Been getting calls from 1-800-829-1040 and quite a few others. they say we owe $87000.00 in back taxes and a warrant is out for our arrest. He also told me ( in a heavy east indian) accent that we were notified by a police officer last Sept 16 @ 2:30pm. Never happened...... He goes by the name officer John Clover his badge ID # is JC2927. He says he works for the IRS tax audit dept and that phone number is 804-593-1005. I asked why we havent been notified by mail and he told me he was calling to warn me about the warrant for arrest. SCAM!

I received a call from this number and was informed by the caller the IRS had a lien against me.  I have received two other calls like this that went to voice mail because I was not home at the time.
I was told the person to stop calling me and I knew this was a scam.  The caller had a foreign accent.

Just got call from that number. I answered because I thought was IRS. Hard to understand, not sure but think it was woman. Wanted to talk to my husband, I said I am his wife what do you want? She again said my husbands name and wanted to talk to him. I said 'HE IS DEAD, WHAT DO YOU WANT". She said it was about income tax returns from 2008 and 2009. I said again what do you want?!! THEN the call started to break up, couldn't understand a word she said....for about 10 seconds. Then I got dial tone.

Just got this call and when I told him that I do not owe taxes and have no pending litigation against me he told me I was a b**** and he was coming to rape my daughters. These 2 men (and I use the term lightly) called to convince me that I would be arrested in 2 hours at my residence and that they had made 2 prior attempts to meet w me at my residence and they have a picture of my home and front door to show they were actually here at my residence. They wanted me to settle the amount so that I would not be arrested in 2 hours. In their words if I don't settle for the amount I willingly defrauded the government of that I would be prosecuted and fined with not only jail time but a penalty of 90,000.  I am horrified and disgusted, some people probably fall for it and give them money!!  I am beyond pissed off that some piece of crap scammer would threaten a woman with such a thing. I am reporting it to the police, and I am gonna post the names and number of them as many times as I can. Pissed beyond words that there are truly people like this out there and that there is almost nothing that we can do about it. The man who called me identified himself as Eric Adler badge #631135 and his eloquent supervisor that wanted $4900 of my money identified himself as Steven Bradley badge number IRM239. Hope they get caught. Stupid stupid criminals!!

The lady with weird accent called twice from 1-800-829-1040(displayed on my phone caller id) and left a message about tax fraud asking me or my attorney to call 703-828-0428.  That 800 number is a valid IRS toll free number but with today's high tech, the scammer can show any caller id they want.  Anyway, as far as I know, IRS will not make any phone calls instead all the communications from IRS will use postal mails.

Call hang up at 1040 am on Wednesday, March 25 from 800.829.1040 and no message was left.  Looked at previous scam IRS calls and these numbers were used since March 9 when I began getting them:  360.851.1342, 730.444.2027, 734.484.2427, 737.474.2527, 917.310.0896.  So, today the call from 800.829.1040 is a spoofed IRS phone number that has been going on since April 2008.  VOIP spoof numbers can not be stopped, so would serve no purpose for you to whine and scream about do not call list and all that stuff.  Crooks do not abide by legal things do they?  No – and an article recently said “so far” 366,000 people had been scammed by these crooks.  So please, do not pick up the phone, do not interact with them in any way.  It only gets your number sold to other crooks and gets you more phone calls.  Crooks do not care how angry you get with them, that is their job – the more calls that are answered, the better “pay” they get from their crook boss.  So please – warn the elderly and impaired do not pick up and do not give any information if they do – and just hang up on them, say nothing.  It is a scam by crooks.

I got a call from this number, a man with an accent was claiming to be the IRS and threatening to come to the house and arrest me. When I checked the info regarding scam calls like this, they say scammers can actually create a called ID that looks like the IRS, but the number they give you for call back...is a different one. Here is the link to check for info regarding this scam    http://www.irs.gov/uac/Newsroom/IRS-Warns-of-Pervasive-Telephone-Scam

Got the call from the IRS number-800-829-1040.  Caller asked for my wife by name (terribly mispronounced) . He was hard to understand, spoke with a very thick south Asian accent.  My wife was busy and I asked what this was about.  I also said  I knew that the IRS did not make "collection" calls.  He said this was about a criminal offense.  I told him we had received similar scam calls about taxes from another number and I assumed he was a scammer and I would report him.  He promptly hung up.  I DID file a complaint with the FTC (the IRS website has a link to that site).  People, be VERY CAREFUL!!!!  These guys are scum!
