OK, on second thought, I just a read a previous post that makes more sense.  The number corresponds to the buttons on your phone, and spell out UNKNOWN, as in unknown number...it can be a debt collector, someone telling you that you won the lottery, etc.  Somehow they have figured out how to get a number to show up instead of UNKNOWN to increase the chance of it being answered.

this number is calling me too. i dont even know the person. and any idea WHY THE [***] IT DOESNT HAVE AN AREA CODE!!?? dont most 1-800 numbers have that in the front?

this seems like someone is trying to get my bank information.  this is a crime. it dies not identify what bank just state thatyou debit card it disable and to enter you information. This will not remain Iike this I am launching an investigation on this fake number. yes it a fake number because you get a fax machine.  Im not an idiot. you just been target.

This number is MCM, collection company

This caller is no particular person. Sprint probably has some type of error, and companies are able to get your number. They show up as 865-6696 for a reason. If this were a different phone, it would show up as Unknown. Reporting it will do nothing, as that's the iPhone's way of saying that the caller has no traceable number.

I got a call from the same number and it's a guy with a foreign accent saying that my version of windows is infected and messages are being sent to the windows server. I told him that I have Mac products at home and he insisted that my stuff was infected. Told him I was busy at work and I couldn't talk to him and he didnt seem to understand what I was saying, so I hung up. WTF!

I started getting calls from 865-6696 several days ago & they are calling at least 6-8 times daily & they call into the evenings, too.  I've answered several times, but it hangs up!  I've had the same phone number for many, many years & have never had this type of problem.  Should I "not" answer?  Just wanting to know what can I do to stop these calls?  I have a special needs daughter to care for & can't be running to answer the phone when it's like a "scam" call.  Who can I contact?

get this call five to six times a day for the last few day, very irritating.

I dont know who is calling from this # but when I call it back it says the # is out of service? Is this a spoof number?

Same number calls my phone with no answer and no vm. Sick to death of spam calls!

The first time I answered this number it was a loan company trying tell me I got a loan all I had to do was send them $250 for processing. I hung up at that point. They called again and it was a recording telling me the same thing basically, except I should go to their website to get my money. Now when I pick it up either it just hangs up or someone comes on, mumbles some stuff, and then hangs up. It is extremely annoying and the only reason I kept picking up is because I wanted to tell them to stop calling. I don't know what to do! They just kept freaking calling!

They called me saying that the government wants to give me $8500 because I'm a working citizen and something about taxes.. I gave the phone to my mother, because I'm a minor, and she told them that I don't pay taxes. The woman started screaming and hung up. She had some type of accent, I think it was German?

Calls no area code

Recently , I am also hit by this number. I dont get calls from this number but if my friends send me sms they get routed through this number and i recieve them as blank sms. The number shown is "UNKNOWN" and if i try to call 8656696 is displayed as the number. I am in India. I use Iphone 4. It is tethered jailbroken with IOS 6 the stuff started to happen may be after i installed IphoneDelivery for recieving delivery reports but since it didnt work on IOS 6 i removed but after that i cant recieve messages nor i can send any messages. Calling works fine.
