    Thank God!!!!!

This is a legit company that is hired by banks to detect fraudulent activity, they asked me if my last 5 transactions were ok, they most certainly were NOT. Someone in another country was trying to use my
card to make very large purchase, seems they were trying a bunch of times today. From the pattern I see on here, it must have something to do with PayPal. That must be where they are getting our card numbers.

    dont ignore the call

This phone number is legit. I called them back after receiving a voice mail about possibly fraudulent charges and they asked me to verify about 5 of the most recent transactions. I verified them and then immediately called the 1-800 number for my bank and explained what had just happened and asked them to confirm that the company that I had just called was legit. They said it was and then transferred me to their "outside security company", which indeed was the same company that left me a voicemail (First Data Corporation).

I'm so sorry. I completely misunderstood it.
This phone is legal. It is related to VISA credit/debit card company.
I have a PNCbank account with a VISA debit card.
    This morning(on Saturday), I received a call "800-830-8574".
Due to my cell phone's weak signaling, this call was stopped and I called back immediately.
This call was to confirm my recent transactions by using answering machine.
At first step, they confirmed my callling phone number
and then required the last four digit numbers of my VISA card. I gave them.
After that, I could hear recent suspicious transactions. Surprisingly they were fraud.
So I immedialtely denied the first one of those transactions by pressing a button
and then I was automatically connected to an operator.
After she had verified some transactions,
my current VISA card was suspended and all the suspicious transactions were cancelled.
Don't ignore this call. In my case, this call is very useful to me. It's really legal!!!

    Legit Number
This is for PNC bank customers.  Phone systems asks for your phone number and last four digits of card, NOTHING PRIVATE.  Then, you are asked if the most five recent transactions are correct - they provide merchant name, location and dollar amount relating to the transactions.

I actually feel better knowing my bank is looking out for me :)

This is absolutely a SCAM and the rosy messages on this board are probably left by the scammers.  Think about it.  Why would someone take the time to look for a message board and post about a number they had a good transaction with???

I got a call that was supposedly from "PayPal Security" to verify some recent transactions.  I called PayPal.  I have no recent transactions.  PayPal said they never called me.  They don't use 3rd party security either.  Enough said.

My experience does NOT square with the other messages on this board, I know they are lying and recommend that no one ever dial this number.

I just call PayPal customer service. They told me that this number is a scam. Representative told me that Paypal would never call you to verify something, so it is definitely a fake call. Do not believe positive comments on this board, saying that the number is legit. Think about it, why would someone having a positive experience with this call, Google it, spend his time to prove others that it’s legit. All the positive comments are from the same spammers. Also, I know that the spammers are going to read this too, so two words from me “I wish you burn in hell”. I believe in black magic, and I am going to use it on this spammers, they really deserve it.

Received computer generated call from this number -- 800-830-8574 -- at 8 pm on on a Saturday night on my work number, claiming to want to verify a Wells Fargo credit card transaction.  I called Wells Fargo directly on Monday morning and they verified that there was a transaction that they were looking to confirm.  To be safe, I never call back the 800 numbers -- always call your bank/credit card company directly.

It was legit, but I think they would be wise in this day and age to avoid the computer generated set up.
I made a purchase for some "replica" watches in China which sent up a flag...plus I had made 5 other purchases (large) purchases in 24 hours.  I called PayPal direct and ended up getting transferred to the same company that called.  They needed to verify purchases and their amounts (none of my account info) otherwise they would have blocked my card.

Ok i got this call as well today and I have been on the net since it started and do not trust anything. But before I risk being sued for liable I research everything and founf that this was legit even tho the person i called at paypal didn't know a thing about it. Just because someone at a company doesn't know something about their companies policies doesn't mean it isn't real.

Also if a person had ever called the number and verified what was asked you would find they do not ask for any personal informaiton. They just want you to verify charges that had been made. This is legit and I am not "dumb".

Why would we take the time to post? Cause like you I was worried and not trusting, then after I found out it was legit I also found out that if you don't reply to this and verify your buys they WILL supend the card and when you are out shopping it will be declined.

So I take the time to post my comments to save someone else the emabarrassment I went though because I didn't call back and confirm my transactions.

Plus I am spamming a game that I made and found this while looking for places to post, so you are right I am a spammer but not for this company.

    Anyway now to my spam.....

Play http://www.forsakenclans,com it is a kick ass vampire vs werewolf game.

Oh and here is a forum post on paypal that verifies that this is legit and that they use this company.....

I was having trouble with my PayPal Debit card and received the following e-mail from them after contacting them:

"We weren’t able to reach you at the phone number listed on your PayPal account. Please call the PayPal Debit MasterCard Team at 1-800-830-8574, to verify your recent transactions. You’ll need your PayPal Debit MasterCard number when you call."

Seems legit to me since the e-amil is from PayPal

You may be right that it was your bank; however your statement that you only gave the last four of your number and nothing can be done with that is not true. Next time you make a purchase look at the receipt; most receipts display all the numbers EXCEPT the last four. So if someone had your receipt and you give them the last four there is most definitely something they can do with it.

I got 2 calls within the past 2 days from this number. First time I answered and they said that there has been suspicious activity on my card. I used to work at a bank so I know not to give any info to anyone who has called you! So I just hung up. The second time, they left a voice mail saying the same thing but it got all staticky and disconnected. I immediately called my bank and they assured me all was good with my account and card! This is definitely a scam!! NEVER, EVER give any information to anyone who has called you!! If they are truly your bank, they have all your information so why would they need to ask you for it!!??!!

I received an email today from paypal@paypal.com asking me to call the PayPal Debit Card Security Team at 1-800-830-8574. I immediately forwarded this to spoof@paypal.com and they replied stating that the email was indeed a "phising" attempt and is a scam.
You need to confirm before you give out any information - Be aware...there are too many posts saying they're legit when it isn't.

My daughter received a call from this number today. Before she did anything, she checked her account and sure enough, there were over $200.00 in FRAUDULENT charges. She returned the call and contacted PNC, as well. Everything has been taken care of, thanks to that phone call!!!
