I had a call from this number. They claimed to be from Windows Service Centre. They were able to quote my full name and IP address and said they were getting error reports from my windows pc and that there were hackers trying to get to my personal information. They wanted me to put my computer on and I think they would have started to proceed to give me instructions to give them access to it in order to add protection to my computer. I knew that Windows would not contact me like this so put a stop to it. This number really should be blocked as they are operating illegally.

Scam - Now trying get a "survey response" to everyday products you already use. Already had my name and address. Tried to find out what other things I have like PC, Internet, Car etc. Told them no don't have any or those things.

"Strongly suspect" I will still get calls in future from people trying to fix my PC, upgrade Internet or sell car insurance etc. etc.

I have had these calls for years and another one this morning. A well-known (but not by everyone unfortunately) scam. Now they don't claim they're Microsoft but the "tech support team". They can show you a perfectly normal long log file on your computer and convince you it's a serious error file. They will "correct" problem for a fee. This time I kept them on the phone for 3/4 hour (sloooow computer, you know) before they realised they wouldn't succeed. This stopped them scamming someone else and hopefully they won't bother me again. Don't allow them remote access to your computer or give any payment or financial details If not computer-confident - hang up.

ESOLVING SCAM: This is a criminal syndicate operating from India BEWARE!!

They especially prey on vulnerable people like pensioners. I run an IT support business and one of my clients is an 88 year old gent who got nailed twice by these guys. The first time they phoned him (May 2011) saying they were from Microsoft and he had viruses. The caller had a heavy Indian accent. After logging in to his PC with Logmein Rescue, they installed junkware and proceeded to clear his log files and internet histories.

For this he was billed £ 180.00. To add insult to injury, they accessed his Outlook email, pasted text in which stated that he was happy with the service and agreed not to lodge a chargeback with the credit card company. Then they sent this email to themselves from his account, fraudulently making it appear as if HE had sent the email!! Fortunately we were able to assist him in getting his money back.

On 5 Jan 2013, they AGAIN phoned him and performed a high pressure sales pitch, even threatening and intimidating him. He kept putting the phone down but they kept calling back. Unbelievably, but under all this pressure and duress he again fell for it and gave them access to his PC. This time, they stole £ 192.00 from his credit card. The card was cancelled and the amount is being reversed.

It's clear that these scamsters focus particularly on the elderly and vulnerable, since they're easy pickings for this feral scum. They obtain data stolen from NHS patient lists in the UK, and like vultures descend on over 65 victims since they consider them to be gullible, naive and easy to manipulate.

I will paste the text of the email that they themselves sent from his PC once they gained access to hit below.

BE WARNED, THIS IS A SCAM!! These criminals scare and intimidate their victims. They perform NO value at all, it's all smoke and mirrors. The British police have cracked down on these scamsters inside the UK but have no jurisdiction over those outside our borders. They use Voice over IP systems like Skype to make it appear as if they're calling from within the UK.

This is, indeed, the longest running "computer virus" scam on this website.  As the telephone number is fake, via Skype, and the calls come from India there is no way to stop them.

As more and more people are getting wise to the "computer virus" scam these rats have to find a new way to steal from us.  This looks like one of the ways they are trying.  They will want our bank details to pay the money back in.  Obviously, what they will do is take the money out.  Thanks for sharing this as it gives u chance to watch out for it.
