I have been pestered with this number for several days now, several times a day.  It is a recorded message supposedly with a text message for me to pick up.

Have read all the comments and note the contents, First off some mention that it is a bt land line that receives the rerouted texts, my land line is virgin, secondly it is it said the calls are now confined to day time calls only, my last call was midnight last night, can't find any info as to how much all this costs, the sender of the texts, unless they are clued up, are usually oblivious to the mayhem they are causing, if you are young and fit, only slight aggravation, if you are old, invalid, of a nervous disposition or all three then the inconvenience and aggravation is multiplied. As already mentioned, the costs, hardly anyone does things for nothing in this world so who pays for this inconvenient so-called convenience, hope it's not the recipient.

I bought a TV from Peter Jones; the next evening got a recorded message call telling me they knew I had made this purchase. Unnerving, and I believe illegal. Have reported this to PJ who no doubt will take prompt action.

I think it could only be a staff member - what does he/she get out of this??

08456021111 called today. when I called the number back says is from Bt messaging centre, asked me 2 call another number 2 receive a message from them. I didn't call the number back. Who is it from does anyone know?

This number was on my 1471 when I dialled after having a message left on my landline  that said nothing.  When I dialled the number it was as said before the BT sms text message service. (didnt know I had that)  and when I listened there were three messages all within minutes of each other from a Beauty place promoting a vat free day and confirming my appointment (which I had never made).   Weird.  Wish people like this would just leave us alone!!!!!!

I've had about 17 calls from this number and it's getting really annoying as it rings three or four times then rings off! Tried redialing the number to no avail - lest now I know it's a nuisance call and not something important!

it can be stopped , most come  from0845602111 use bt messageing service to turn them off dial the number in other places on this forum and wait till the end youcan turn off text messageing with 20 mins

I just sent a text to my landline from my mobile saying "hello" and I received a call from 08456021111 saying "hello".  

No mystery, it's legit and is only BT converting text to voice.

I  have had 3 calls in last hr off this number, comes up 08456021111, have not answered as dont recognise number, and am worried it a call that charges me!!

I have been receiving multiple calls from this number "0845 602 1111". Sometimes there are a dozen calls a day. I have not replied but would like to know who is doing this and what I can do to stop them.

I've just found out that if you pick up the phone when 0845-602-1111 rings, this will cost the BT SMS service money. If everyone does this we can piss THEM off by incurring them a very hefty cost (and possibly jamming up their server).

I received a text message from this number.
It was a threatening message at 12:30 pm
Children were in bed and this really scared them.
Never want this again, no need for it

the phone number is from BT sms service someone has left a message on your house phone which has been sent to your home number from a mobile  to receive your messages you need to dial 08456 021 111 then follow the instructions but it does cost you to retreive your messages.

The problem is that there are 2 parts to this. BT, whose number this is, are semi innocent for once. The problem is that this service is open to scammers, con-men and dodgy businesses anywhere. Thus people have traced the source to various companies. A text costs next to nothing or even nothing. I just got one on land-line. They new my name (I too am ex-directory) and told me I had made an overpayment on my credit card. Since my retirement 5 years ago, I don't have one I just use debit so it is obviously a scammer. I have had several of these in the past, all slightly different. I have caller ID so in future I shall just press my answer button and then straight away my hang-up button.

I had a call from them today and it was just a text from someone my mum knows, its no big deal, it IS just BT, and for all you tards that keep posting the same stuff, read the whole bloody thread and you'll find out exactly what its all about. Also if your getting msgs left from disreputable companies and death threats you've either annoyed someone who's got your number or you've given your number to a website or company who doesn't abide by the data protection act, and another thing, don't forget that all phone numbers get reused when they are no longer active, BT recycle all numbers, i used to get calls from a company for the guy who used to have my phone number and when i explained they stopped calling. Where as my parents have had there number for years and they only receive SMS voice msgs from family and friends.

So take a chill pill and just pick it up it might be important, and if its not, its not costing you anything even if you call back, 0845 numbers are free to BT landlines anyhow.

BT text system like spam... bulk spam anyone just add there number to your spam list, good when used in emergency (like ive got no credit on my phone its urgent call me dad :)bad when abused "hi all we have a meeting next thursday to dicuss the price of eggs"
BT SHOULD ADD THE NUMBER OF RECEIPIENTS TOO ONE.
