It's no use simply having a moan here. Go to http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/phone-nuisances/ and sign the petition.  After 19 pages of complaints here, they're not going to do anything voluntarily.  And for those who've not fully traced the source, it's IPSOS-MORI, the market research shower.  They are currently exempt from regulation because they're not selling anything.  Hence the petition.

Caller asked if I operated any machinery or anything. He then asked if I drive. Said "no". He said "you on mobile" and put phone down. Cold call so looked up number on net and found this site.

What right have they got to even ring my phone? if I wanted them to ring me  them I would of given them my number. So to the nob called GhostOfDouWoo I have looked at your comments and can say your are a Muppet I have told survey time after time politely I am not interested but guess what they still ring me back  so GhostOfDouWoo get over yourself you Muppet and live in the real world they are there to make money because the information is then sold on to other company’s who then in turn  contact you trying to sell you [***] you don’t want .

People like this get your no. from a computer hooked up to a phoneline that goes through all possible no.s and before your phone even rings it regognises the no. is connected and hangs up, puts the no. onto a list to be phoned back by a "real" human being at a later date. or sold onto other companies. Not illegal... Bloody should be though.

I've had about ten missed calls from them in the last three days - have never answered, but goes to prove that just not answering will disuade them from trying to contact you... I then searched online and found this... will answer next time and ask them to remove me from their list... if no joy will contact my network provider and ask them to block the number as-per-harassment policy.

    RE: Comment Above

As it turns out, the company did have a genuine reason for contacting me and had obtained my details from an organisation I had helped and were wanting to obtain my impression re: service. The lady was perfectly polite (especially following my rather abrupt introduction immediately asking for them to take me off their contact list). Main problem I noticed was that the estimated time by which the interview would take was 25mins... bit unrealistic. I thanked her for her politeness and asked for the company not to consider me for further contact.

So may things posted here are inaccurate.
Market Research Society governs all legitimate research companies and have very strict guidelines about who they can and cannot call.
As the added remark above shows, if you actually give them a chance to explain why they are calling you might find that it is something you want to help with.

If you choose not to take part in a survey you are entitled to say so and they should not call you back again for that survey - although at some point late they may invite you for another survey.
Some one has a fantastic idea of some sort of computer system thats finding their phone numbers but thats not how it works.
Next time ask thenm where they got your number and if you're not happy, contact whoever gave the number to them

Finally, next time you read some pieece of reseach that claims that 90% of the population support something and you think that figure is inaccurate, realise that you maybe could have had the chance to express your opinion - if you hadn't chosen to ignore the call or be rude to the person making it.

Ipsos Mori is one of the country's largest research organisations and maintains much higher standards than many others - and most of their clients are in the public sector - so its your money that is paying for the research.
So why not have your say.
Or at least tell them you are not interested rather than saying you don't have time or are busy which results in them phoning bach to see if you do have time or are less busy (think about it - I don't have time now would suggest that if you call me when I do have time I will do your survey)

This was Abscess Mori doing a poll.
The guy didn't even wait for me to say hello before he was off doing a schpiel about being from Ipsis Mori and seemed to be saying he'd phoned earlier.
Not being interested in helping them out this afternoon, I meanly pretended it  was a dead line, swore mildly at computer dialers which ignore Telephone Preference Service wishes and hung up.
Apart from the money, why do people do this job? I hope the pay's good, because to be that loathed by what I believe to be the majority of those called must be difficult to live with if you have any self respect.

Well they called me regarding my applications to the Criminal Records Bureau
I just politely completed their survey and their genuine, no money questions involved
just asked me about the service I received when applying
then at the end they give you the option not to recieve anymore calls or contact from them
So my advice would be to just sit it out and complete the survey and then let them know at the end that you wish for no further contact only took like 5 mins and its better than them ringing you contantly, wouldn't you agree?
its better then being an a**ehole about it all, because sitting on here complainig about it ins't going to change the fact that they call you 5 times a day!

Rang me today, didn't answer as I have caller ID. Reported for violating TPS. If you receive a call from them and your number is regitered with TPS not to receive unsolicited calls, I suggest that you also report them.

They are making money off your back for zero return, in short they are scum.

I don't think 'the vast majority' loathes me - I have lots of friends!

But seriously - have none of you people read anything that has been posted previously?
If it botheres you that much, there are plenty of notes on here explaining how to stop receiving these calls.
It also explains that research is exempt from the TPS.

Chris - nothing to do with Credit Security Ltd - get your facts right!
