Got this call & my husband  ran to my cell to answer it before I check on who was calling. I do not hand out my cell number to anyone but family & friends -- any place I have delt with gets my house number. Would not give them the time of day ! Said something about a recent use of a credit card. Have I used my credit card-- why yes, but my cell number is never handed out !!

This is a legitimate call from this number. If you have a credit card or debit card from PayPal, they are confirming some transactions that were made recently.

I called PayPal and they confirmed it was from their fraud department. If I hadn't have returned the call they would have stopped all authorizations to my account.

RECOMMENDATION: If you get a call from this phone number, call you bank, credit card, and debit card numbers to make sure all your recent purchases were really YOUR purchases. (I agree about not giving account info number from some random number, even though for me, this turned out to be legit.)

I didn't answer this call but looked up it up online. Found the info on this site, called my credit card info number, and found out that my wallet had been stolen. Both of my banks called me, one was Wings Financial and one was Wells Fargo. (I have two caller ID numbers and I'm not sure which one was which, they were: 800-830-8574 and 800-704-0855, but I'm not sure which number was from which bank.)

The people who stole the wallet went on a shopping spree with the cards in the wallet, and calls from these 2 numbers were the first alerts! I immediately called, found out there were fraudulent charges, and then reported them as stolen.

Valid phone number - it was my bank checking for bank fraud.  I called my bank directly to verify - and they said they did indeed call from the number.  It's the holiday time, so I appreciate them keeping tabs.

It is my experience that the number 800-830-8574 is legit. They are a card services company that call on behalf of my credit union. I receive these calls from time to time to verify charges on my card. They only ask for my phone number and the last four digits of my card. If it was a scam, they would have cleaned my clock 6 months ago. Besides, this number is listed on Paypals website at https://www.paypal-community.com/t5/How-to-us ... Legit/td-p/6475.
So, don't get crabby....that's my job

Claimed to be my credit union and wanted me to call back.  Three calls from them already and it is not my credit union.

I received this message, and they said they were calling on behalf of my credit union. Like most others, I was skeptical.  Rather than calling the number, I called my credit union directly.  They confirmed that the 1-800 number was legitimate, and there WAS in fact fraudulent activity on my card, and then cancelled my card.  I would trust the number, but when in doubt, go straight to the horses mouth, and call your bank/credit union/card provider directly.

These jokers called me everyday for 3 weeks about six months ago. I added them to my Do Not Call list. Today was the first day they started calling agin. The voice mail did not get the whole message but it was something about call immediately about your transactions.

Robocall. Recorded message was nearly done when I got the call. No way to tell who it was or what they wanted. So, so, so tired of scrambling to answer these useless, waste-of-time calls.

I just got a call from 800-830-8574. I Googled it of course, since I didn't recognize it. I ended up on this page and saw the debate as to whether or not it's legit. Yesterday I had taken my Aunt Mary Ellen on a bit of a shopping spree using a joint account that we have together, but one I don't usually spend money using my debit card unless she's with me which is not more than once a month and they're usually smaller purchases. After reading some comments here, I figured I should call them back because of the afore mentioned "shopping spree". Sure enough, they were verifying my purchases from yesterday. When I gave them my phone number they had "multiple matches", meaning they could see other accounts I have with various business. The guy said "I have multiple matches and one other account that requires attention, but I can't unlock that card for you, you will have to call there card services directly..." and then went on to tell me which card it was. Three days earlier my son was using that card to download games from Steam, which charges cards from outside of the country. He made one download, and when he tried the second download from that site they had already locked the card and flagged his transactions. I called the immediately and took care of the issue. So YES this number is LEGIT. They are hired by banks and credit card companies to protect you when unusual activity occurs on your bank cards.

FYI, before you call me a "shill", I am a 45 year old mom of 2 boys living on Tarkington Prairie which is NE of Houston Tx. My husband is a radio air personality that works for a contemporary Christian radio station in the Houston area. Our last name is Ingram, if you're so inclined to do a little searching. I'm a stay at home wife & mom. I am not associated with the "suspicious" number in any way.

