- Adamhad a call from this number yesterday, it was an indian guy, he just said hello is this ****? I said who? then they immediately hung up..
I actually had a call from a similar 5 digit number yesterday too, same thing. I never give or confirm my name either way until I'm 100% sure a caller is legit. Clearly whatever they're up to, these guys are certainly not Legit.- Caller: 00501 - unknown
- NarkellGot a call from the 00501 number earlier. When I answered there was no response from them. all I heard was a beep sound and then moments later the call was ended. About 30 minutes after I got a call from an unknown number but refused to answer. Any idea on how to stop them calling you?

- snyperI was phoned by this number and it was an indien woman claiming i have a virus on my computer. prior to this call i had another one witch when i answered was silent then an automated voice said ''good buy''.the call was withheld though...im guessing it was the same people but thay forgot to witheld the call the second time.the automated phones first to see if anyone picks up then a few days or even weeks later they try to call you claiming your computer has a virus.anyone els experince this?
- Sheikupcall replies to MissyThe people using this are fakes probably internet fraudsters or phishers. The call I had was from a rather insistent Indian female, who claimed to be from Microsoft's appointed engineers, warning me about a internet security issue virus or bug of some sort. I have no doubt they were fakers as I don't use Windows on my computer.
- Kev replies to MissyIt's somebody calling from India, trying to get you to have loft insulation.....if you tell 'em you don't want it, they move on to cavity wall insulation, then central heating boiler....etcetera, etcetera
- jenny replies to Uday| 1 replybeen getting this number call me on and off since 8am this morning - when I answer its a recorded message saying unlock money in your pension - press 5 to speak to someone and 9 to stop the calls. Pressed 9 but its still bloody calling me arrrrgggh
- Faze replies to jennyIm in the same boat as you, ive had 7 calls since 08:33 this morning.
Something about unlocking a pension. I also pressed 9 to opt out but they still chuffing call! - AnnGot a call today from (00501 phone number) female claiming their server has picked up my computer has been hacked into and my data is in danger of being stolen. Scare tactics. They will get you to look into a Log and filter on the errors and warnings and there will be some listed. It told her it was a fraudulent call and I would report it to the police. At which point she laughed, knowing the police would do nothing, and said ‘Why do you say that, you're computer is in danger.' I had to laugh, and told her I work in IT and she is trying to scam me. They will try to get access to your computer and may ask for your debit/credit card/bank details (Try to sell you some antivirus software). Don't be taken in!!! My parents have had similar calls. I'm ringing about your computer; they laugh and tell them 'I don't have a computer' then put the phone down. It's sad to know some people may be taken in. Spread the word!

- ObzyJust got a call from this no. Any idea who
- GeoffGot a call from 00501 today but didn't pick up phone. A message was left on answer machine "Please die!"
- Welsh-ChrisHad three calls in the last hour. First was from 00501, then "Unknown" or number withheld, finally +100000000. Suspect all are from the same nuisance caller organisation. I never answer or call these numbers back. I know with 99.99% certainty they are a waste of time, The 0.01% genuinely trying to contact me can leave a message if it's really important!
- Starman19th March 9.35am. Asian indian accent - he was from "Windows Technical Dept" and they had detected there was something wrong with my computer. I asked how did he know I'd got a computer? He immediately rang off. 1471 revealed 00501 and that I could call back by pressing a number - no way of course. Sounds like the old scam "we can sell you some duff software to solve your non-existent problem." They will probably "prove" you have a fault by asking you to open your "event viewer" - don't.
- JRHPickup, line is dead until you speak - Then you immediately get someone with a thick Indian accent banging on about a survey.
My usual trick is to answer with "Police Emergency, go ahead caller", then when they are on the back foot rip in to them for calling a Police Emergency number etc. They usually dsconnect fairly quickly!
It's quite funny really, as I have visions of "Fonejacker" and Internet Service Providings when they lunch into their spiel :-)- Call type: Telemarketer
- Tea timeCalled at 5.45pm today, lady with foreign accent claiming to be from local company saying I could take advantage of government initiative to unlock pension funds now. Wanted me to confirm my name and address so her manager could write to me about this fantastic opportunity. I declined!
I suppose I should be glad these scammers rang at tea time, not in the early hours.- Caller: Unintelligible
