Report a phone call from 00253820308 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- Crazy JohnAbout three weeks ago I was called from this number. Again it was internet security saying I had a virus. I said that ok I'll check the logs. He in a strong Indian accent said this it wouldn't show up. After speaking for some while, and knowing this was a scam, I said that I didn't want to speak to him any more and put the phone down. He then rang back and said that I was too scared to talk to him! I then informed him that I was not scared to talk to anyone, and put the phone down. I have just been called from this number again, as I have caller display I chose to ignore it. Needless to say they did not leave a message!
- babellePhoned today - knew my name but strong Indian accent, so I hung up.
- Keith Aherne| 1 replyScam! Took remote access of my computer
- Caller: Ron Howard
- Nan replies to Keith AherneIf you have read any of the other posts on here you will know to do three things. 1. If you do internet banking contact your bank (use their 24/7 'phone if necessary)and get them to keep a check on your account. 2. Get your computer checked out with a local computer technician. 3. If you have access to another computer change all your passwords as soon as possible. Do not change them on your own machine until after it has been checked out. For future reference, anyone who 'phones regarding problems with your computer is a liar and a thief. There are no exceptions to this.
- DavidGot called from this number today. because i am a business there story was a little different. By the sounds of things they checked out my web site first to see the sort of things i was selling. Initially the conversation revolved around that but then quickly moved to an SEO sales pitch. For those who may not know this is where a company tries to say they will get your business listed on the 1st page of google by using certain keywords that people are searching for in my area. True but google adwords does the same thing. He continued with his pre-planned script to then say he could give me statistics on who is visiting my web site, what they are looking for. where they are from. what device they are using to access my web site etc. Sounds good but when i told him i'm already getting that information fro free using Google analytics he hung up. scammers by the sounds of things or at the very least indian sales call centre.
- Caller: Never heard of them and cant remember
- Call type: Telemarketer
- FredThey are located in Djibouti, on the African side of the Red Sea. You can easily check this by looking up the country code 253 . There is a whole room full of scanners here as you can hear the others talking in the background. They said they were from Microsoft and that my computer was infected with a virus. They wanted me to turn on my computer.
- Caller: Scam
- Mrs LWhoever this call was from just gave me an automated goodbye. What's the point?

- ben| 2 repliesHello
i have also had calls from computer scam companies in the past. THey say they work for Microsoft and
i know quite a bit about windows myself. While the guy on the phone does indeed know stuff about
the insides of microsoft windows, the actual intent of the call is a scam.
THey are trying to tell you that your computer has future problems which are yet to manifest
and they can prevent these future impending problems. It's actually a scam because
what they do is highlight some inherent problems that ALL computers display inside windows
arhives. THe scammer then tries to make out that YOUR specific laptop has these problems
and that it's somehow unusual. It's not unusual at all.
They are often indian people that call.
I live in London UK and its a hotbed for this kind of cold calling.
My only solution to cold calling (which bothers me a great deal) was to get the
BT ANSWERING MACHINE ON MY LINE provided by BT for 1.75 per month and then Dissconnect my
phone handset. This prevents me receiving annoying cold phone calls right in my room here.
Random cold calls have always bothered me ...because i ALSO often just don't KNOW who is calling me anyway until i have answered the handset. Sometimes (but rarely) the phone call is actually from somebody i don't really want to speak to anyhow. (outside of just cold calls)
I have had these phone problems for 10 years....
These days i just expect that anybody who NEEDS to contact me will leave a message. I check my messages on my line each hour everyday..... and then reply if need be. This means that i am always able to be contacted within a good time while not having annoying ALERTING cold calls in my room here. I don't like telephones anyhow since they have a horrid ring and disturb your life at home.
I then do 1471 each hour and google on any strange phone numbers that phoned me last.
In 9 times out of 10, the last caller on my line was some strange cold caller like is mentioned above
such as 002 etc etc.
THese 00 (double zero numbers) phone me up several times per week....all month around.
The reason the phone numbers appear a little strange is because many companies now use INTERNET based phone handsets called IP handsets. These handsets and software are closely related to computers and own strange phone numbers themselves. (they are a lot cheaper than regular phone lines) and the companies can often exist in many different countries on earth not just the UK.
Don't misstakenly think that this stuff only happens on landlines . IT also happens just the same on cell
phones too.
I have been a member of 2 telephone protection systems for over 10 years on my home number
These systems infact DO work extremely well...generally.
b. - simes188I just had a call from this number. The caller clamied that he was calling from the refund department of Micrsoft Windows Service Centre. When I said are you sure? he hung up
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Mo replies to ben| 1 replyDefinitely the 'Microsoft Error' scam. Got me to get the event viewer up (run eventvwr). Then tried to get me to give control over via www.infosis.net. 3rd June 2014
- simes188 replies to MoI've had 2 calls in less than 2 days from this number - one at 9.52 am yesterday and again at 12.12pm today. Yesterday's was from someone called Rina. Todays was from a chap called Davit. He said that they had received error reports about a problem with my computer. When I asked him where the company was based, he said London.
I've just checked 00253 in the International dialling codes and it is the number for Djibouti - RosieThis guy called from this number with a load of rubbish about someone trying to hack my computer. He was very convincing even when I said I had top security features and was an IT expert. He had my landline and address, clearly from a database but was trying to imply they were flagged up from computer. THIS IS A SCAM, trying to get you to go into your computer to either take mobile access and get all sorts of info or get you buy bogus protection (from bolgs I have read)
- Caller: Web Support 24/7
- annoyedyes, this is one of three persistent 00 long numbers cold calling that ring and squeak and click off when the receiver is lifted. BT1471 identifies it then tells me to please hang up. May and June 2014. If BT can identify the numbers of cold callers why o why can BT not remove them?
