KEEPS CALLING CELL PHONE, no one there if you answer and no message. I HAVE NO CREDIT CARDS.  So if it is capital one, why would they call?

they have called me everyday since Sunday and always more then 3 times a day and i am on the do not call list and i am getting sick of them calling me all the time

its capitol one collection department they would call me 4 or 5 times a day but if you threaten them they will stop calling

Got a call today, they left a message on my Voice Mail.

"Hi, this is Linda. We have some opportunities that could be available to you at Capital One. Please call me back today at 1-800-955-6600 to discuss them. Thank You."

I haven't had ANY credit card or loan in over 10 years, but I get calls from this and multiple other numbers that all come up as Capitol One when I google each number.  I have had the same prepaid phone for 2-3 years, and for the last several months I have been getting strings of calls from one of these Capitol One numbers, and then a string of calls from another Capitol One number ... number after number.  I have a list of at least 6-8 numbers they have called me from, with no legitimate reason.  AND this number is listed on the federal do-not-call list.

I am not a Capitol One cardmember nor have I ever been. I don't know why these ppl call me, I never answer and sometimes they leave a message but don't say anything.

Here is how to have a debt collector stop calling.  Fax and snail mail (return receipt requested)

Dear Capital One
This will serve as your legal notice under provisions of federal law, the Fair Debt Colledtion Practices ACT (FDCPA), to cease all communication withy me in regard to the debt referenced above (provide account number).  If you fail to heed this notice, I will file a formal complaint against you with the Federal Trade Commission who is responsible for enforcement, the States Attorney General office/and or or the Americaqn Collectors Association of local State Bar Association.

I/We have decided that we do not desire to work with a collection agency under any circumstances.  

Your are also notified that should any adverse information be placed against my credit reports as a result of this notice that aqppropriate actions will be taken.  Give this very important matter the attention it deserves.

Dont owe them a thing, but they keep calling and calling.  when I answer, no one there and they dont leave a msg.......STOP IT

We don't even have an account with thee bozos and we get a call every other day.  Then the Indian accent is so heavy it's hard to understand them.  They ask for someone who doesn't live here - and never has. I tell them they have the wrong number and to not call again; they call again. What sort of recourse does one have?

Received a call from some woman whose name I couldn't distinquish.  "You are past due on your credit card account.  Would you like to take care of that via draft right now?"  No! says I and who are you by the way?  Then she says would you verify your birthdate so we can service your account?"  Very strange.  I would not give her anything but she finally did say she was from Cap One and it had to do with my credit card ending in xxxx.  I did have a Cap One credit card years ago but I keep good records and was able to say I never had that card.  She wouldn't tell me more but asked me for my SSN.  Nope, says I.  I hung up and called Cap One directly.  They had no record of that card and couldn't tell me why someone from Cap One would call me. Here's my theory.  This was Cap One Collections and they did have someone with my name who was behind on their payments.  So they were just Dialin For Dollars.   If I was dumb enough to give them my payment information, they would come out ahead. Very sneaky business practices.

I dont have capital one, why are they calling me then?

I get about 3 calls a day from these people because I do owe them but what is annoying is they call and hang up after 1 ring and it work my nerves really bad. they call me at work and at home but they keep calling hanging up.

I have nothing to do with this people.  I started to rec seveal calls a day for 2-3 weeks.  You MUST file complaints (civil and criminal) and threaten them within an inch of thier money.

Not only does Capital One call from this number, they call from: 309-827-5401, 562-483-7846, & 866-929-5307!  They start by 7:59 in the morning, call all day, then heats up again by 5:30 to 7:50 range in the evening.  The sad thing is I just received my bill and it's not due till the 13th!  Why are they calling me?  and how can I block their numbers????

How about this. I have a Capital One card and always pay my balance on time. Recently, there was some fraudulent activity on my card, so Cap One closed that account and issued me a me a new card. Meantime, I was unable to pay as my old account was closed and my new one was not yet activated. Finally got my new card in the mail and the number on the card to activate - DID NOT EXIST. Finally called another Cap One number, got my card activated and then paid my bill immediately. Started getting calls about a week after that about not paying my bill. Umm...check your records - I've paid.

This number is from the Capitol One Fraud Department.

You should pick up!  If there has been fraud on your card or if they suspect fraud the department calls to verify information.

Its important to get a reach of this department especially if they have called numerous times.

this number calls me 2-4 times a day, and hangs up. I know its Capitol One and i do not have an account with the company. I called the corporate office and they gave me to the collections department(800-955-6600) They made a not on my name and said i should not receive calls. I want to make sure i do not receive calls anymore.

Here is the deal....the number is not Capitol One.  It is clearly some type of fraudulent company attempting to gain as much information from you as you are willing to give to them.  We have contacted Capitol One, they have no record of us.  I called the number and got an automated message asking for my CC#.  Of course I put in 1234567812345678 and it then asked me for my SS#, I enter 123456789 and I was able to reach a person.  I spoke with this person and she asked for my CC# again, I said I already entered it, you should have it on the screen in front of you, well, there is no damn screen. So I gave her the same number I entered, then she asked for my SS#, gave her the same one.  Now, anyone who has any type of common sense and a high school diploma knows that 1234567812345678 is clearly not a valid CC#.  After I gave her that info, I told her that I knew what was up and that they needed to remove my number from their "list".  She took my number and said she would give it to her supervisor.  I then proceeded to really explain in great detail how upset I was and that this number better be off the list or I will seek law enforcement agencies help in filing an harassment suit against the number.  We will see how it goes.  Good Luck.  Do not give them anything.  This number is a fraudulent number seeking your information!

800-955-6600 They have started calling again. They did this last year as well. They call up to 6-7 times a day, they never answer or leave a message. The person who posted that it is a legit # may be correct, however, my credit card with them has been PAID OFF IN FULL for over a YEAR! This is harrassment. I also feel that this is a scam. I even called the real customer service # for Capital One & was assured by a rep, that yes, my account is paid off in full. They need to stop calling. The one time I did get a real person to speak to me, I demanded to speak to their manager & they hung up on me.  Not so professional huh? Therefore, I feel this is a scam.

If you call the number, it says that it is Capital One and asks you to enter your credit card number (which I would NEVER do unless I was calling the number off of my card or from their website).

We've gotten several calls from another Capital One number (866-929-5307) over the last few days and have now begun getting calls from this 955 number.  I thought that it was related to some kind of 1.6% APR offer that I got in the mail recently and that appears on their website, so I've been ignoring it.  However, since the 955 number is supposedly from their internal collections department, I'm taking more notice.

There are 4 different Capital One cards in our household, but mine has a zero balance and has never been late; the other three cards have balances but are all current and have never been late (I handle the bills and from double-checking the accounts, I know this to be accurate).  We've sent messages through Capital One website's secure e-mail system and will wait to hear back.
