Asked for bank details to repay over charges on phone insurance. Hung up on them.

I have just been had! they said they were calling on behalf of my insurance company and they said I'd payed too much on my windscreen excess ( i replaced my windscreen that month) and needed to refund it, gave them my details and within 10 min they had taken £59.99 out of my account, I was so stupid to give my details but they were so convincing

If only my fiance had seen these messages sooner !! He like many others has received the famous call today telling him he has been mis-sold PPI and is due a refund of around £500 on his car finance. They asked him to confirm the last 4 digits of his bank number and his date of birth. Seemed like they already knew most of his info and unfortunately he confirmed this info. Was told it would cost him £59.99 to start the claim going and an info pack would be coming out to him shortly. These cold callers really are a piece of work. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE THE TIME OF DAY !!!

I had a call from this number also, they asked for me personally and quoted my DOB. Luckily my daughter was not here to give me her card details!!!! I can't believe it

i have just been caught out by this number who claimed to be  bt, i did give my details like an idiot and feel really stupid as soon as i came off the phone it just didnt seem right and i checked number on internet by the time i got to bank they had debited 59.99 from my account.

I've just had a phone call from this number.  Answered it, they hung up with 1 second on the clock.  I won't be calling them back but I'm concerned that comments posted above seem to indicate they have access to information on you already?  Why would that be the case if they're generating numbers at random, which was posted in an earlier comment?

Someone needs to investigate this.

who are phoning, and that they are probably going to claim that they have sold you a service.

What you need to do is to send a letter by Recorded Delivery and a copy to your bank with a covering letter.  Address it to 'To whom it may concern' and then put 'Re: Consumer protection distance selling regulation 2000'.  Then explain what happened and tell them that you wish to cancel any service or contract that they claim to have sold you and that you want a refund within 7 days and give a date for that.

I have also asked for compensation for the time and work involved in rectifying this matter.

I've not used the info myself as I'm not going to ring them back, but hopefully it will be of use!  My thanks to Mr Draper who found it on the other website.

They said i had paid for a PPI which i shouldn't have and that i was due a refund of £59.99 + 8% interest. I asked what was this from, she said'it doesn't say but it'll be from a loan/mobile phone or appliance' then asked for card details.
I asked 'which card was it'
She said 'the one i paid with at the point of purchase'
I just told her i hadn't got my wallet on me and wouldn't have till much later.
Said she call back but never did.
Had a feeling this was a scam because i've never taken any insurance out on anything!!

Called by these people on mobile.  Say they are TTL and deal with repayment of card protection.
I told them b*****ks and rang off.  I do not have card protetion.

Why are these guys not locked up for this.

Just had a missed call from this number as well - I am on Orange.  Glad I didn't answer it.

I have never had PPI so warning bells would have been ringing straightaway.

Do these people seem to know some of your details already or are they just clever at getting the details from you?

My partner just got a call from them thought it was dodgy so I called them and asked for a website they give me www.companieshouse.gov.uk which I knew was a scam has soon as he said companies house who do not deal with PPI, I have called companies house and they have confirmed this is not them and are looking into this, This is terrible I think we should all ring back and give them abuse and we should tell the police, The bank has confirmed that under no circumstances should you give out your account details to anyone except the bank

I just got this of Companies House website they are a trading company, when I call them back the girl said their own website is getting updated, I told her I knew this was a scam has did many other people she said it wasnt so I just hung up

Missed Call - It never rings as it work Blackberry!!  I use mobile for that!

Just had the call, asking if I had reclaimed my PPI for any mortgages, credit cards or loans in the last 12 years. I asked where she got my number from, to which she said 'my system'. So asked where the system got the number from... she said, 'we're a government listed company'. Riiiiiight ok then! Hang up.

What a bunch of Tossers!

The call dropped as soon as they rang me, but I googled the number and here I am.

I quite fancy ringing them back whilst withholding my number to frighten their pants off with some idle threats...

Just had a stroke of luck cause i missed their 4 th call since i changed to orange a few weeks ago
