- username| 3 repliesI got an email from this company saying they were looking for an Administrative Assistant. I checked out their website which seemed okay but I didn't even see that job posted on the site. Anyways, I sent her over my resume and salary requirements in which she asked for just to check this job out. She called me and all she said was that she couldn't find my information and that she had to look it up which doesn't make sense because I haven't even filled anything out yet. So I just went ahead and spelled out my first and last name..Here comes the red flag everyone..you are asking me for my social security number to put in the system for At&t..The only way anyone's getting that information is if I'm shaking their hand because I just got hired and then they ask me to fill out the I-9 form. Some jobs do require a credit check before your hired like banks but these people site isn't even encrypted for me to trust this..Sounds like a big scam to me!!!!

- jonnthomas replies to aniu| 1 replyAs stated a bunch of times in this thread, Artech is a recruiting firm from India that scans the Job Boards for Resumes and then Calls the candidtaes and offers LOWBALL salaries for USA Companies(Many American Companies USE ARTECH to recruit Contract workers)... Let's get this straight... The Artech offers of LOWBALL salaries are Set and Driven by the EMPLOYERS... With the USA economy in the ditch, and with many folks posting their resumes for I.T. jobs, it is the USA EMPLOYERS driving down salaries.... It is a Buyer's Market right now, so get used to it, or do what I do: Don't answer Artech's calls,,,unless you are in dire straights and will accept Lowball wages...
- JR| 1 replyI'm surprised to see the number of postings here.
Yes, they contacted me, and yes I have taken a contract position with them. Time will tell if I run into a problem with them.
My concern is that if any of these complaints here are legitimate why hasn't anyone filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau?
If you have a legitimate complaint, like not paying you the agreed wage, or other issue, and you have documentation to prove your case, do us all a favor and report it! The BBB web site is http://www.bbb.org/us/consumers/
Otherwise, stop complaining that you don't get paid enough. The economy sucks and lots of people are out of work. Any of them would be happy to work for a lower wage, or any wage, for that matter, bad business practices not withstanding. Anything illegal should be reported.- Caller: Artech
- Kris| 1 replyI received a call and an e-mail from Artech, a Delip Kumar, regarding a temporary position in Springfield, OR. Initially, he said the position paid $21 per hour and asked that I electronically sign a contract naming them my representative. Unfortunately, I did. He later called me to inform me the position only pays $15 per hour. I know the position was legitimate, as I was later contacted by the company based on an application I had submitted directly to them. Even they said the hourly rate was $16.
I, too, experienced a very pushy individual with such a thick accent, I could barely understand a word he said. Good luck to anyone who continues contact with them.- Caller: Artech Information Systems
- oneilie replies to ldThe recruiter who approached me gave me a link, http://www.connectwithatt.com/ContractorOpportunities , to explain why they needed my SSN for a contract with ATT. They wouldn't submit my resume without first having my SSN which is ridiculous. I can see providing it if I'm offered a job, but not for a resume submission. Whereas the page looks like the ATT website, it is not housed on the ATT servers.

- Super Programmer| 2 repliesI received an email from a recruiter with this number attached to it. When I spoke to the recruiter who had a very heavy accent, he said he had a 4 month contract opportunity with IBM out of Bloomington MN. He said this work could be done remotely. He said he got my resume and email from dice. He subsequently sent me an email requestion my full first, middle, and last names. His email requested my mailing address and driver'e license number. His email also requested a current resume and answers to quetions such as can you submit to drug and background check. The email also requested 2 references. The email identified the company as Artec. I did a google search of Artec and it seemed like a real company. I therefore sent him a current resume and my full name and mailing address. I did not send my drver's license, nor my SSN, nor my references.
Now I am concerened that they might launch an identity theft attack against me. I have been told by Indian friends that these India companies will take your resume and replace your name with an Indian's name and use your background to market that Indian to client firms. I am also concerned about them getting credit cards using my name and address.
I am ordering credit reports form all 3 agencies within the next week. What other proactive steps can I take to head off any identity theft?
I will stop responding to Indian IT recruiters. I believe the thraet out weighs any potential benefit. I also would like to join any groups who are attempting to bring this to the attention of law enforcement and legislators.- Caller: Artec

They claim to be a NMDSC certified company (National Minority Supplier Development Council).
Below is the mission statement of NDMDSC
Mission
Providing a direct link between corporate America and minority-owned businesses is the primary objective of the National Minority Supplier Development Council, one of the country's leading business membership organizations. It was chartered in 1972 to provide increased procurement and business opportunities for minority businesses of all sizes.
The NMSDC Network includes a National Office in New York and 37 regional councils across the country. There are 3,500 corporate members throughout the network, including most of America's largest publicly-owned, privately-owned and foreign-owned companies, as well as universities, hospitals and other buying institutions. The regional councils certify and match more than 15,000 minority owned businesses (Asian, Black, Hispanic and Native American) with member corporations which want to purchase goods and services.
I believe the intent was to foster business dvelopment among American minority suppliers. These companies are violation the spirit of the mission if not technically violating the mission.
