I got a call also.  It's a collection agency collecting for BMG.  I've also heard they collect past medical bills and Sprint bills.  If you go to their website and enter the number they called and your zip code you can get the info on the call.  This is a new feature.

based on the comments already on this site, i went to the website to see, it is a collection agency i have never heard of. they called me at work on a line i have never given out, but that is listed on my employer's website.

Definately a collection agency!!!
Don't return the call for ANY reason, even curiosity !!!
If you go to their web site, don't activate the buttons because then they will have YOUR email address !!!
If YOU like talking ??? with a collection magot, return the call !!!
If you want peace and quiet, let the machine answer the call and then delete it, and then do something more enjoyable !!!
If they call and you answer, when they identify themselves, don't enter into an arguement with them, just put the phone down and see how long they will talk to the carpet !!!  They inconvenienced you, return the favor because if you just hang up, then they immediately turn around an call someone else.  If YOU hang them on the phone, then YOU are eating into their profits margins !!!

This number called three times in the last three hours (10:39a, 12:08p, and 1:44p).  Granted, I don't answer the phone if I don't recognize the number, but geez, this is clear harassment since they're not leaving anything on my answering machine. I have no idea who they are or what they're calling about, and based on what I've read on this site, I'm still clueless as I don't have any medical bills and have never belonged to any mail clubs.

I have a 'do not call cell#" as it's for my terminally ill mother and only her doctors and nurses are supposed to all...also my family.....I keep getting this calls and don't know who they are.  When I return the call I just get a "leave a message" or "please wait for the next person".  I don't know who to complain to but I'm sick of these type of calls on a "Do not call" number.

I recieved two calls I called them the first time and went on there website they claim I owe for some dvds from columbia house records I never ordered any nor did I recieve any I dont even have a credit card I payed them off 4.5 years ago so how did they get there information.I have never purchased anything on the internet at any time.

This is a collection agency.  They collect for several companies including Columbia House DVD's and Doubleday Book Club.

yeah there a pain in the [***] allright,,they buy up old debt that has expired or about to expire,,dont talk to them,,ignore them,,if u have not paid the origional debt,,why pay it now,,ignore it,,it will soon dissapear

Voicemail msg. was left on my cell phone & don't know how they got my number.  Their message was abrupt and demanding to call immediately and without a reason of who they were or what was owed.  The message was either to call 866-408-8299 or go on the website as takhargroup.

i went to their website and it'll ask you if you were contacted by them to click on a link the link takes you to a site where it asks you for phone number and zip code. if you enter this you will find out for sure who they are looking for. i plan on calling them in the morning and tell them that i'm not this person. this is the second debt agency that called me. it was also a 408 number. i had to call them and tell them i'm not the person they are looking for. i just got this phone number three months ago.

Threatening automated message from a false company called the "Taggart(?)" group.

This place has call several X's no message just hang up's. Tonight stated urgent you contact us or failure will result in a decision to make a file without my imput. Did not state who they were calling for. If this is a collection agency they need to state who they are calling for not be rude and hang up. They said to call gave time where most people are working. Do they think we just sit by the phone and wait. GET REAL.

I just got called from this number - same recorded "it's urgent" message and call us during business hours. I think it is a scam as I don't owe anybody anything. In fact, my home, car, boat, everything is paid for and I pay off what little I put on my one and only credit card every month. Moreover, I have had the same phone number for over ten years.

I would not give them the time of day and one can block the number via the phone company - usually a small fee is required.
