- kmanswered a cold call from this number and they started spouting my personal information, name and physical address (which, by the way, they would have had to do some considerable digging for) and stated this was a personal call. I asked who they were and why they were calling and they again stated my physical address and (a version of) my name. refused to tell me why they were calling. i told her i don't know anyone with the NRA and hung up.
called the # back after reverse searching the number online, and spoke with a representative who again spat out my name and address and, after SEVERAL repeated requests, verified they are the NRA (a debt collection agency, NOT the National Rifle Association as i had thought) and they are calling regarding a "debt" for the Hamilton company that I had ordered (oh, about six years ago...), received the item broken and sent it back for a replacement or refund. I received a letter apologizing for the damage to the item and that was that. and now random collection agency is calling, wanting me to pay THEM for it.
I called the "NRA" again to request that they send me something in writing proving that I owed the debt, which, according to the FTC they are required to send within five days of first contact, and the representative HUNG UP ON ME- Caller: NRA
- Call type: Debt collector
- ivyreceived call from woman stating my name and full physical address, who said it was a personal matter. i had to ask several times to get a company name and all she gave me was NRA.
looked up online they are not the national rifle association, just a junk debt collector
when i called back to request that they send me something proving i owe whatever debt they have on file for me. i told the representative to stop calling and send me written proof of the debt to the address they OBVIOUSLY have on file and she hung up on me
**also calls from several other numbers 801/364-0778 and 801/364-0777, refuses to leave message or state who is calling or why- Caller: NRA

- RachelJust got this call too asking for my husband trying to verify an old address as a current address. I asked what it was in regards to and they wouldn't give me any information until they could confirm they were speaking with the correct person. I told her I wasn't giving her any information until I knew what the call was on regards to. She said "ma'am I'm not trying to get hostile with you I'm just trying to do my job and I need to confirm if this state is correct" I said "ma'am I'm not trying to give out any personal information until I know the nature of this call and who you are" she said "the nature of this call is a personal matter (for my husband) and I'm Latasha with NRA group. I hung up.

- Let me tell you something| 3 repliesYou guys are idiots. You ask how to get them to quit calling you?! PAY YOUR BILL. They are doing their part to keep the economy going. Put it this way....there are so many people out there that do not pay their bills because why?! Most of you are not even saying you don't have the money, most of you are saying that you refuse to pay it. Okay, so when so many people don't pay their...let's say....electric bill....the electric company is losing out on money, because people are not paying it....SO the electric company has to raise their prices on electric to make up for the difference...which SCREWS everyone that pays their bills over. So...a debt collection company is trying to get their client's money back, so that the prices are not rising all the time. They are not bad people in any means...they are helping the economy. And for all you people who think you know it all...not all debt collection companies buy the debt. They get paid a certain fee for collecting the money...besides the fee...all the money goes back to their client. Also, just because statute of limitations may have passed, it doesn't mean that they cannot call you, it simply means that they cannot pursue litigation on the debt. They can still call you. And just because you ask them to quit calling, they do not have to...there is no "do not call list" for them. They do not have to prove that you owe the bill within 5 days either. The ONLY way THEY have to prove that you owe the bill is if you ask via writing within the first 30 days after you receive the first contact. If not, then it is up to YOU to prove that you do not owe the bill. If you don't want them calling you, pay your bill. If you don't feel you owe a bill...prove it. If you can't, well...welcome to collections :)
- JimKeep getting calls from this place - funny thing is they're calling my Google Voice account, which isn't tied to a phone, so I never get the message or get to pick up the call. I found six calls over the past three months in my Spam folder, all from this number.
- Maryann MullenCall three times daily/Person from India says "Calling about yourcomputer!"
- KLINCjust recd, another call, they call constantly and never leave a msg. i answered this time, and the recording asked for me and if it was me to push 1. so i did and a woman got on and said this call is being recorded. and asked if she was speaking to me. i said before you go any further, i am also recording this call for my attorney. she said she did not give me permission to record and i said i didn't give you permission to record and......guess what???

- GeorgeYou do not have to answer, or deal with these People. I have been avoiding these kind of People for 10 Years. Under $1000 an they can not even take you to court. Don't answer or they will have their hooks in you. These Companys buy up old debts and try to collect even when the statute of Limitations has run out on the Monies owed. I am so in debit, I started a book 5 Years ago to help People with these type of Agencies. New book will be called Don't answer that call.

- Georganne R.According to what I've read here, this is a collection agency that buys up old debts that have gone past the limitation time. Or they just call numbers, many times the last number that they had or were given for a past debt, real or not. They haven't left a message and we never answer 800/888/877, toll free or unidentified numbers. Our answering service is robotic in nature so no names/numbers or identifying details are given. I just don't answer and even if they do leave a message, I erase it with the number. Why these pond scum companies continue to operate is beyond me.
- 3-4 close the doorReceived a call from this # , a computer voice answered and said "wait for a rep". then a real voice came on and said this call is being recorded. I then said to the lady that I was recording them too! They hung up so FAST .....I cracked up laughing

- RHGot a call from this number last night with no voice mail left. Called them back at 10am today and got "all agents are currently busy". Waited for a second and got connected with a "hello". Told them that i had received a call last night from this number and was calling to inquire about the nature of the call. Was told they are looking for someone and told them that they have the wrong number. She said that I would be removed from call list. wasnt over rude or anything but from what ive been reading here and at other sites ill be expecting another call from them. Also they didnt tell me who they are or what company they are working for.

- MarkThey called looking to talk to someone I know, am not on good terms with and have not had contact with for several years. The refused to identify the company name, purpose for the call but wanted to talk to this person. We had juts received a call from a Clarksburg, WV number of a similar nature, that number was 304-931-4365. They instructed that to talk to an agent, press a digit and after my g/f was on hold for over 15 min, the call was disconnected. They too would not identify who they were or what their purpose was either. Google says it is a collection agency.
- Mark replies to Let me tell you somethingNot all the people they're calling owe anyone anything. I pay MY bills, no one else's ordinarily.
- DrJust tell them you are recording the call to put on the Internet and they will stop harassing you. That's what I did. haha
- Caller: NRA Group
- DR replies to Let me tell you somethingHow are we idiots? Do you work for these [***]? I don't owe a freaking dime to any collection agencies. Just because my number came up in their system doesn't mean that I owe a cent to these weasels.
I recommend everyone that receives a call from these thugs to record the conversations for future litigation. Especially if the company continues harassing the people on their lists. I have a youtube page where I post these conversations. I send them to my states Attorney General. If the calls continue I will hire a lawyer to take down these "idiots" for harassing me.
Sounds like you need to get another job "Let me tell you something". Helping the economy? Oh please, what kind of BS is swirling in your head. We aren't living in the "Great Depression" era you moron. And if the statute of limitations has passed and they are calling the wrong person then that in itself is a form of harassment. You can scream this from the back of your pick-up truck all day. In the end you are wrong. And you are an IDIOT for defending these companies.
