What is up with that these people should be stopped !!! calling a residential house about a business alarm this does not seem right. Why are people getting away with this when there is already so many compaints about this number

- RobynHi I just answered 877-289-5108 and this is not a scam people.. they are ligit from RBC just telling clients about their new offer for "Accidental Death Insurance".
I answered, asked them what it was about, they didn't even ask me any personal questions, they didn't try to sell it to me, they just were letting me know about the new offer they had.
I am very skeptical about answering numbers I don't know either, but it makes sense why they are calling with all of the SPAM emails no one ever reads companys new offers nowadays. But I guess with all the scams out there no one even wants to answer their phone anymore.
So if you got a call from this number, just answer and tell them you aren't interested and they won't call you again. =)- Caller: Royal Bank of Canada
- NicoI have been receiving calls regularly from this number for almost three years! When I answer no-one responds but I can hear background noise of an office or something. I get so many calls from this number that I saved it in my phone as "F*cker" and one day I was on the bus when they called me. As soon as I saw it was them I blocked the call, and the dude next to me on the bus says to his buddy "So that's what happens when girls give me their phone numbers at the club."
So weird to find out it's some kind of company. I had chalked it up to some creepy weirdo wanting to hear young lady voices. Why would they call so often for so long and never say anything? too weird.- Caller: f*cker
- ... replies to RodYou say you sent "them" and email... who are "they" and how did you get their email?
This needs to be clarified to offer any help. - x2I have been getting calls from this number constantly for the last 18 months at all times of the day. After 20 calls in the last 4 weeks I finally answered it - the call ID'ed herself as from the Royal Bank of Canada. I hung up and contacted the bank - this is their response:
Dear Mr. --------:
My name is Angela, and I'm happy to provide you with information about these calls you have been receiving.
I'm unable confirm if the number calling you is from Royal Bank or not. For our personal banking representatives who make outbound calls, their number will show up as 1-800-289-5108, however, we have several other divisions (investments, insurance, etc) and their numbers would be different.
Our outbound representatives will not leave a message and if they don't reach you, they may try several times during the day.
We'll certainly respect your wishes if you'd rather not receive telemarketing calls from us. We offer you many choices in terms of whether and to what extent we can contact you about our products and services, and we want to make sure that we update your preferences just the way you want. For this reason, we need to speak with you directly over the phone.
Please call us anytime at the number below -- we'll be happy to help you.
Thanks for contacting us via email. We'll be happy to help you again if there's anything else you'd like to discuss.
If you prefer, you can call us at 1-800-769-2511. Also, look for the option to chat live with us on select pages on www.rbcroyalbank.com.
Sincerely,
Angela Spencer

- JerryYup, I just called them back and entered my 10 digit phone number in to get them to stop calling me. It's simple.
If they call tomorrow then I'm going to lose it.
Good luck people - and try calling them to get your number removed from their list. It's worth a shot at least. - Chresus JristI once tasted my own poop.
Not as good as you'd think. :-(- Caller: RBC
- Call type: Debt collector
- carol johnson replies to shystyHello
why would you ever remove your number from the DNC list?? Now any one and every body will be calling you now
I would never remove mine
But keep in mind . The DNC list is only good for 3 years so that means you must put yourselves back on the list if you don't want calls day and nite and from everyone in the universe
ET could call you now, lol,lol - carol johnson replies to SmartmamaThe Credit Alert Pkg offered by all banks is not a scam.
I have it and beleive me it is wonderful.
Somerone stole my ID last May and if I didn;'t have this Credit alert pkg , that scum could have taken out loans in my name and could have taken money from my accounts
If you are not intersted just say no thanks but it is worth every cent
I got th call also, they didn't check their files very good to see I am a member and yes from Royal bank i and they are in the US and Canada - carol johnson replies to GlenYou are wrong about that Glen
No financial institution cannot sell your number, it is against the law when you are a client of theirs they cannot do this
Banks don't do this kind of thing why would they? They don't want to loose customers and that is a sure way of doing it. I have my doubts they sold your number that is for sure. This goes for any company , mutual funds , insurance , what ever . I used to work for a financial institution so I know the laws and No I do not work for any bank
Plus did you ever hear of the Privacy Protection Law. It is law under this law they cannot sell your info of any kind
If you can prove that they sold your number you can sue them big $$$$$ time. And they do have proof of you accusation now so be careful - carol johnson replies to RodRod
The rule is, a company can keep calling for 30 days after you put ypur name on the DNC list. Then they have to stop. If reported more than twice the fines are $25,000 and up, and $16,000 for an individual
I have American companies calling me and there is not a darn thing I can do about it
We cannot put ourselves on the out of country DNC list - carol johnson replies to JThe Royal Bank is in the US also and so is TD. They bought out Amerrican banks that went belly up
But if I were you still report it if you do not do business wirth them. They are allowed to call you to sell you any product if you are a customer of theirs. If you are not a customer then they cannot be calling if your are on the DNC list
so it is not a scam - TallTravIts Royal Bank of Canada (RBC Investments) with some wonderful new stuff for you...yeah right.
