Received 3 calls the first One just went dead when I answered, the Second we left to go through to answerphone but hung up when the answerphone kicked in and the Third I spoke to a man on a very bad line who asked for me by name which I confirmed, said he was from Lifestyle research and wanted to ask some questions. I gave him my usual response and put the phone down. We are also with Talk Talk and with TPS!!

I blow a football whistle down the phone .. loudly ha ha. Its your phone you pay the bill so don't put up with these weirdos.

Twice this evening I rec'd  phonecalls but no-one spoke when I answered.   The first time , I rang 1471 and was advised the number was witheld.The second time, I rang 1471 and was given the number 01138

This number keeps silent calling my land line. Any idea why.

Calls then keeps hanging up when answered bloody nuisance.

We've had 6 calls from this number this evening, the first two times I answered and they just hang up, third time I answered but didn't say anything for about 20 seconds, as soon as I said "Hello" they hung up, stopped answering and did 1471 this number came up.  So annoying!

It's happened to us for 2 days running. Live in Slough dialling code.

In this day and age it's a joke phone companies can not do anything about it.

Called three times this morning. Man with strong accent asked "Am I speaking with Mr Frank Ford" Me:"As I am a woman I would say no" Him:"Are you a family member?" Me:"No, I have never heard of Frank Ford" Him: "Are you a friend of his?" Me: "Well as I have never heard of him then I'm obviously not a friend" Him:"Are you the home owner?" Me:"Let me guess, you are now going to say you don't need Frank Ford, anyone will do then proceed to sell me something". He put the phone down.

I have caller ID so keep picking phone up and putting it on side for couple of mins then putting it back down.

I am TPS registered but i've had 8 phone calls today within 2 hours. the first two calls asked to speak with my husband who told them we were not interesed. All the rest went dead when answered apart from the last one when i spoke to a lady who hung up on me when i asked her name & told her she was the 8th call. Gettin fed up of it now!

It's just happened to me on my landline and then I got a text on my mobile from my sister who lives in Turkey and she says it was her who was ringing me on her Skype so the 01138 might be Skype systems.

Just recieved a 01138 phone call, line was silent for 4-5 sec I had seen the odd number come up in the display and presumed it was of my banks that had forgotten that they are not to call my home for sales.  He asked if I was the owner of the number then started talking about a charity. I asked (as he mumbled on) how he got my number, he then said I was being rude (luckily I overlooked this comment this is laughable) at which point I asked more firmly again how did you get this number, He asked is it ex directory?, I said yes and he apologised and hung up. I am TPS registered.

We are registered with the TPS but have received 2 phone calls in 24hrs from the 'Yorkshire Opinion Poll' which on closer inspection seems ti be a fake company. As they could not actually pronounce the word 'Yorkshire' I am assuming they are from another country and just using a cover story which is unfamiliar to them. The annoying thing is that they are obviously hashing together contact information as they asked for my boyfriends Grandmother - who died over 2 years ago but used to live here - but have called our number which has only ever been registered in our name. It's not like they've even bought out of date info as they've updated it with our number!
I assume that the TPS can do noting as they are based outside the UK.

my mb phn has been ringing whole day even now with this 01138 number due to premium rate scams i have not answered any of the calls but my phn will not stop ringing its my contract mobile number of years each call is going to my ans phn on my mb which i,m not sure if whatever scam they are doing can even run up my mb bill by going to ans phn .The whole day my phn non stop ringing more than30 calls ive just googled number on internet to find i,m one of prob many thousands been disturbed any one got any advice pls also i noticed some of u have something called   TPS is this some type of call security and can it be used for mobile contract lines pls pls can anyone forward me some advise its driving me crazy disturbed my whole day and still disturbing my evening,thanks mish

the dead lines mean someone has already answered a multi dial,,i.e they ring say 10 numbers from a computer, and speak to the first person that answers,, drives me nuts...just had one now, it's 10pm !!!!!!

I have had more than 10 missed calls from an 01138 number & am registred with TPS. Very annoying.

Just had a call from a 01138 number. It stopped ringing just before I could take the call. No idea what it was about. Went online to see where it could be coming from and found this site.

have recieved calls from 01138233485 a few times the dont respond so i hang up i dont leave them any info i wish i could get the number blocked as i am retired i dont need the agro

I had a call from 01138 591300 and when I answered it it went dead. I don't know anyone in the Leeds area and did not call back

It was a claims management company for PPI. I mentioned TPS he said they would take me off the system!
