This is not Lloyds TSB. The real bank told me that they only use 0800 numbers and do not have an Indian Call Centre. I have reported this fraud. DO NOT GIVE ANY DETAILS OVER THE PHONE. I asked the caller for a reference number for the call and to write to me on the business/account matter. That stumped them.

I can confirm that this is a 'Collections' facility for Lloyds TSB Bank. This was validated by my enquiry to lloyds directly. However, I did ensure that responses i have read on this website were based up the management chain to lloyds officials; namely that:-

    1. These people lie on the telephone - I was told the call was from india when clearly it is from Brighton.
    2. How rude these people are on the telephone and that some further taraining in personal interaction is required.
    3. How do they expect anyone divulge personal security information on the telephone wihout verification that this IS Lloyds?
    4. Clearly the calls are not justified in many instances because  they do not seem to take into account other banking information (I overlooked one small payment on a credit card when clearly my financial status is quite healthy).

Lloyds TSB have told me this number is used by their card collections department, based in India. They will call you if your card payments are in arrears, but cannot discuss the account with you until they have positively identified you. They should not ask you for any passwords or other confidential banking information, but will ask for details of your address.

Lloyds TSB's official line is: "We will never contact you to ask for your personal information - if you get an email or a phone call asking for this information, a fraudster is at work." yet this caller requested personal details.  Very fishy!

I had a call from this number saying there was an urgent problem with my Lloyds TSB account.  I refused to give out any personal details so they gave me a number to call.  However, I rang the contact number on Lloyds TSB website instead.  They confirmed it was Lloyds credit card department.  They need to adopt better procedures as why would you give out personal details to someone who calls your mobile.  It could be anyone!

I had a brand new BT line put into a brand new house. Due to some tech probs the line was activated at BT end but not connected at my house. When the problem was rectified I had 4 messages from this number which claimed to be Lloyds TSB. I have never ever had a LLoyds bank account, credit card or anything, and the person they were asking for was not me. I managed to catch some of the calls whilst I was in. The first from India, I told them that I was not the person they wanted to speak to. They asked where the account holder was, and I politely told them that I do not know the account holder and they hung up.
Numerous other phone calls and I was telling them not to call. Then the final one took the biscuit.

Indian woman rang up asked for Mr ....Bloggs
Me: sorry no Mr bloggs lives here and can you please stop calling this number.
    Indian: Is Mr bloggs there?
Me: THERE IS NO MR BLOGGS LIVING HERE!
INDIAN: This is very important and I know you are Mr Bloggs. It nis best for you that you talk to me.
Me:(Thinking lets have some fun)...OK you caught me its Mr Bloggs
Indian: Ok Can I ask Your Postcode and DOB
ME: (gave made up, but real postcode and made up DOB)
Indian: sorry they do not match our records
ME: what? (Start the Drama) OH MY GOD....I dont exist.....My identity has been stolen....OH MY GOD.......(go on for 5mins like this)
Indian: MR Bloggs.. Mr Bloggs wait.
Me: oh I have something for you.( At this point I let the biggest, loudest, wettest sounding fart off down the phone.)
    Me: Did you like that?
Indian: (silence) but still on the line.
ME:Now if you go and sniff your lunchbox you will be able to smell it too.
    Indian: (silence)
    ME: hello?
    Indian: Goodbye!

And since that day I have never had a return call.

I have just received yet another call from this number. Must be the 7th or 8th call over the last week or so. New mobile number too and still receiving calls. Every caller has asked for someone different. I have never held a lloyds tsb account of any kind. I will never give out information over the phone. I have given up answering now. Is there anything you can do to stop calls to your mobile?

They purport to be working for Lloyds and call themselves BNS Collections located in Brighton. That was all I could find out before they started quoting the Data Protection Act. I wouldn't give them any details before they identified themselves and just chucked the DPA straight back at them. I don't mind costing them as much money as they want to spend on the telephone :-)

I have had several calls from this phone number.  I have been told the caller is Tariq from Lloyds TSB.  He wanted me to confirm my address or DOB details before he would continue the call.  I didn't like the sound of it.  I asked what it was regarding and he said he couldn't tell me until I confirmed my details. I said I wouldnt do that. I tried to get him to write to me and he said he couldn't. I said get a computer and write a letter.  He said I could either call another number 0845 600 6393 or go into a branch to find out.  He kept saying it was a very important matter.  I said I wouldn't waste my time going to a branch.  I have not nor ever had a Lloyds account.  All the details he said he had on me were ones anyone could get from the electoral roll or other general places.  I just felt he was probing for info from me.  I put him on hold while I talked to my husband and he hung up. I called both numbers 'apparently' Lloyds but anyone could set up an answerphone.  I really dont like the feel of this.

    You're ignorance report
"I think the FSA should make it illegal to ask for your date of birth in a old call."

It is a legal requirement for the caller to ascertain they are speaking to the correct contact.

How happy would you be if a wrong number was dialled and Lloyds gave away your personal info to a complete stranger!??? Thought so...

As for the common misconception that TPS will stop organisations that you have signed up to/given information to/owe money etc from contacting you. Wake up!

Also TPS only lasts for a year, when did you renew it? 99% of people forget this. Regardless if you have signed up to an organisation and given them your details TPS doesn't mean a thing!

Unfortunately I work at a call centre. In this job market and economic climate it is all that is available. Please have some respect for your fellow human beings, they are just doing there job (to strict regulations I might add)

Been calling for weeks now on my works mobile number asking for someone who isn't me. I always seem to miss the call and they leave a message asking to call back on 0845 600 6393. Finally gave in today and did so hoping to speak to them and tell them that I am not the person they are looking for. Got through to a recorded message asking me to type in my credit card number - I don't have a Lloyd's TSB card and wouldn't do it anyway. Will just have tohope that I pick up their call one day and can tell them it looks as if they have been scammed!

It is certainly Lloyds TSB CC. They ring me constantly even though I tell them I will not give details out over the phone. Had my cc cloned last year, so am very careful now. Anyway, I told them they could contact me in wrting. Their reply, "we cant do that". Checkmate, I will not give you details, you cant write.

Bless them though, they took the money straight out of my bank account anyway, such a help, my mortgage bounced instead.

I have been with Lloyds for 20 years and have been more than happy until now. Their attitude and lack of undertanding in the current climate is disguting. Christ haven't they got enough of our money via the government.

The were phoning me to tell me that even though I had paid what they has asked for, when they put the interest on it took my over my limit, so what is more important to LLoyds, my CC or my mortgage (also with Lloyds). They think my CC. Left me £20 short of my mortgage which the didn't pay, then I had the all the charges as well.

So beware if you current account is with lloyds and you miss a payment or go over the limit on you CC, they will take it out of your bank account without any notification. It's legal too.

Makes me so angry. Think I will be moving my current account.
