    Received an automated call from
    (800) 888-8804 with computerized voice saying my AT&T account has been flagged for suspicious activity. Then it said I need to enter the last 4 digits of my SS# to stop service disruption.
Hung up and called AT&T - this was a scam!!! Nothing wrong w my account.

Yes this is a scam, never give your SS# even the last 4 digits out. claimed to be AT&T,
I called back and it went to thermo biofisher company
    • Caller: bullsh-t company

Obviously ATT knows this scam, since they have been getting complaints for the past several weeks ... I got the call, blah, blah, blah ... I called ATT to complain, and their response was "duh?"! Seems like ATT is supporting the scam, and won't do anything to stop it.

My wife and I both received a call from this number within a few minutes of each other.  (our phone numbers are only 3 digits apart, so it must be an auto-dialer calling all numbers sequentially).  Glad we didn't answer, thanks you all for the info

i reemed them out too!  They said they were A t & T and my account had been hacked and like the rest wanted the last 4 digits of my social.  Funny, I don't even have A T & T.  Never give your social out, ever unless you call a phone number you have for that creditor.  They called once and I ignored it but they called back a little later so I thought it might be a problem and answered.  Won't do that again.

Called my cell phone on a Sunday - twice in 20 minutes. Picked up the first time and a recording said, "This is AT&T calling. To avoid having your service shut off for non-payment, please enter the last four digits of the account holder's social security number." I hung up the first time, didn't answer on the second call. Bill is not delinquent. Definitely a hoax - the called ID read "unknown" and the number.
