Yeah, they are working through the phonebook in Ireland at the moment, call you by your first name plus the address and then the usual PC virus was the first one, the second realised I was stringing him along and told me to go to hell.

I got this as well. Had lods of fun for about 40 minutes. Tried sending me to www.esolving.com. They even have an Irish help desk number. +353 (0)1 5262981.

Remember, these guys are paying the bill, so the longer you waste their time the better.
You should have heard the heart break in his voice when I told him I didn't have net access after about 30 minutes on the phone to him! :-)

This is a scam from a town in africa. I came across the following link which has some more details on this. Thus far this seems to be a global thing but the seem to be targetting irish numbers. Finding end user contact information is easy if you know how and where to look, especially with the way that data is bought and sold nowadays. take a look here...

all i know, is don't entertain the call. hang up, report the number to your telecoms provider and see to it that they block the number.

I've had multiple calls from this number about a virus on my home computer. A good question to get them to hang up on you is to point out that you've got several computers and ask which one has the virus.

As I run Ubuntu at home I take great delight in telling them about the benefits of running an OS that is more inherently secure than Windows and asking the callers why they haven't considerd running it themselves if they have such problems with viruses. They generally hang up before I get to tell them about the exciting new features in the latest release.

If people try to make my life miserable by scamming me, I reserve the right to have fun at their expense.

Got numerous phone calls from this number here in Ireland. Every time they rang it was a really bad line, and after telling them I had no idea what they were talking about, the line was disconnected.
They kept calling, and for some reason I was convinced this was a scam. The last time they called was yesterday, and this woman kept talking and talking and talking. When she finally finished, I asked her where she was calling from. She kept saying Microsoft and that my computer had a virus. I got more and more angry with ther, because no matter what question I asked she kept saying that same thing over, and over, and over again. I asked her where she got my phone number from, and she started the same story again, that she was from Microsoft and that my computer had a virus! That's when I lost it! I told her to basically f*** off and that there was nothing wrong with my computer. That I had only gotten my phone 3 months ago so I couldn't see how she could have gotten my phone no when I bought the pc. After practically yelling at her a man came on the line (it sounded like they were both from India) and he started saying the same things as the woman. I yelled at him that I had had enough and if they ever contacted me again, I would go to the authorities with their details. Then he hung up!

Within a couple of minutes today myself and my mother both received calls from this number. We live beside each other and would be listed one after the other in the phone book. But nothing was said, silence and then an automated thankyou. What can they gain by hanging on your phone??? Freaked me out! I'm in Ireland.

I live in Ireland and I am constantly receiving calls from this number.  I have told them that I know they are scammers and they become very defensive.  I have just googIed the number and have discovered this forum.  There is one thing to be aware of - teenagers answering these calls while their parents are now around and presuming they are doing right by talking to a so called "MS support technician" so there would be no harm to mention this to them.
I have noticed that nobody can advise if this number can be blocked by irish telecom providers

This is kind of funny now, they called me AGAIN for the 5th time this week...
Ring them back and they speak some foreign language. "This service is not available in your country" was the rough translation my friend gave me via skype.

If you wish to toy with them just say that your doing everything they have said then on the 3rd option you just say "My computer crashed, please hold the line whilst I get the other one I will be about 2minutes as I need the toilet as well" once you done that just make random rude noises and they still stay on the line.. Juvenille I know but I gotta get my laughs some how..

    @ Abby.

Eircom has refused to block them, I don't know why .. I will be meeting with my local installation company that installed my landline for Eircom, I get voicemessages from them on my answer machine and didn't notice until I checked 15 of mine today.
My daughters school was unable to leave me a message because my answer machine was full (I forgot to delete the others) but 12 of them were from this "company".
