I just called 1-888-355-7209, which was the number that called me.  It is American Heart Association.
I spoke with a rep and asked that my tel # be put on their "Do Not Call List".  He assured me that it
    would happen immediately.

As other post have stated, this is the American heart Association. This is only one of the six phone numbers they have called me from in the past 2 weeks. According to Charity Navigator, the American Heart Association spent $143,496,363 on administration and fundraising last year, which is 26% of their total budget of $550,469,681. Interesting, only 74 cents of every dollar raised goes to the program itself. That is probably why the AHA can have 20+ phone numbers they can use for their harrassing fund raising.

This number called every morning for two weeks.  After reading the other posts that this is from the Heart Association I called this number and the recording stated:
Thank you for calling the Heart Association Dear Neighbor Campaign. please stay on the line for a representive. A person actually answered and I told them to remove me from the list.

I received these calls also, but only once.  When I identify the number as an unwanted caller, it goes on the blocked list.  You don't have a blocked list?   Then you don't have a modern phone service.  The old phone companies like AT&T, Bell, etc., will not let you block an 800 number; and with regular numbers they limit it to 3-5 numbers.  If you have high speed internet service, then you should also have VoIP (voice over internet phone).  This will give you the option of blocking any phone number (my service limits me to 50 numbers), plus about 20 additional options all for free!  I currently use a product called PhonePower (phonepower.com).  It costs me about 13.00 a month when I buy a years subscription.  It works better than MaBell and is the best thing since sliced bread.  I just plug their phone router into my computers modem (using a linksys router too), and then plug their phone wire from the router into my house phone system and wala I have a phone in every room.  Oh yes, did I mention that long distance is free too!  Even to some foreign countries.  No more dialing 1, just the area code and number, very similar to a cell phone call.  One of the better features is the call log that can be viewed online, so you can see every call in/out of your phone, even the blocked ones.  I have my own answering machine for normal messages, but in the event that the line is busy, or not working for some reason, a second answering system is available from the company that kicks in so you never miss a call at all.  If a message is left on their system, they send a signal to your phone which lights up, plus an email with the message attached.  You can listen to the message online.  Their are many VoIP companies operating now, even AT&T has one, Comcast, Vonage, and so on.  I like PhonePower since they cost less, and have been providing me excellent service for over 4 years now.

Have been getting calls from this (& several other) toll-free numbers. I don't answer & they don't leave a message. Found on here that they're calling about the American Heart Assn.'s Good Neighbor collections. Looked at AHA's website and found their number, 1-800-242-8721. Call and tell them you want your number removed from their database. Lady said they've received lots of complaints about the third-party service that's doing their calls -- calling repeatedly, all hours -- and it's under investigation. FYI -- she asked for my name, zip, phone number & found my listing in their database (she read my address back to me). Then she asked for my email address, but I didn't see any reason to give that. Supposedly, I won't be getting their calls.

The Heart Association NEEDS TO FIND ANOTHER AVENUE FOR COLLECTING DONATIONS.  The people that call are paid by their company, who has been paid by the AHA.  They will keep calling as that is their job--and a lot of people have no other alternative than to work for a telemarketing company.  While annoying, they're just trying to make a living.  A complaint to the AHA might be beneficial, if many people will do the same.   I WILL.  WILL YOU?

Being on a "do not call" list doesn't stop these people. So we purchased a new phone system that has "call blocker" built right in....... and bingo..... it works perfect. The calls still come but automatically get screened by the "call blocker" feature. We just add any new numbers we want to block to the list.

This number is the American Heart Association.  I called it back and it's about their neighbor campaign.  I told them to remove me from their list AGAIN.  A different number had called me back in December and at that time I told them to remove me from their list.  Time to get a phone with the call block feature and block all unwanted numbers.

Constantly getting calls from this number.  Every day AND every night!   If I want to donate anything to them, I will send them a check.  They don't have to call and harass me.  Calling me all the time makes me want to NOT donate to them!  One thing I found that may stop the calls---everyone bombard their e-mail inbox!  Send them an e-mail telling them to quit calling you!! I sent them one.  Now I'll wait and see if it works.

what I do is turn on the portabile phone and place it next to the TV speaker, let them enjoy what I am watching.  I get soooooo tired of asking them to remove me from their contact list. My incoming calls from unknown, and 800 and cell calls from out of my area has decreased, but still get a few, in time maybe they will quit spending their time on me.
