- DedeOK - if you are getting calls from this number on the Health Care Initiative, the company is SEIU. I kept telling them to take me off the call list - then they just hand up.
So, call this number 800-424-8592 and go to extension 7168. This is SEIU and 7168 is their legal department.
Here's their web site http://www.seiu.org/index.php
Good luck- Caller: SEIU

- Shekira BrodheadThis number just keeps calling and calling. I can't stand it.
- Disgusted ConsumerCalled tonight at nearly 8PM. No one in this household is in "healthcare" so don't know how/why they got our name and number. Did not answer; immediatedly logged complaint with Federal DNCList. If enough of us do this they will get fined or sanctioned or warned to cut it out. FCC CAN pull the plug on their "right" to have a phone, so keep the complaints going to www.donotcall.gov people!
- Caller: "Unavailable"
- Activist ConsumerWe also get these calls, like this one tonight at 8PM. We ignore most of them and also get "dead air" or no message on the ans. machine.
This is what you need to know about these calls:
1. Most calls are generated by COMPUTERS which will dial 10-20 numbers simultaneously, and then signal a live person(s)who sits at a phone in a "boiler room" (Office or warehouse with dozen or hundreds of cubicles/phones)waiting for the light to blink to pick up the first one or two calls that someone actually answers. The other 18-19 calls are "dropped" by the computer which then is programmed to call those same dropped numbers later, usually another hour and/or day. Calls answered by answering machines are ususally disconnected without a message, but occassionally the computer goofs and a live person will answer thinking you've picked up. That's why sometime you hear "office" (talking) noise in the background.
2. Most are from TELEMARKETING Companies who are HIRED by "non-profits" including Charities and POLITICAL organizations (notice how the lawmakers exempted themselves!) and "Survey/research" organizations which are all exempt from the Do Not Call rules. Unfortunately, while technically a loophole in the law, these telemarketers are not obligated to take you off "their" lists, because these are generated and supplied by the "non-profits".
3. YOU STILL CAN REGISTER YOUR COMPLAINTS WITH THE FCC, which is the provider and maintainer of the DO NOT CALL list. If you haven't registered your number go to www.donotcall.gov, and follow the easy, clear instructions. Once you have registered your number, you have to wait 30 days to register complaints. However, on Day 31 you can start by going to the same site and clicking on "File a Complaint" and then filling out another easy, quick form, similar to this one. Even if organizations are technically exempt, if the government gets enough complaints about a single number (usually a FOR-PROFIT Telemarketer), it will start to investigate them. Be sure to type the details about RUDENESS, EVASIVENESS, INAPPROPRIATE CALL TIMES, and any other issues you have in details box, like I'm doing here. NOTE: They are NOT supposed to call between 9PM and 9AM YOUR local time, regardless of where they are calling from.
BOTTOM LINE: Having a phone line is a PRIVILEGE, *NOT* a "RIGHT", as most people mistakenly think. The FCC CAN YANK anyone's phone privileges if the FCC deems they are being used illegally, inappropriately or are a danger to national security. SO EXERCISE your RIGHT to COMPLAIN, and REGISTER YOUR COMPLAINTS ABOUT EACH AND EVERY PHONE CALL. This WILL WORK and the government WILL TAKE NOTICE and ACT, if we, their employers, INSIST upon it! - sandyCaller from this number asked for my husband; told "he's not in, may I take a message?" replied, "just tell him we're calling from SEIU, thanks" and hung up.
This pissed me off, so I *69'd and called back... the phone just rings, and rings, and rings.- Caller: SEIU

- JHWe get several of these a day. No one answers when you pick up the phone and say "hello". You can hear some faint music in the background. Very annoying. Someone needs to track the folks behind this blind number down...

- MichaelI have gotten 7 calls from these pests in the past few days. The special election for US Senator from Massachusetts is in a few days.
I am aware that the SEIU is supporting the current state Attorney General Martha Coakley, because she has refused to investigate and prosecute the SEIU for its illegal activities. - elby replies to DH| 2 repliesHow did you come to the conclusion that this is the SEIU? The rest of us didn't get any responses, phone messages or other identifying info, just hang ups. I would think the SEIU want to stay on the line and talk or what's the point?. This doesn't particularly sound like the SEIU's agenda either. Frankly it sounds more like a typical smear campaign with a few common right wing "talking points" thrown in.
- GJ WoolGet several calls from 877-888-8888, I will not answer cause I know they are bottom feeders.
Our automated phone recorder message comes on and they hang up. The very reason.... I have that irratating thing.
Being on the "DO NOT CALL LIST" doesn't prevent the most sleazy of types.
My husband answered once and remarked "They aren't real good at english, if that is their first language!"
After 7 calls I blocked them. Save yourselves, block this number ahead of time if you can.
Do a service to your family and friends and advise them, esp. the elders. - Chris LangmeyerWill not stop calling me. It is really annoying. Shut them down. Down with the unions, they are the the problem with this nation!!!

- PatriciaWhen they call, I just look at the ID number, don't recognize it and never pick it up, they don't even leave a message. Obviously, if they can't leave a name or number there is something that they are selling or trying to find out info. Just ignore it and they will eventually stop calling. I, too, am on the do not call list, but it doesn't seem to help. If they want to waste their money by calling they can be my guest. I never bother to even try to call it back. Soon enough if more people ignore them they'll have to try a different scam. Never give them any information at all.
- Caller: no name
- CAI REALLY DO NOT MIND IF SOMEONE CALL ME FROM MY UNION ABOUT SOMETHING IMPORTANT. BUT EVERYTIME MY PHONE RING WITH THE NUMBER 877-888-8888, THERE IS NOBODY THERE AND IT'S ANNOYING. SO PLEASE STOP CALLING MY NUMBER
- Polled to deathThis is the SEIU, Civil Employees International Union. there are NO opt out options on the incoming surveys, and no obvious opt-outs on the website. I will be calling all the contact numbers over and over, until I am off their lists. I encourage you to do the same. Hound them to create an easy opt-out option.
