These suckers got me. I was thinking and punching the #. It said wrong number and then hung up. I filed a complaint with IC3. Hope they catch these predators.

This number call twice and I did not answer it.  I checked on line and found out it a scam call.  I blocked the number on my cellphone so I won't be bothered again.  To setup a block phone number on your smart phone:
    1. Save the number in your contact (e.g. scame-1)
    2. Setting - phone - block number - add from your contact list scame-1 - save

Just got a call from this number saying the same as everyone else here. I have Verizon, not ATT. It's like they're not even trying.

We just got one as well.  Probably an international 800 number which is why they're still getting away with it.

Just got the same call in Southern California. Apparently they had called like 20 minutes before, but I didn't hear the phone ring and they didn't leave a voicemail. They called again and I picked up this time with the automated message saying there was a breach on my account and they needed the last 4 digits of the SS# of the account holder. I promptly hung up.

I'm on the att family plan with my dad and I get emails from them. I saw that my dad made a payment today. Maybe these people are going through a list of people who made recent payments and targeting them?

When my phone rang i saw all those "8's" and knew it was a scam. I've heard that if you answer numbers that are weird like the one we are posting about, the "caller" uses your number for scamming purposes.... You'd think that providers like AT&T would be able to trace the number and take action for ID theft or whatever. Seriously asking for the last four numbers of SS # is indeed suspicioius and should be investigated.
Great posts on this site! I hope that whoever is behind that number will read our posts and can see that we are more intellegent than they are!
    • Caller: I didn't answer and no ID provided

stressed and careless and fell for it
I too, got that weird number today and I was soo stressed calling my insurance "anthem" and been on the phone with them all day and they hung up somehow,  so at the same exact time, this number calls me, I pick up immediately not thinking straight and thought it was probably that recent call and was careless enough to not hear that bogus words that I fell for it!!  I immediately call back knowing it was a fraud number! I immediately call my credit card accounts, bank accounts and social security office which I was put on hold for 48 minutes!  But they all told me to call "credit bureau"  which will put an alert and notify the 3 major credit bureau and will help and alert if anyone is opening or using with your credit.  Here are the 3 credit bureau numbers:   Equifax : 800-685-1111 ,    Experian: 888-397-3742,  & TransUnion: 800-916-8800.

Two calls on my cell phone exactly 20 minutes apart -- no voicemail and I never answer calls from unknown numbers.

My landline doesn't have callerID so I never answer it.  I did get (unrecorded) calls that might have been from the same source.

Next time I'm near a public phone, I'll probably dial that number, just to see who answers.  They won't get any useful information from me, though.

I did find that number on product data sheets belonging to a private company in California:
    www.ambion.com

I doubt it's actually that company calling, but somebody who pirated their phone number.  AT&T should investigate.
