Yes I have been called by these folks. They also left me a message telling me I must call them back. When I called the number back all it would do is  ask for my information. In this day and age do these people think we are stupid.I am not giveing out that information.SCAM

Takhar group is a collection agency for Columbia House.

They called my home today. So I googled it and according to wikipedia they may call from 866-408-8299, saying "It is urgent that you return our call, failure to do so may result in us making a desicion on your file with out your input"... or something to that extent.

If you google search the phone number, a lot of people are calling SCAM. Be ware.

I have a number that was at one time given to a Ms. O'Gorman.  I am not Ms. O'Gorman and I called and let them know I would report them.

i received a call from this number last friday. they said they needed to talk to me right away.  if i didn't call they woulld take matters into their own hands  about a file.  they sounded threatening.

My phone number is on the federal do not call list. Is there some way that I can block these kind of calls?

They have called twice so far. Given all the comments here, I will not be calling them back. I'm on the verge of Chapt. 7 @ this time, they can contact the attorneys as far as I'm concerned. The message they leave is chopped off in the beginning, give you NO reference # or extension to refer to.

Why is this number calling me and telling me it is absolutely important that I call them back, or steps will be taken against me?

I also got a voice mail, similar to everyone. I follow up and called them back. They said they are collection agency for Columbia and that I need to settle immediately for $130.60 for the cost, late fees and penalty. I have no idea what they are talking, so I asked for the information from Columbia to follow through. They refused and said I have to settled immediately on the same phone call. I asked them to send me the details to my home for review and I will make my decision then. They said it must be settled now, so I told them I don't give out credit card nor will make any payment over the phone for something I have no knowledge of. They threaten me that this will affect my credit report.

Anyway, based on the input I've read so far, this sounds like a SCAM!

The interesting thing is how they are able to get my address, home and mobile home information....They continue to call on the mobile home as well.

Why is someone calling me late at night and threatening me that if I do not return the call, something will happen to me?

these people have been calling me for weeks.  I explained that I got this phone number about 3 months ago, and wasn't the person they were after.  The phone person says 'YEAH, RIGHT"  AND HANGS UP ON ME.  aND THE CALLS CONTINUE,,,,,,WHAT DO I DO?

they called me tonight on my cell phone and said i had to call them backright away or they were going to have to continue without my input on their discision. i wasn't sure what discsion they were talking about.

i just received a call today from this number so called tackard group??? but i put them on my no call list and on my block on my phone...so hopefully this will discourage them and leave me alone...but i still want to do this also...
