I have the same thing with 77277, need to reply with STOP (all caps) to cancel. I was charged $2/sms since July, total to over $150 on my prepaid which auto top up every month. I didn't know until I checked last week. FIDO told me I'm responsible and refuse to pay me back. I am planning to fight for it...

With Rogers assistance, I was walked through the 88588 process of cancelling a subscription that I was not aware of but billed by Rogers, Have told Rogers I will only pay my usual monthly charge. And if they do not accept that then my need for their services will cease. I don't have much need for a phone but have one for convenience since most phone booths are gone from the city streets. Well enough about that, I was given a 1-888-697-6722 to call which was disconnected and no further information was avaliable. So without any ability to contact the company that is charging the said amount, I have no recourse but to withhold the overbilling on my account. Rogers should be able to contact them on my behalf since they do give them a payment which is not subscribed to by myself.

You will continue to be charged $2.00, about 4xweek, until you unsubscribe from them.

You can check out this website: www.text88588.com.....it pretty much explains what they do.

I called them directly @ 1 866 670 0126...'spoke with customer service rep, who said that there will be no more messages sent by them.

    Try it.

I was on my office, friday afternoon, kind of bored and tired. i saw this spyware occuring on my computer's screen about a IQ test.
That sound fun, and i did it. I wrote my cell phone number, as they told me to do, to get my score. I was happy for my score! hahha... but not for a long time.

The same day, When i got home, i was thinking about the IQ test, and i started to wonder, why they sent me my score without no charges!!!! As far as i remember, there is no free lunch on earth!! So around midnight, i decided to read the message i received on my cell phone, to identify if there is any kind of information that could help me to understand!
they wrote at the end of the message: "" help: 18666700126 Txt stop 2 end"""!
After i read the message, i realize that something was smelling bad around! lol
I woke up and start some research on the internet! i end up here, and you guyz really help me to confirm my doubts!!!
I sent the word "STOP", and i receive immediately the message saying that i will no longer receive a question.
I guess, i am one of the luckiest guy on this crap! i stoped it before they started to send me message every day...
I feel very sorry for you!
We must do something to prevent this to happen to people!
I am really thinking about a way to lay them madafuckers down!
I'll give you some news soon!

    Peace!

but actually make sure you type STOP in capitols, and text the company that has been texting you repeaditly. the company that was calling me was 88588. so it could be a different number to you. but the majority of the people are getting texts from 88588!

Same thing happened to me. I texted "Stop" to 88588 and I received a text back saying "You will no longer receive messages from this service". I'm still pissed becasue this was my work phone and I charged up $80 of company money unknowingly. It came to my attention today when one of our accountants was asking if I was using my cell phone differently because there was a larger charge then usual. The nerve of slimballs (phone companies ect) to do this to us just to make a profit.

Just on last Friday, Dec.12th, I found my cellphone bill of Nov. is extremely higher than it should be, so I logged in my account and found un-expected charge I got:
Event         Premium Services     17       Msgs    34.00

I found it not only happened in Nov, it has already started from August. Totally, $126. And I guess they will continue to charge me in Dec, although I have found their web and canceled the "service" on last Friday by sending "Stop" to 88588

    I remembered why this happened:
on July 24th, I browsed the web in PC, a big grocery store (Loblaw?), and they invited me to take a survey and asked my cellphone number, said they would give me a chance to win a big gift. Later on, I got a message from my cellphone, I copied below:
"Ur PIN code is 4817. Enter this PIN on the webpage 2 confirm ur mobile number! Help:www.wixawin.com, $2/Ques,$Qs/wk"
I had no any clue about this message, and just left it alone without doing any thing. Later on I found I received message from the same account nearly every day, just providing a question and asked me reply answer. Without knowing what it is, I left them alone and have not given any reply to it.
On last Friday, I finally found I was registered to www.wixawin.com to receive such kind of garbagy message without noticing, four times a week, and $2 for each.
    My complaints are:
    1. I have not registered this service at least by myself. It kind of cheating to lure me to give out my cell phone number without telling me clearly what the service is and what the charge fee is
    2. I have not actually taken part in their "Game", though I received the messages. I have not given any single reply.
    3. I could not stand they used Rogers as a platform to collect the money without noticing me
I heard telecom carriers, like Rogers, will not give a hoot about this "complain". But I do think it is their responsibility to prevent it happened. Does any body have clue how to help ourselves to get our money back.

I'm absolutely horrified that this company could have been texting me and charging me 2.00 per call without my consent or permission. and cannot afford such "trivia" to be coming through on my cell phone bill.

If you are getting text messages from 77277, 88288, 88588, etc. for which you are being charged $2.00 or similar amount per call, contact FIDO (or other carrier) and DEMAND that the charges be reversed immediately as you did not authorize them. If FIDO (or other carrier) will not reverse them, contact the RCMP (or FBI if in the USA) and report this to them, and ask that FIDO (or your carrier) be charged with Fraud for facilitating this fraud. It is illegal for these any organizations to operate this way... i.e. charging you for nothing. The bottom line is that these companies  are based on nothing but fraud and deceit, as every effort should be made to help put these lousy criminals out of business.

I suggest that we all write to our MPs and TV stations to help them for help.  While sending the STOP msg may stop this 88588 from cheating on you further, we must stop this company from scamming other unsuspected cell phone customers.
