If they are calling the wrong number, go the website and submit and inquiry asking to be removed. i am sure they dont want to waste their time calling the wrong number. Or call back and tell them its a wrong number. You will be suprised what cooperation will get you. It's not all bad. Dont blame them, blame the people that force companies to place debts in collections to keep their costs down so they dont pass the cost on to you.
The do not call list does not apply to the collection industry.
They also have laws to follow that prevents them from identifying themselves and the purpose of their call to anyone but the debtor.
Please do not be misinformed.

Person wouldn't identify themselves only to say they were the NRA..I asked what that was and they said rudely...it's an acronym to protect our privacy..and asked my name..i asked what it stood for and they repeatedly asked my name..i asked what this call regarded and they refused to tell me,,,very rude tone..then the guy laughs and hangs up on me...the guy is a major prick.

I got a phone call from this number, but they asked for my neighbor and said that they were a collection agency.  Stunned, I just hung up the phone.  She is going through some "money" issues right now, so I didn't want to give them her cell phone number. She had her land line phone disconnected. I am sure they are going to keep calling me....eventually I am going to have to tell them her cell number!!

National recovery agency is who they claim to be. I have had them call me many times and I have requested in writing the bill they say I owe but paid years ago.. Advised would send them a copy of the cancelled check but funny how I never get anything in the mail. This last time today told them unless they can send me something in writing do not call me again. Its a scam folks!

This Company Calls My house five times a week from al difrent numbers so what I did was I called comcast about there rejection service- it's free so every time they call here I put them on my list so when they call it says "the number you have reached is not in service" and then it hangs up. These people are so annoying, they say I owe money on a Chase Visa Card account on an investment property "flip" a house I sold 7 years ago.

first call was from them.  i was hung up on after i requested identification from the caller.  i called back seeking information which was denied.  now, a week later, i tried calling them again.  when the call receiver refused identity, i informed them that i would be calling the state's attny general.  (having just become a victim of i.d. theft, i am very wary of many things.)  the man on the other line said "there is no need to threaten me this early in the morning."  he then hung up on me again.  i have requested the appropriate forms from the state's attny general consumer protection division.

Got a call yesterday from them to ask for a master number..well no one picked up the phone.  but I did file with the do not ccall list again

They left a message once again from "Jennifer". They call every other night past 7pm. I have never answer but they do leave messages but they message has 3 different peoples voices! How lame!

They call me and say that I owe 94.00 from 2003 for a book. I have no recollection of ordering any type of books.

This company has been calling me for months on both my regular phone and my fax line, I have called many, many times to ask them to stop and they have assured me they have taken my number off their list but continue to call and when I question why they are still calling they are extremely rude and accuse me of being unreasonable

They just called me at 8am! I live in Pittsburghm we just won the superbowl, i was up late! He asks for my husband, i say may i ask who is calling. Very rudely states this is a very important call please have him call us. Im thinking all these bad things! Then i found this website and see I could of had a heart attack for nothing!

i have a lot of the same problems most of you have experienced i have spent all day researching this company 1 800 814 6580 national recovery agency 2491 Paxton street Harrisburg pa 17111   i have contacted Dave Ramseys office who informed me this is a scam company and should avoid giving the company any information over the phone i called the federal trade commission and filed a formal complaint which i advise everyone to do (www.ftc complaint assistant . gov) they will give you a reference number it is very important you file a complaint with them. i also called the BBB in Harrisburg i would advise people call there as well ( 1 717 364 3250 push #3)I also called (Dennis Butterbaugh) (consumer reporter) at (ABC 27 news) (1 717 236 1444) i would also advise calling him.  last but not least i called (Steven Reed ) (the mayor of Harrisburg)office talked to a secretary informed her of the situation got no where the #for the mayors office is (1 717 255 3040)i would advise everyone on this website to call all of these numbers and continually complain. nothing will get done and no one will do anything unless multiple complaints are made i advise everyone please let your voices be heard to stop these harassing and abusive people.

I finally was able to speak to a person who stated that they are collecting on a debt from 2000 from Columbia House.  Because I can't recall if I owe Columbia House money or not, and this has been placed on my credit report I agreed to pay if they remove it from my report.  I haven't heard anything back since- declinig or accepting the offer

to the person who replied on feb 24th  i would pay the national recovery nothing. they most likely will not make a deal of any kind with you. i would not hold  my breath for a response from them. if you dont think you owe the money you probably dont . i would demand a copy of the original bill. they have 7 days to respond to you. if they dont respond send a cease and desist letter to the following addresses #1 national recovery agency  2491 paxton street  harrisburg pa 17111   #2 jill e. m. and steven c kusic   2307 abbey lane  harrisburg pa 17112. make sure you send it cirtified mail so you have signatures . i did it and it works. if they contact you after that you can sue them under the fair collection debt act.   i would also contact  the credit bureaus and file a complaint against the (nra) and tell the credit bureaus the company refuses to send you a copy of the original bill.the credit bureaus will usually work with you especially if it could be a bogus bill.this is technically a valid company . but these pond scum dig up ancient history bills from god knows where from companies that have written off these bills and try to make what they can off of them. that is why they dont have copies of the original bills. but what they dont tell the people they are trying to collect from is its illegal for them to try and collect a debt that has already been written off by the original company, and they cant collect a debt they cant provide an original receipt for . i am begging you  not to make any deals with them for a bill you may not owe. please write and call all 3 credit bureaus . they will help you i promise.  and write the cease and desist orders i gave you the addresses for. but give them no money. they are scum.if you dont think you owe columbia you most likely dont.  they just like to get your goat and try to scare you. dont let them . stand up for yourself dont let them get away with this harassment.

This company keeps calling me at all hours of the day, I have asked them to stop and they were very rude and they keep calling both on my home phone and my fax number.  This has been going on for months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Called and gave them master # and they asked if I was Mrs. xxxxx.  Which, I am not and they asked if that would be a wrong #.  I responded, "correct" and they guy hung up.

I got a phone call from them today...telling me they were calling on behalf of Columbia House. Little did they know that last week I received another call from a group called "Taggard" for a supposed Columbia House debt. I haven't had an account with Columbia House for close to 12-15 years! Here they had an address from 3 houses ago, and supposedly the shipments were recent. So to make a long story short, I explained my story to Columbia House, they removed the past due amount, and all was cleared with the Taggard Group. And Columbia House verified that Taggard Group was the proper debt collection agency. Now a week later this other company calls to tell me I have to pay them! Told me to prove I never got the DVD's...how do you prove you never got anything? Wanted my new address, I refused to give it to him! My husband ended up taking the phone off of me...threatened him with harassment and hung up. I called Columbia House again and they confirmed that my account was paid in full with them. So I called back this bogus number, got their mailing address and will be filing a suit with the Attorney's General Office...for sure!

If they are calling to collect on a debt from 2000, it is most likely, 99.5% likely, it is past the statue of limitations and tell them this. They love to get someone on the line that does not know this and will pay. It is also unlawful for them to call you if you send them a cease and desist letter, probably a fine to them of $1000 to continue to call you.

They don't give up, do they? This number calls here at least 5 times a day.
I will answer it next time and threaten them with the states attorney.
