Called my home phone for roommate saying that he put it on some type of application.  Roomie doesn't even know the my home phone number, he's got his own cell phone that he uses.  Supervisor that I talked to so I can MY number off of their calling list was a real b!tch saying that roomie provided the information and that they're weren't the Psychic Hotline.  She lied and wasn't happy when called on it.  Wouldn't say exactly what type of company they were, just some type of financial agency.

I got a phone call from this company as well. I have tried for several days to call them back. When I called I got a recording that sounds like one of the little guys on the Wizard of Oz. I finally got through to a person and they were collecting for Double Day Book Club. This was from about 6 years ago when I belonged to them. They gave me the # to double day and I got it straightened out with them, but I wanted to be sure that they don't report this on my credit, and of course........I can't get through now. I left a message on their VM that it was Double Day's mistake and if this is put on my credit, I will report them. Now I will have to monitor my credit to make sure that they don't put this on my report...............Be careful of any kind of "clubs" whether it be music, books or magazines. They keep billing you even after your services and committments have been reached.

They were actually nice enough to me. They said they were calling about a debt with DoubleDay Book Club from two years ago. When I told her I had never ordered anything from DoubleDay she said to call them (and gave me the number) then call back with the outcome of that call. Instead I am blocking both numbers just in case.

I was just called by this number. Same message as the rest of the comments. I don't owe any money to any medical facility. I can only assume they were calling the person who last had the vonage number we just got for the 407 area code. I am going to investigate how I can block this number.

These people keep trying to get ahold of me??? I don't know who it is or what they want. I think the name of the company is Tackart Group of Companies.  Not sure because most of the nasty message is hard to understand.  I did call back and left a message to not call me again or I would report the number to the phone company as a harassing caller. Don't know yet if that worked.  Caller Id shows it as a private name and private number.  I normally do not answer these calls.  Next time they call I'll answer and let them listen to the tv show I'm watching at the time.

Just rec'd my first call from this number but it is the takhar group and looking at other sites, it seems to be a scam. i'm going to try to get the number blocked and hope they dont call me as many times as it seems they do others!

I just received a call about from this number but I was not able to identify it.  That's why I googled it. Anyways, I don't owe anything so I don't know why they're harassing me! The message went like this, "ouch, you need to call this number..blah..blah normal business hours are m-f from 8-5, this is a urgent call" but whatever it's probably scam.  thanks for the heads up guys!

I received a call from this number...when i call it back, it's says " this number is temporary unavailable"...

Just a recording calling saying they want a return call.

they called my mothers cell phone...who nicely informed her i didn't live there. they told her they had her as a "contact" #. mom said she was not rude, but i will not be returning the call!

Keeps calling and saying it is regarding a buisness matter and requirers my immediate attention

This outfit is out of Canada, are they legal to make collections in the USA?

Its a collection agency. I got a rude message on my cell phone. Called them back today spoke to a nice woman and found out they were looking for the person who had my cell number b4 me.

I received a message also and can only understands bits of it.  If this is related to medical services, then I will not go back to a medical clinic that utilizes such a cut throat collection service.  It is the clinic's choice and they must know this places tactics.  Seems shady.

Have received a number of calls from this number, all of which occur just before 9pm, which is the cut off time of the "Fair Debt Collections Practices Act" - the automated recording states to return the urgent call during business hours, which is 9am - 5pm. Calling back the number results in strange beeps, followed by an accented "Your call is very important to us, please hold" message, additional beeps, then the line rings busy and the call drops.

Called them back more than 2 weeks ago to determine who they were calling for. Was to let me know that a payment I made to COLUMBIA HOUSE [DVD club] had been processed and they would not be pursuing additional collections. While I do have a Columbia House membership, my account was past due by about a week and was paid more than SIX MONTHS AGO. I informed them of this, to which they replied "Well, since we're a collections company, it takes some time for us to get the notice."

I asked the rep if they could mail me a letter advising of the zeroed balance and that my account with them was paid in full. She refused. I have receive TWENTY calls since then, and again, they are all late in the evening. This company is a joke. They push the line of what is acceptable collection practices, and are WELL AWARE of the line they straddle. Beware not to give them additional info or agree to any debt that you're unsure of. They're what is called a "Scavenger Collector" who generally purchased old/bad debt from companies who have already written the debt off as a loss - and in turn result to unfair and often illegal practices to scare consumers into blindly paying. They can really mess up your credit, even get unwarranted judgments if they opt to take it to court and the defendant doesn't show up [frequently their lawyers are even shadier, not serving court papers when they advise the court they have, not obtaining a signature on documents, pursuing invalid debts, etc].

I got the same call. I called them back at the number they listed. Got noting but a wait and then the usual "if you would like to make a call" "please hang up and try again" Thanks to the link posted, I got a hold of someone. They were polite and removed me from their call list after learning I am not the person they sought.

At 6:22 p.m. this evening, 10/7/08, I received a call from 866-408-8299.  I didn't recognize the number on my caller ID so I didn't answer.  They left a msg. saying this call was for ??? (uninteligible) & is not a telemarketing call but a personal business call from ??? (sounded like J Car group of companies but I Googled the number & another web site says they are Takhar Collection Service in Niagra Falls) and requesting a call back to the 866 number & to reference file #8706779421.  Needless to say I didn't, and won't, call back as I think this just encourages them to continue calling.  I don't have any outstanding debts, no judgements against me, no bankruptcy, etc.  I periodically get persistent calls from what turns out to be various collection agencies (I Google all of the numbers) and, knowing that I have no outstanding debts, I ignore them but having them call 2-3-4 times a day is very annoying.  They must randomly select phone numbers as I've had my current phone number, which is a land line, for 4 years.  I don't have call block on my phone service.  Don't think it would do much good as I have a long list of different calling numbers that I've Googled & found them to be collection agencies.  I've kept a record of all of these calls for the past 2 years which shows that a collection agency will call & call & then finally stop for a period of weeks or months & then start their cycle over again.
