They call from the 800 number then redirect you to 972.954.2146. this number is registered to  Teleport Communications Group. This group is out of Richardson Texas.

Got this call as well. It's a SCAM. Only now the Caller ID says US Internal Revenue Services. And the 1040 suffix is only going to scare people into thinking it's legit, but it's not. Same robocall I've gotten from about 15 different numbers over the past 6 months. They never identify you by name.

I received a call from 800-829-1040 and they had thick Indian Accents saying I owed 13,000 and I had to pay right now. I could not hang up or put them on hold. They confirmed my name my address and last 4 of my social. I was able to get them off the phone only when I told them I had to call my brother to get money and that's the only way they were getting paid. I called and after 15 minutes got the IRS on the phone who confirmed that this was a scan and that if there was money owed they would be sending a 1st class mail to me and would never call. Whey the indian guys called back I told them who I had spoken with and that I was filing a report with the treasury dept and through out all I was telling themthe guy was trying to talk over me and I hung up. I am very upset and wanted to share my story.

Got a call from  a certain Kevin Mason claiming to be from the IRS. The number on the caller ID appears to be the IRS main number 800-829-1040.  The caller had an Indian accent and was very threatening saying the magistrate was out to get me unless I pay the taxes I owed. I played along and was connected to another person with an Indian accent. I told the guy Mr Patel -stop calling me. He hung up on me.

I answered the call, it paused a second and then an automated message said that I was going to be sued by the IRS, press 1 to talk to someone, press 2 if you want to be sued. I waited to see I'd be automatically connected or if it would replay the message, but it just hung up by itself.

Thank for the advise. My account had told me about these bums, I gave him this number. Then these scammer have called me at least 4 more times this time I keep a record of the calls and told my accountant. Thank you

these clowns have called me and I never answer the phone. I heard of people doing this and some people have sent money to these bums. But my buddy Al told me not answer the phone for these people are out to get you the bozo's

Received a call at 8:13 am Central Standard Time stating that I needed to press 1 to begin to discuss the amount I owe or press 2 for immediate issuance of a warrant for my imprisonment. I pressed 2 and the phone line disconnected me.

I got a call at 5.30pm today in Louisiana.  When I answered the caller, a recording, said "this call is intended for you."  How stupid.  No name to verify he was speaking to the right person.  This call ends with instruction to press 1 if you would like to discuss this matter, or 2 if you prefer legal action.  I pressed 2.  This is such a stupid ignorant call that should not alarm anyone.  I have been getting these calls for over a year, and nothing happens.  I am told I must appear before a magistrate.  No information about where, when or for what.  Ignore these calls.

I hung up.  The scary thing is the Caller ID number appears to be legit, so they managed to spoof that number.

This is another IRS scam, but the crooks took it one step further: if you call back, you get a recording which very well imitates an official IRS automatic answering message.

i called 800-829-1040 back when i got a missed call from this number. after a long wait, a worker from irs answered, giving a warning that this is a SCAM. the lady said this number does belong to irs but they do not call you. i have no idea how the fraud can do this. but they obviously steal the original irs contact number to reach you and pretend they are with irs. so do not ever respond.

I keep getting this call also and I don't owe any more to IRS

Got another call today wanted to know if I wanted to speak to a federal attorney to settle my case. The number appears as a legit call from the IRS, its not. Contacted the IRS no issues with my taxes, if you get this call don't give them any information it's a SCAM

Keep calling stating we owe back taxes and wanted me to pay over phone.  I don't owe taxes and this is a sham.

Someone from this number called at 5AM but when
I very groggily answered they hung up.

Just don't take the call-they;ll get tired and give up.....Irs never ever calls,they have helplines that can b founf online where u can call,,,,,,,

I got the same asked me if I had federal attorney and if not would you like to speak with one they told me to go to bank and take out money and I was so upset they told me to calm down and when I go into bank don't tell anybody how I am talking to or they want be able to help me and I would be arrested and expedited to Washington dc and get sent to federal prison so I went into navy federal were I bank and wrote a hand note telling them that I had someone on the line that told me to come in and get money that I couldn't tell anyone she was really nice in helping me out the law was called and they were told by the officer never to call my number again
