In response to the person not taking responsibility for their actions...

predatory lending? come on...  So someone loaned you money, YOU spent it all and YOU weren't able to keep your end of the deal and keep up with making payments to pay them back. SO YOU blame the person who loaned you the money???  That is the problem with this county. No one takes responsibility for their actions.

Yes credit card companies loan money to irresponsible people, yes they charge high interest rates, but do they force you to sign up for the card and irresponsibly spend the money?  Here is a clue, if you can't afford to make the payments then don't swipe the plastic!!

yep and like most  americans who were playing the keep up with the jones, they got caught in a trap.unlike wall street, banks, auto compaines,we dont contribute enough to our members of congress to rate a bailout.and yes you are right, nobody made anyone take out these loans, but if you remember, who flooded their mail boxes everyday with easy credit ?who said a home in every driveway ?
this was a two way street, with little control on either side of this melt down.as long as everyone had a job and was making payments,it was just rosy

I think it is funny this is capital one collections.  I always pay early and MORE than my minimum.  They wanted my social security  number...... too hinky. I think it is a scam.

Sorry to inform you, COMPANIES make mistakes.  Yes, we have a Capital One account.  NO, it is not, nor has it ever been even 1 day late.  Not only that, they were asking to "verify" my social security number.  NOT my account number.  When I asked them to tell me account number, she said for "privacy reasons" that was not available on her screen.  What a bunch of BS.

file a compalint with your phone company, file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and the FCC. On the FTC and FCC they have a drop down for filing a complaint.

Some people getting this message DON'T HAVE BILLS let alone AN ACCOUNT or even AREN'T OLD ENOUGH TO HAVE A CREDIT CARD and are still getting phone calls. Maybe it's the case for some, but not for everyone. Calm down, I'm sure you are such a model citizen. Please continue to make yourself feel superior.

It's capital one, probably calling because your delinquent. I know I am. There's nobody there at first because it's an autocall system which connects you to a real user after a couple seconds, so when the capital one rep has a call it only registers when someone actually picks up. It's also usually policy NOT to leave a voicemail, allowing them to call more than once or twice a day. More than one message is considered harassment, as least in my state. Usually all you have to do to stop calls is either pay your bill, or answer, wait for the rep, and give them a comittment as to when you might. Lastly, if they have a wrong name, it's because someone gave a wrong number on purpose, it's not capital ones fault.

Called my cell a few minutes ago. I didn't answer, so I can't say who it was. They may very well be the collections department for CapitalOne, as the earlier posters have said, but I have no CapitalOne card. They aren't getting any money from me!

I don't and have never had a Capital One card. We only have dept cards, but keep getting calls...upwards of 5 a day. If it were not for this site I would not know who has been calling, I answer each one, no answer, no one there...very annoying

They call our business repeatedly from this number. Caller ID does say Capital One. At first they asked for our former boss, who retired last year. Now they are asking for the receptionist. They will not leave a message, either written or voicemail. They are always polite, but no one knows why we would be receiving these calls. We don't do business with Capital One. If it's about the former boss' account, why did they start asking for someone else?

Under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act you need to write them requesting them to remove your number from any and all account.  And they legally have to at that point.  Send it certified with signature card that way you know they received it.

This number calls us (a business) several times every day.  No one ever says anything.  I'm guessing that maybe they get paid for every phone call they make, so they keep calling the people they know will answer.
