant get to someone else. It can be quite entertaining to start cussing at them as well, just sound mad, but don't get mad just enjoy the release.- Call type: Survey
- BloodyhellThis I found interesting:
http://www.surveysampler.com/cell_phone_samples.html
I quote "ASDE can help you with cell phone samples in the US and Canada. Since cell phone directories of current numbers do not exist we create cell phone samples from the list of existing dedicated cell phone exchanges. By generating random numbers from the dedicated cell phone exchanges our clients have experienced a connection rate in the range of 50-55%."- Caller: asde

- Sarah| 4 repliesHow many people on here have a Telus cellphone? Until now, I have NEVER received any unsolicited calls on a cellphone. I just got a new Telus cell a couple of weeks ago. If most of the people here are getting the calls on their cell, and the message itself indicates you may be on your cell phone when taking this call (NEVER heard of this statement from a telemarketer/surveyor before), then methinks the only way they presume you are on a cell is because they KNOW they are calling a cell.
Although I love Telus, and their plans, methinks they sold my number. My husband is also with Telus and is getting similar calls too. We also bought our phones through Best Buy (in Canada), in case that was a factor (they set up the phones with the cell company you choose so presumably they would have all of your personal data at some point in the transaction).
So just out of curiousity, how many people here are Telus/Best Buy customers? - GilI received a call on my cell phone on 25 August 2011 at 6:36 pm.

- Mike2 hours after putting my mobile number into Google for a security reason, number called my cell.
Google is leaking out mobile cell numbers to these people. - Not Just Telus replies to SarahMy phone is with Bell, had the number with them for years. So it isn't just Telus
- zigActive on the west coast this week: Another PQ-based scammer, only these cretins are calling cell phone numbers - at our expense. We know why most of the scam telemarketing calls about so-called surveys, lottery wins, free seven day cruises, credit card frauds, all originate from Quebec. Charest has agreed not to intervene, not to investigate, not to prosecute, as long as they don't target their fellow Quebecois. So the calls are all out of province and the provincial authorities look the other way.
Our only hope is that these scumbags stupidly target Americans because US authorities WILL take action.- Call type: Telemarketer
- zig replies to SarahTelus admits they sells active numbers. It's a money-maker. Complaining does no good; it will require CRTC action before Telus will pay attention.
Although I did not buy my cell at Best Buy, within days of having the phone activated, several Quebec-based telemarketing firms came a-callin'. - zig replies to ASDEIt doesn't matter how often you claim to be a survey company, you are in fact a predatory scam artist telemarketing illegally to cell phone numbers - at our cost.
When you say the market research industy is self-regulating, you come to the real problem in dealing with tele-fraud artists: there are no regulations protecting the public from people like you, and there needs to be.
When you say the industry subscribes to the highest standards, this suggests you either don't know how to read, haven't bothered to bone up on the history of your distasteful industry, or are intentionally lying. The body of evidence showing your industry to be involved in the most predatory of business practices targetting the most vulnerable in our communities is as vast and deep as the oceans. - G replies to Charlie brownIf it WERE such a call, they'd leave a message.
