Report a phone call from 01138 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- Anthony C| 1 replyJust got another call from 01138 number. Again, hung up on answer.
- Chris MSame here. Someone just called - sounded like an Aussie. Claimed it was market research, but then started asking all these questions, such as whether we have c.c. debt and whether we wish to donate to various charities. When faced with "This does not sound like 'market research'", he said "This is market research" and immediately hung up.
Checked the number on 1471 and got 01138. - Anthony CI have been informed by BT that 01138 is a bogus international number...It is basically the number given when the caller hides their number but it comes from international location.
BT offer caller ID for free if you are interested, call 0800 121 8000 - Colin & DawnHad two calls from 01138 and 01028 today. Line went dead on both occasions when we answered. We are on the TPS too.
- Peter HHad a call at 8.41 pm , amswer machine was on, no message left
- BethHad the same number call us! Picked up the phone and someone asked if my mum was in, and when i said no they said oh and hung up...driving us mad!
- LyndaReceived a call asking for me by name, in a strange automated foreign voice. Then the line went dead
- CozmikGot a call from 01005 about 10 minutes after a call from 01138. Didn't answer either call, could only be something unsolicited and annoying from such a stupid number! Also, checked the posts for 01138 and guess 01005 is something similar!
Received a few international calls during the day last week (no caller ID, just international). May be related, or may be other more annoying, unsolicited calls!
Get a real job!- Caller: Unknown
- MulcahyDaughter answered phone found that it went dead. Frightened her.
- Caller: Unknown
- StJohnJust got a call from 01138, no one there though. Possibly a predictive dialing system that dials a hand full of numbers and takes the first caller to answer., then just drops the others..Annoying that I can't find out which company is doing it...
- Caller: BT/Tiscali
- JoanJust got a call from this number and like the others the phone went dead. It looked like a strange number so I looked it up here. I live in the Blackpool code area. I am also with TPS. The last time I complained to them they sorted it out with the company and I got a very nice letter saying how they were dealing with it. Result, no more phone calls! But I don't hink you should have to go to all that trouble. Why don't phone companies make it easy to block callers? Surely in this day and age they can?
- JoanIt's me again. Just found out that talktalk (who I'm with) offer a blocking service. It costs £3.18 a month though. http://www.talktalk.co.uk/help/questions/TEC_04_13
That'll teach me to do my homework! Still can't find out who called me though. - JoanIt's me again again. Just checked out the link further back about a gadget that the Dragon's Den guys backed. It's a little box that costs nearly £100. http://www.truecall.co.uk/?gclid=CLWWvqbvnpwCFd0B4wodSznYew Now if a small entrepreneur can make one and TalkTalk want to charge us for blocking spam calls? Clearly everyone's after our money! Including the spammers! What chance have we got?
- RobJust had a call asking me to confirm my address etc. who can it be reported to?
- Caller: wish i knew!
- JessThis number rings and either just hangs up or they ask for my mum who I says not in, they then ask me to confirm my personal details (as a family member) then ask for my name and when I say I'm not going to give it to them they hang up
- EllieWe have had the exact same problem, they have called atleast 4 times today, and there is no one there. very annoying!!
- KennethThe 01138 number called this morning at11.24 am. An International number called yesterday at 12.14pm and the day before at 12.54 pm. We have BT's free caller display and have just let the answering machine deal with them. The first International number heard the beginning of the outgoing message and rang off and the second one rang off before it played. The 01138 number heard the beginning of the outgoing message and rang off. I often get a spate of these calls and this method stops them. From time to time I answer one but if I say I am not interested the 'phone is hung up rudely without an apology so my conscience is clear and I know I am dealing with not very nice people. I know it really annoys old people and makes them frightened and angry. I could subscribe to the telephone blocking serrvice with BT or invest in Truecall but as many of you have said they cost money and the real answer is for BT to identify these numbers for us and to prevent all numbers being withheld, unavailible or international. Clearly if they can block them they know the caller id. Why can the customers who pay for this service and their existence not have these numbers too? You would not open your front door to a man with a mask on.
- joantotally sick and tired of these people-they have got to be stopped.
- John T. LewisWe're with BT but don't have caller ID (yet). Took a call yesterday, man wanted to do some sort of market research, I declined. Since then I've had half a dozen call, no-one answers and then the call is disconnected. 1471 reports caller is '01138'
Can't imagine what these calls achieve, apart from aggravation! - Malcolm harrisI received my first call from 01138 this morning, as I have caller recognition I allowed my answerphone to pick it up. As seems to be the norm the line went dead. I too am with TPS. Who are these people?
