I'm in the process of finalizing a contract  w/ Artech for a major Fortune 500 Company. They seem to be legit since I had an interview and job offer. They just lie and lose paperwork. Am very, very concerned and they know this.I'm sure its an Indian call center. I keep playing their bluff. Have asked for an 800 number and a lunch date to meet them once I start.

Well, after the minor vote of confidence posted above, I need to retract. They now have all my personal info and have have stalled on a start date for no reason. I will not longer be using any offshore staffing firms. This has been a really horrible experience. I"ve been an IT professional for 32 years and have been contracting for 20 of those years. I have never seen anything this bad.

Did anything ever come of this offer for you?  Am currently working (thinking about) with them on a contract with IBM and have had rude recruiter (Bineeta Sharma 973-967-3332) I am working with.  Never had a recruiter not allow me to speak to the point I had to yell over her to get her attention.  I emailed the IBM person directly to apologize for not going to be able to accept and they confirmed they use Artech quite alot and have current people staffed.  I validated that IBM is a legit IBM employee so not sure what to think now!!

No knowing whether they would submit my resume of now.

So I would do my own research before I give them any information.

Simple Rule: Don't respond to any email or phone call unless you initiated the communication. So if someone randomly contact you saying they got you resume from a job search site or claim you applied to them while you don't remember you did, DONT RESPOND!!

They shouldn't need to do a background check until the hiring company is ready to give you an offer. If they want your SSN, it smells of Identity Theft to me.

They are a legitimate company that only offers lowball rates. I politely asked to be removed from any correspondence with respect to their listings.

When this did not work I started to reply with very crude but creative responses to their inquiries and would bastardize their names if they called or emailed (I repeatedly called one of them Pugsley and another one Rimjob).

After they became offended did they finally acknowledge that they would not longer contact me.

BEWARE! Fraud with-in Fraud: JASON (Above) is a fake post on the behalf of Artech, complete with the common earmarks of very poor grammar and word usage; just like the emails from Artech. This is also known as a fraud intercept post to falsely attempt to validate, or give credit to something that most people find suspicious. Add Shivali Singh at 973-967-3469 to the list of fraudulent contact information. Unfortunately, being an active Job seeking candidate on large boards such as career builder and monster requires a healthy level of professional skepticism and diligence to guard your identifying information.
Statistically, the odds show that birthdays are very good for you.

    Lotus,

Please let us know the outcome, I also received an email and was wondering whether it was valid or not? I'm thinking, if someone or company is interested in hiring you, it should not be a mystery, they call or email you for an interview, etc. I never had to do a background check before I had the job. It would be a waste of time and money, especially if they do not hire you.
