No message they just hang up

Call id = 00501

This number called while we were away on holiday; no idea who it was.

I got called by these chaps this morning. Th ewoman on the phon etold me there was good news! My bank would be refunding all charges. When I asked her to prove it by telling me who my bank was she hung up.

I had a call from that number and an Indian sounding chap said he was from Microsoft and I'd been hacked. He said I had unauthorised files downloaded blah blah...

I asked him how he knew and he spouted some [***] about serial numbers. So I said "What version of Windows am I using?"

He guessed Vista lol. I have 7. I called him a fu**ing phishing hacking Bas**rd at which point he promptly hung up!

It's scam of some sort.

PPI compensation if I answer the phone, "click" if I let the answering machine answer. They phone every day, at least once a day, except weekends (!) from this number or several different ones that come up on this website as PPI compensation, as well as several "Withheld" or "Unavailable". So annoying, we've stopped using the home phone. It's harassment.

It was a indian boy, said to me "hello iam from Microsoft " AND you have some viruses on your computer. He said download This anti virus program , ill give you the link wait 2 sec. The program does so they can acces Your pc, if 00501 calls you, the answear is so easy just say " GoodBye "  AND if these guys calls you again NEVER ANSWEAR?

been having phone calls from this number for nearly a year now, they keeps asking to speak to someone who has never lived at my address. the last time they phoned my husband kept them talking by making out he was the person they asked for. he found out it is a PPI company, and they mentioned something about a car loan which neither of us own a car (or a driving license for that matter) only for the to say they will call back tomorrow. but they take offence when you ask to speak to their manager.

Another of these people claiming to be from Microsoft. They phoned me this morning. Told him, succinctly, to "go forth and multiply".

Called yesterday at 9.14 am.  Woman with asian accent said she was calling about my computer (lots of scams going around about this subject).  When I told her she shouldn't be calling as I was registered with TPS became abusive so I shouted back at her.  she hung up on me!

I have had about a dozen of these calls in the last week. We are ex directory and never give the house number out..very wierd.

Just received a call from 00501, they hung up as soon as I answered. We are ex directory as well, but these people must get the numbers from the airline rubbish we have filled in.

Had several calls from this number over last couple of weeks or so. Delayed response when i answered but foreign man was asking me to log onto my computer and follow his instructions because he said my computer was about to crash. I hung up on him. Beware of this caller!!!!!

I got a call from this number this afternoon and it a foreign man saying (in a creepy voice) that he was coming to get me and take me to Heaven.I reported it to the police.I now have to change my number and go ex directory

I got a silent call from this number today - I have received two previous calls from this number and when I told him I would report it he became aggressive and hung up.

An indian guy who said his name was 'Brad' rang and said he was from 'windows support' and that I had a problem with my computer. Told him where to go but 10mins later he rang back. 24hours later he rang again! This time he got an 'ear' full. Its a con! If that number rings you, just put the phone down.

00501 is a complete scam.  They are criminals.  Tell them they're breaking the law by ringing you and listen to them promptly hang up.  You won't get a call from this number again.  Until, that is, they sell your number on to another criminal bunch.

what puzzles me is this : our telephone network providers  and the police HAVE the technology and means to filter out bogus numbers from reaching  the subscribers phones. But the toothless Ofcom and Oftel will not force them to use it.
Lets face it as soon as the caller no 00501 hits the public network  it should be BOUNCED back and the called billed for £10.00 per such a call.  That way all theses phone scammers can be reduced to almost zero.BUT we live in in a capitalist world  and the service providers see these scammers as EXTRA INCOME !!

Ofcom says register with TPS, TPS says they havnt got powers to do much and recomends ICO, ICO is just f beating about the bush of where and how it spends the public money  and  very few examples of any meaningful achievments. It manages to fine an NHS Trust for  accidently losing the crime report of a convicted rapist, yet it has not been able to do much for vast numbers of telephone subscribers who are on receiving end of these bogus callers.As far as I am concerned communication is communication. WHY do we need all these  different toothless government bodies to deal with the  field of communications ??????

i get calls from 00501 regulary but they always hang up when i answer i,m gona ignor them from now on
