ummm  ... i just got a call from this number aswell.....

Who the [***] is this? A recorded message plays telling me to call this number.

Different voices, but the same message: call us back or else, -- they are threatening to take “matter” to another level.

Umm....This person called me 5 X yesterday during the day and today as well, and never left me a message. Please leave me a message if you call me again!

This number is for collection agency. The name of this agency is: Metropolitan Collection Agency.

Don't answer the phone and don't let it bother you.

It is Metropolitan Collections Agency... they collect for Rogers and a few others.

it is a debt collection agency called "metropolitan credit adjusters ltd" and they will call again ...and again. i owe rogers money and they are trying to get it out of me. they have offices in edmonton..vancouver..mississauga and montreal. by law they cant call you more than 3 times a week.

MCA is not a scam.  It is a collection agency.  You owe money! Do not ignore the calls!!!!!!! Also, it is not against the law to call more than 3 times a week unless msgs are left!!!!

i received the call while i was at work...funny thing is..Im not with Rogers, and i work at a callcentre, with no direct line!... weiiird

and my cell was with telus
so i think not only rogers
it could be from any different company

Just got a call he asked for completly different person, have know idea who he is. I just got my phone and it hasn't even been a week yet. This crap better start!

Just got a call from 905-819-8939 - They said they were a marketing company calling on behalf of the local paper. I told them I didn't want it and to please remove my number from their calling list. She told me it takes up to 31 days to be removed ??? I think that's a pile and highly doubt if that my number will be removed but we'll see.

this is NOT a collection agency! it is a CREDIT ADJUSTOR! These people take YOUR CREDIT SCORE seriously and will assist in finding YOU the Money To pay Your Debt!! Typical Collection agencies are RUDE! and Persist in calling you and threatening, YES MCA does threaten to take to higher levels/ And They do work within the company and Escalate YOUR file to LEGAL! THE best Way to AVOID being Sued BY ANY CREDITOR unless its Government is to PAY YOUR BILLS!!!!! even just small monthly PAYMENTS! Show a commitment to your debts and Stop avoiding facing the problems you may be going thru financially!

LEGISLATION STATES THAT 3 CONTACTS can be made weekly, So calls can go out 40 times a day, and as long as there is no contact made there is no violation of ministry laws! if your debts were taken care of then this would not be a perstisting annoyance to you! They Call persistantly so you don't have an oppurtunity to "forget" about your debts!

These people have been calling me, they said that my bank passed my student load to them. Truth is that the bank passed it to the Gov, and I am paying the Gov. The bank even sent me a letter saying that, that the account has gone to the Gov. Funny too, is that I begun owing them 3,000 now, is 10,000, but then just last month I got a letter saying that I just paid them a sum (which I did not), when I told them I have a letter from the Bank (an official letter), then they told me that I have to trust them, and pay. Then, they send me a letter (cover letter) with they offical coverletter stating that they are the offical bank asking to pay them. They seem to be a scam. How can I get a letter saying, Thank you for paying .... (when I did not), then my amount got reduced (by not much). Plus I got an offical letter from the Gov and from the Bank saying that my debt is with the Gov only. They are a scam as far as I can see it.

They called me about a debt that I haven't heard about in over 5 years.  It is a valid debt, and it was for $1700 for a credit card.  They offered me a "deal" on a settlement... $1500....lol.  Which she wanted in full, by tomorrow.  I told her that she was pretty funny. She asked why I was being so rude...lol.  I told her that I couldn't make that payment, and she says that I should borrow it from friends or family.... again I laughed.  When I told her that I could make monthly payments, she said that this was acceptable, but I needed to make the first payment today and call her back by 3 pm...it was 2:30 at the time of the call....bu***hit.  I told her that I couldn't do that either, and she said that I could "do whatever I wanted, but I have your work information."....whatever.  This is why I am only hearing about this 5 YEASR LATER!?  If you coulda did somthing, you would've done it already.

Funny how they say they wanna work with you, but then give you a list of demands.  When you tell them that you can't do it that way, they act as if they can scare you with "I'm calling from the legal dept."  You nkow how many times I have heard that in my life (I know, i'm a low life that doesn't pay his bills...whatever you wanna call me), and nothing has ever once been done?!

I received this call for the first time earlier today, and I NEVER answer numbers I don't know, it's why I pay for the feature of caller ID.  While I am sure that these are legitement debts that are trying to be collected, they are also OLD debts.  The orginal creditor has sold the debt to this company (and there are several other companies like this as well).  The employees and the companies make substantial commissions and profits off of any old debts they successfully collect from.  These people also like to threaten to tarnish your credit if you don't comply with their demands, as these are old debts, the original creditors have already tarnished your credit, and the new creditors (ie. MCI)cannot send the SAME debt to the credit bureau again!  They only way that these people CAN successfully go back and put another R9 on your credit is if you make any payment to them at all, then the account is active and you go through it all again.

I also have a message for the MCI employee who has graced us all with his/her "wisdom".  There is a saying "you catch more flies with honey, than with vinegar"....so if you REALLY do want to collect more debts than I'm sure you are collecting now, how about treating people with respect, kindness and understanding.  You have NO IDEA what is going on in the lives of the people you are harrassing or what has prevented them from paying their bills.  While there may be some who are low-lives and just don't pay their bills....majority of us are hard-working people and doing the best we can.  The last thing we need is some rude, ignorant, minimum wage-making call centre coward harrassing us at home or work.  So thanks for your advice "to just pay your bills" but sometimes that just isn't possible.  What kind of a low-life would even work in a place like that??

Just for everyone's info--under the Statute of Limitations in Ontario, a debt more than 2 years old cannot be collected upon. Translation-you ceased to pay your credit card bill 2 years ago, and they call now. You dont have to pay it, it went the way of the do do bird --under the statute of limitations in Ontario.
