That is very helpful thanks! It is Capital One Collections by the way. Apparantely they just don't understand that people are laid off this time of year and are awaiting their 1st Unemployment Check ever!!!!

They call our business repeatedly from this number. Caller ID does say Capital One. At first they asked for our former boss, who retired last year. Now they are asking for the receptionist. They will not leave a message, either written or voicemail. They are always polite, but no one knows why we would be receiving these calls. We don't do business with Capital One. If it's about the former boss' account, why did they start asking for someone else?

Under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act you need to write them requesting them to remove your number from any and all account.  And they legally have to at that point.  Send it certified with signature card that way you know they received it.

This number calls us (a business) several times every day.  No one ever says anything.  I'm guessing that maybe they get paid for every phone call they make, so they keep calling the people they know will answer.

Well I've had this 1-800-955-6600 calling my house for several months now. I get around 3 to 6 phone calls a day. Whenever I'm around I pick up the phone, but no one is ever online to speak. And when I'm not around to answer the phone, there's no one around to leave a message. I've never had a Capital One Credit Card. The day I hear someone talk from this number will be the day I play the lottery.

I have a friend who has been getting called by them for the last 3 years on and off. Seven days a week maybe 3 or 4 times a day.  They always ask for two people whom she never heard of. She has tried everything to stop them from calling. She blocked the number but a few months later a new 800 number would pop up asking for the same two people.  For the last year she would just say hello so the call to the caller would kick in and when the caller asks for the person she just says nothing.  Now she just says hello waits until the call is transferred  and when the caller asks for  one of the two names she blasts them with a quick foul curse.  She would like everyone to do the same.

PS- and she doesn’t care that the caller is “just doing their job.”

    This made my day!

This is the most under handed thing I have experienced to date. Capital One calls and leaves a message that there are opportunities with them, so call Linda at  1-800-955-6600 to speak about them.

OK, made the call and the first thing they ask for is you CR#.  I don't have a CR# with them and told them so. You will have to get to a live person so say something like HR. I never got Linda, and said take me out of your call list. I am on the DO NOT CALL list and someone must of sold my number to them from a jobboard or something like that!

Started last week, this people calling me. It goes to my mail voice and states is from Capital One. I do have and account with them NOT BY CHOICE they took over ING.

I don't owe any monies to Capital One, I don't use the debit card and I don't have a credit card, I'm thinking of closing my accounts soon if they don't stop calling.

I got 3 calls yesterday and today is not even 2:00 P.M and I gotten 4 phone calls. [***]!

After reading the posts, if this is in fact Southwest credit, which may be a division of Capital one, Southwest is a collection agency. I received a phone call about an AT&T bill that I hadn't paid when I disconnected my service. They have now sent it to Southwest for collection per the letter I recently received. They really need to start leaving messages.

This number has been calling me at least once a day for over a week.  I finally picked it up and they asked for Scott.  I told them there is no Scott at this number and to stop calling.  She said I might receive a follow-up call to confirm that the person they're seeking is not at this number.  I think it's all bogus.

Got a call at 8pm on a Saturday nite. Give me a break. Their computer detected my voicemail and disconnected. I get other calls from Capital where they ask to initiate some sort of credit advance or some other 'deal'.
I guess as people close out their credit cards which are really DEBT CARDS, and as people are paying off their debt as fast as possible in this collapsing economy [a good idea], the DEBT card companies are trying to hustle business to keep their margins up! Annoying to have to go check the number at nite on a Saturday.
They aren't calling to collect on debt I don't think. I think they are hustling new business.

Oh by the way, TRY to close your acct. I tried years ago, and they wouldn't. I insisted while on the phone. They escalated me to a spvr / mgr who began ARGUING with me!  I was nearly speechless but not quite. He finally said he would.
It's like Facebook where you can suspend your acct but never close it, or like the Hotel California where you can check in but never leave.
The calls coming here now are for another person at this residence, I know that from the voice calls that have gotten thru to the voicemail.

Hello. My firm is filing a lawsuit against them for breaking federal laws. If you live in California, give us a call. We advance all filing fees and costs, and you pay us nothing unless we win. The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act allows up to $1,000.00 to be paid to the person getting harassed!

    Good luck,
