You're a racist. yep, a racist. Like, I've never seen anyone of another ethnicity in Canada. The call must be from India.

To Mike Hunt: this is not a solution, unless you really don't care about your freedom of choice. If I do not want a new credit card, it is unacceptable for me to accept it, just because it is a way to stop Scotiabank or any other telemarketer for this matter, to call me. If we, as customers accept this approach from telemarketers, soon they will consider their right and our obligation to buy their products just because they call us and because we create a precedent by accepting to pay for our peace of mind.

I got 2 calls tonight.  Judging by the comments here and on other sites, they seem to be calls from Scotiabank.  I haven't answered any of the calls.  Maybe I should to tell them to remove my number.

They called tonight at 7:15 pm. Didn't answer. I don't know why anyone would answer an 800/866/888 etc number these days.

After reading a few of the messages on here I'm a little disturbed... I don't bank with Nova Scotia, haven't since about 1986... why the hell would they try a marketing method like this that's not only been proven time and again to be ineffective but very annoying and if anything puts potential consumers of their credit products off?! They're calling my cell; pay as I go, so if I bother to answer it's 30 cents a minute. Very few people have my number, so when the call display shows unknown name with that number, why do they think I would pick it up?! I should apply for a job with them, it seems like I could accomplish what takes them a month in about half a day and take the rest of the time off pondering drying paint and/or growing grass while collecting a paycheque...

Maybe their contact centres are calling you if its after 5? Since branches obviously can't get a hold of everyone. And if their calling your cell phone and your on pay as you go and the number shows unknown why do u even bother answering if its gonna cost you???? It's funny when people say they have no business when scotiabank yet their not even aware they have a car loan with them. Just a little info for you if u buy a car the vehicle has to be financed by a bank....the dealership doesn't do it for you its a bank and we should be aware of that to. I do get the calls are annoying but we have to look at it on both sides people....even with scene cards expect a call from scotiabank...I just feel strongly people answer the phone all pissed off, and rude, and with the automatic idea its a scam and therefore whoever is on the other line will probably put u on the list where the calls won't end because of your behaviour.....i'd say probably 10% of people answer the phone in a good manner.....i agree with gizmo....its the attitude and tone....FIX IT!

    This is ScotiaBank.

Just called the 1800-4-SCOTIA from the back of my debit card and spoke to a nice lady there who confirmed calls from this number are from their sales dept. She confirmed some details about me and said she had removed me from their lists and says from now on they will only contact me if there are issues with my account.

Just received second call in the last two weeks.  Scotiabank with pressure to immediately open a no fee account.  Last week it was to receive bonus interest to set up another account, also.  I asked to have info mailed to me for examination and received more pressure to authorize transfer of funds to another account.  I don't know if this is legitimate or not, but I am certainly considering moving all of my business.  I explained I was busy and this was my cell phone, but it was like talking to a wall.
Not impressed one bit.  I don't like having to become rude to get my point across.
