Got home to find they have phoned 6 times today. Am registered disabled and often confined to bed so it is hugely annoying. A friend of mine says when she gets cold calls with a person at the end she asks if they have found Jesus and says loads of religious claptrap. It'd very effective apparently! But sounds as if this is just recorded msgs.

just had the same number call me and feel the same.  If it is someone trying to get hold of you they will try again!

missed 4 calls from this number today. Don't know who they are and I am really not interested in speaking to them.

Confirmed, this number belongs to the BT text answering service, the caller ID from vodaphone also comes up wihout the 0 at the beginning. I would guess that this will be the case for all networks.

My friend just put my touch screen phone back in her pocket without locking the screen, the result of which was a text message that read something like jkgh54634kg54hg6hk456h54g6h54g6jh4g5jh :D lol

So, to recieve the message just add a 0 at the beginning of the number, dial, then press 1 to hear the message.

For those of you that have recieved scam messages through this service, give BT a ring, thier call records should show where the message came from, they should also be able to read the message and if it is considered harassment (you should be able to decide what constitutes harassment btw, if they disagree then mention the ombudsman...ofcom, scares the willies out of telecoms companies) then they should be able to block the number from calling or messaging your phone.

I'm guessing that the messaging service will keep periodically calling you until you ring it back, if this happens to you too often and it is a service you don't want or need, ask them if they will block the messaging service from calling your line altogether, worth a try :)

Harassment, while in certain circumstances is not always a criminal offence, it is a violation of the best practice guidelines set out by the telecoms ombudsman and is a serious matter.  If you feel threatened by it then it does become a police matter, call your local station and report the incident, it helps to keep a diary or record of the calls and messages, get an incident number from them and this should enable you to have BT change your number if it comes down to it.

People shouldn't have to put up with this crap and there are rules in place to prevent or remedy it, but the telecoms companies don't exactly make this stuff easy to find or understand.

Have a look here... http://consumers.ofcom.org.uk/ and read the best practice guidelines to get a better idea of your rights, print them out so you can quote them to the rep when you ring up to complain!  We shouldn't have to turn the ringer off or keep screening calls and the more people that complain the more likely it is that the telecoms companies will pull thier finger out and take action.

i just got a call from this number 08456021111 asking to talk to a kim jatsu

i have no idea who or where she is

i have told these people 3 times now that they have the wrong number and they all said they would take my number of this system. however this has failed is there any way i can get this sorted

i had several missed calls from this number today all one minute after the other at 9.20 - 9.30 pm, if i answer next time will i be charged and does anyone know who and why this number is calling? is it a scam or a BT company?

I had a call from 0845 6021111 with an SMS message I did not have a pen so l saved it , how do i get the message back as its on being saved for 1 day

I did realise this is a sham i have just received a call from the 1111 number its really annoying and you never know if its an emergency

This number has been calling all day. I don't answer but I want to complain. Any ideas?

I had couple today. I am with Talk Talk and I pressed 2 to save it (I do not pay for 1571 however which is a typical function of that) and came to check whether you are charged if you opt to retrieve or even listen to the msg? I can't find any info on this from Googling/Talk Talk help - Anyone know??

Received an SMS Voice text message from BT thanking me for changing my bank details with my BT account... I hadn't.  Contacted BT enquiring what was going on... they informed me at no point have they contacted me & all my details are untouched... IS THIS A SCAM CALL?

Hi there everyone, I have had this number phone the house all day but after a brief chat with a friend I managed to work it out, a friend of mine had sent me a text and sent it to the wrong phone, so it would seem this is someone sending text messages to the house phone and this is who translates them xx

I received a rude text to my house phone  from a mobile number I recognise - (it was a spoken text).  But when i dialled 1471 the number came up as 08456021111

please can this pesky call be stopped its ringing continually until 22.00hrs I do not intend ever answering.

Is there a charge to the receiver of a sms text message alert, if i press 1 and listen to it.

this number is calling my landline every 5 mins  it is so annoying

08456021111 has called 7 times in 5 hours. I don't reply but they keep repeating the call. A great nuisance!

It (08456 021111) IS a genuine BT number that calls you when someone has (in my case mistakenly) texted a landline number. Worry no more.
