Call me several time regarding a loan application. They never say who they are. Listed as UNKNOWN and if call number back, it's not accepting calls. It's annoying.

Has called several times and hung up, today he claimed my service was going to be cut by "Chatrer Communications" if I did not pay the entire bill today. I don't have Charter Communications and told him to go ahead and cut it.

I have Sprint too & I think it started after I got the iphone.  I think you can go online to your account & block the number.  I have a couple of numbers blocked but I had the area code on them.

I to have sprint and the iPhone 4.  I got a call from this number 865-6696 as well and the guy who had a thick middle eastern accent told me the the government chooses 1500 people a year to receive a $7000 grant to those who has not filed bankruptcy in the past 6 months and had no criminal record and that I don't have to pay it back I then asked to speak to a supervisor but wasn't available, I told them that I would not give them any information and then they hung up on me! It Definitely is a scam!

This number keeps calling me from time to time. No Area code though. They keep saying my windows computer is being infected by viruses and they want to take me step by step to try and "fix it" I tell them to take me off of there call list, and then they hang up.. yet they keep calling.

This number has called me 3 times a day for a week. Something bout Microsoft. I told them to quit calling me I didn't care why he was calling or what he wanted and he said this is the 1st time I've called, I said no this is the third time and hung up. Now I'm waiting on the next call. This is BS.

I looked into this... It happens to sprint users with iPhones only... 8656696 spells out "unknown" instead of saying unknown it just gives you the numbers that would spell it out.. It's a glitch

***BBB advises that consumers heed the following advice when dealing with robocalls:

Hang up immediately on any robocall offering reduced credit card interest rates or home security systems, unless you are certain it’s from a current provider or is a legitimate offer.
Do not press any numbers while on the call as that may simply confirm to the people originating the call that they’ve reached a valid phone number.
Do not press 2 in the hopes of being deleted from the call list.
Do not press 1 to listen to the offer or speak to a representative

    also note news:

Your days are numbered, Rachel of Card Holder Services. Wish I could say it’s been nice knowing you.  But it hasn’t been. You and your robocalling friends have called me a bazillion times too many. Turns out you’ve all been calling most everyone else just as often. We’re fed up and we’re not going to take it anymore.

And that includes the Federal Trade Commission, which has issued a $50,000 award  to anyone who can come up with a workable plan to block your illegal calls. The contest opens Oct. 25 with judging taking place Jan. 17. Winners will be announced in April. ( it's March now.. wonder who might of won?)

The challenge from the FTC comes with rules. In a nutshell, the winning solution should block robocalls on both landlines and mobile phones. Judging criteria  will be based on: Does it work? Is it easy to use? Can it be rolled out?

The winning solution will not only win the cash, but opportunities for promotion, exposure and recognition by the FTC. Companies with more than 10 employees are eligible to compete for the FTC Technology Achievement Award sans the cash prize.

So Rachel, I hope you have a nice little nest egg built up. You’re gonna need it after some of the nation’s greatest minds devise a means to silence your calls.
