- Bud replies to JoeSame thing happened from this number beginning May of 2011 continuing to Feb 2012. We set up a device to capture calls for documentation. Phone ring 2 or 3 times, when answered, nothing or a dial tone. Several times voices could be heard in background. In our state, only 1 person is required to audio record incoming calls Did that also. When talking with the calling person, listen for very quiet beeping. watch or listen for caller to talk louder to cover the required alert. Caught several on recording. They hung up immediately when challanged. Document. Document Document.

- D JonesI was receiving numerous calls from this unidentified number for several days. No ,messages, just someone saying "Hello? Hello?" and using up my message space. I called the number, and got a machine that wanted me to enter an account number. I waited it out and finally got a liver person who said they were calling someone about a Zales account, which I have never had. I assume it is collections, and they are just dialing any number that might be related to the account they are collecting. It turns out the account holder has the same last name as I do, but I live alone and have never had a reason to use Zales. The operator assured me the calls would stop. If they do not I shall avail myself of the available remedies as some have suggested.

- Nerf BallherderBest I can tell is they're trying to get credit card numbers. Call hangs up when you answer. When you call back they ask for your account number and then hang up on you. Claims to be citibank.
- Caller: Citibank
- shaneThey call every day, several times during the day and leave no messge. I am tired of the calls coming all the time and at odd hours.
- ButterfingleThey called us once again (after calling several times), so I called them back and entered a single number proceeded by the # sign in place of a social security number. I actually got a hold of a real person and she explained to me that she was calling in regards of a Children's Place purchase I made to my credit card. Turns out, I forgot to pay it and Citibank is Children's Place's collection agency - so since my payment was overdue, they tried to straighten things out. I was a bit weary in the beginning and asked them to take my number off of their calling list, but later in our conversation, I realized that had my information, so it must have been legit (also, everything they said - the purchases I made at Children's Place - were exact.) Long story short, it wasn't a scam. Annoying, yes - but not a scam.
I say that if this is happening to you, just call them back and let them explain exactly WHY they're calling; my payment was 40 days overdue, so they might be trying to warn you. Don't be discouraged by the silence on the other line when picking up (also, don't enter your social security - I just don't trust it, no matter who is calling). They said that, since calling your number is automated, it will take a few moments for the machine to answer. Hopefully this is the same for everyone, just be careful when releasing information over the phone.- Caller: Citibank
- appalled| 1 replyTo everyone posting on this site saying this number is from CitiBank or Citibank debt collectors. Sorry to say you are just as bad as the scammers calling. Two words for you….GET INFORMED before posting ignorant cmmments becuase someone maybe trusting enough to trust you and end up in the clutches of these scammers.
As for people commenting and inquiring with genuine interest. this is in fact…A SCAM. They will try to get your persoanl info from you which is why you probably dont have an account with them and will call to inquire if someone has opened one in your name. Its clear as they dont say CitiBank…just Citi (3x)
I know this becuase I called the actually Citibank headquarters and assured me they have nothing to do with it. They are also doing this via email.
