These people are relentless. Received 4 calls yesterday within 3 hours, and a call today at 6:56 am!! This is getting out of control.

Though it is their real number, it is being spoofed.  The IRS contacts you through postal mail rather than by phone.

Never,never,never call back one of these numbers.  One scam is to get you to call back a number that has large per minute fees and the scammer loves to keep you on the phone as long as possible.
some scams I've investigated had a 20.00 dollar per minute fee.  Resist the temptation.

Call claiming to have a complaint on me.

Received call from this 800-829-1040. Did not answer it. Voice mail informed me that I was part of a criminal investigation and to call 202-800-????. Told me if I did not call back all they could tell me is good luck.

This is a legitimate IRS number, but it was spoofed. The caller claimed to be from the IRS and said I'd be arrested for tax evasion. He never did ask for money, though. But don't be fooled by that, it was still a scam, I called the real IRS and confirmed that there were no outstanding problems with my account

Tax Scam....will tell you a law suit has been filed against you for back taxes.  Want you to settle this out of court.  Asked them a lot of questions ...finally they hung up.

Left a message claiming to be returning a call about a back brace as seen on tv.   Total fabrication.

Telling me he was from State Investigator's office.  he asked me for my full name.  I asked him what was his name.  Hw did not want to give me his name.  I said I have to verify who he was before I can give him any information.  He hung up.

This number is supposed to be IRS phone number. Some scammers uses sophisticated methods to show this number on your caller ID screen. Then when you pick up the phone, they tell you their fake agent number with their Indian accent and also a background noise to simulate the working environment. Never give any information to them. The good sign is that most of these callers have an Indian accent. IRS never call you. They send mail to you.

Just received a call from a guy name James Berlin from this number he said that I owned 11,436.00 in taxes and then changed it to 4,982.00 I was nervous at first but then I realized that the IRS would know how long I was working because I file taxes every year.

Irs lawsuit scam

Said they were from IRS and I owed them money.  Said they were sending the police and my bank accounts, credit cards, and all property would be sold. I was told not to interrupt him while he gave his speech.  I told him it was bs and hung up.

They just call me and didn't quite understand cause of their accent, but believe is a scam.

Did not leave any message. Called twice.