It's legitimate, Transaction Review Department of South Carolina Bank and Trust. They called my home phone and I didn't recognize the number so I didn't answer it. 15 minutes later the same number called my cellphone. I answered it. All they asked was if I had made a rather large transaction on my card the day before with Walmart which I had done. They had the amount. They didn't ask for any information other than to verify I was the person whose name was on the card at the beginning of the conversation.
What was interesting was that I had done an even larger transaction 4 days before at a Sears and they didn't call about that one.

I was told by my bank that this number belongs to the company the banks hire to call you and tell you there is strange activity... I'm not saying it's everyone's bank, just my credit union. So.. maybe if you get this call, you should call your bank to make sure.. and give them this number to check to see if they also hire this company.. THEN tell them then need to put in their recording... their company name, what they do and that this is just a warning to call your bank and ask if someone besides you is using your account..

This is by far the sketchiest sounding phone call/message combination for a phone number/company that is ACTUALLY LEGIT! I would also agree to give this number a call back if you do get this message.  I made a purchase over the phone of 2500 dollars for an engagement ring.  It was denied the first time but accepted the second.  Once I called this number back it only needed me to verify that both of those transactions were mine and that I made them.  Very nice service actually.  Would be nice if it wasnt so automated but at the same time it did not really ask for anything serious like full account numbers or anything...

Got a voice message from this number. I don't usually call back but I do have a credit card from them so I did return the call. Good thing! They didn't ask me for my card #, they just asked me for my phone # and name. Then they gave me my address and asked me to verify. THEN they asked if I had made a recent purchase of 400 hundred something dollars at Walmart.com. I had not. That was a little alarming. Then they gave me some other recent transactions and told me to just say yes or no to each one. Those were legitimate but the Walmart one was not. She told me the Walmart transaction had not gone through and they were shutting my card down. They're sending me a new card.

Folks, I did not have to give any information I did not feel comfortable giving her. And making that call back prevented further attempts at using my card fraudulently. So don't be worried that this is a scam.

Got a call from this number.  Sounded like a scam, but I held the line to see what would happen.  Heard about 5 minutes of on hold music, but never got a person. Decided to google the number, found conflicting reports on the number on this website, so decided to call my bank and find out for sure.  Turns out it was legit.  I had made an online purchase earlier in the day, realized I forgot one item on my order, called the merchant, placed a new order (this was less than 5 minutes after the first order), and these two purchases, for several hundred dollars each, raised the FRAUD flag with my credit union.  So, it was legit, and my card had been flagged.  The issue was cleared up by my call to the bank. I told them about the call from the 800 number, and she said it was legit, but that if I ever have any suspicion about a number calling me about financial transactions, it's never a bad idea to call the bank to double check.

So, today, at least, the call from this number was legit.

This is a totally legit number. I got a call from it today. There was no message left.   When I called back they informed me that my debit card had been compromised. I did call my bank and found that there were in fact charges that I did not make. If you are scared to call back the number listed,  at least call your bank and check it out.

It seems like a legit service. I paid my property tax with a new debit card the other day, a $500.00+ transaction. This company called me and wanted my phone number. I was respectful and explained my reluctance to divulge any information over the phone. The woman was very understanding and suggested I call my bank's customer service department, and that they would have the same information. I will do that first thing Monday morning. All-in-all, a pleasant call! LOL

    BEWARE -- ITS A SCAM
Found a message and missed call from 800 830 8574 with an automated message w/ my name telling me to call 800 377 1809 to verify recent transactions on my account.  when i called the number they indicated -- it seemed strange that it didn't not say it was the name of my bank -- or anything that made me feel comfortable.  I immediately called my bank to verify if they had called to verify anything and was told they had not - and confirmed both these numbers are part of a scam.  BEWARE and DO not call these people back --- call your bank to verify first!!!
