- BartAlexander Graham Dell should turn over in his grave and hang his head in pain. It's terrible what this lot has done with his mobile phone invention.
- Claire H| 1 replyoh wow, 34 pages dedicated to this phone number, must be bad!
Got a call from them overnight and googled it as didn't recognise the code - glad I thought to check it and didn't call it back!- Caller: Unknown
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Pat01313012940
Who is this?? Very freaky man's voice. I put the phone down - NormanI swear to god I will do time.
- Postie replies to Claire HThere are two reasons why there are 34 pages of comments on this number.
1) Until very recently this company was interviewing 500,000 people each year for a quango called Sport England. http://www.sportengland.org/research/active_people_survey.aspx
2) Some morons claiming to work in the call-centre have taken it upon themselves to argue with people here, rather than accept with good grace that some people object to cold-calling period. I guess that's what happens when you employ self-righteous students.
If you want the company to stop calling you, you can email them here, telephone@ipsos-mori.com and they will stop - BrianI once answered a call to these despicable people, and they had the Gall to ask for my views on politics - but i saw through their viscious scam. MY VIEWS. What the hell else will they want next. I'm not giving them my opinions for sure, they're all mine, I don't want to have my opinions phished do I! Imagine that, some little fraudster in Nigeria going about using my views and opinions. What would I do then? I'd have to borrow some views off someone until my bank could refund my own opinions, and that could take weeks. Once knew a chap that went wthout his own thoughts on a subject for nearly 2 months. That's just inhumane.
- DiI have been contacted 3 times in one day - each time they ring just twice and then ring off before I have had time to pick the phone up!
- Caller: www.ipsos-murray.com

(I can't stop them, but at least I can waste some of THEIR time :-)
- scheuy12Got a letter off IPSOS MORI to say they would ring me re a qualification I had just finished - made sure I told him how low paid I was & that no I would not be getting a payrise...lucky I was still working due to the state of the country!!! I also told him not to put me down for any more "market research". He was quite polite & probably the least annoying (as I do get a lot of these calls - am ex-directory).

Have you been contacted by Ipsos MORI by telephone?
Ipsos MORI is commissioned by a wide range of organisations to carry out a large number of research projects each year. In conducting this research we make contact with millions of people each year and rely on the goodwill and voluntary cooperation of individuals in order to carry out the research across the world.
If we have called you, and you wish to prevent any further calls, please email telephone@ipsos-mori.com providing your contact telephone number. Please note: in order to do this, we will need to store your number on a database to ensure we can exclude your number on future studies, as they are generated at random for many studies, and so to avoid any chance of us re-contacting you, we need to retain your number. We absolutely guarantee that our "Do not call" database will not be disclosed to any third party, nor will it be used for any other purpose, and contains only telephone numbers, and no other details whatsoever.
Requests will normally be processed within one working day, but on occasion it can take two working days to process.
Please find below answers to some of the common questions we are asked regarding our telephone research.
You called me recently and I have further questions or a complaint and would like to prevent further calls to my telephone number.
Where did you get my telephone number from?
My telephone number is registered with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) and/or BT Privacy service to stop cold calls so why are you calling me?
Why is my opinion important?
How do I know the information I supply is safe?
You called me recently and I have further questions or a complaint regarding that contact or would like to prevent further calls to my telephone number.
If we have contacted you recently, and you have any specific questions or complaints regarding our telephone contact with you please contact our Telephone Requests Section on telephone@ipsos-mori.com. This email address can also be used to request that we cease any further future calls to your telephone number. Please include your telephone number in your email to assist us in dealing with your enquiry. In most cases your request will be actioned within one working day, however in busy periods it may take up to two working days to respond. The telephone numbers we leave when we call will usually be one of the following two numbers: +44 (0)20 8861 8682 or +44 (0)131 301 2940.
Where did you get my telephone number from?
On some studies your contact details will have been provided by the organisation that has commissioned the research. However, on most research conducted via the telephone, telephone numbers are generated using a process known as "random digit dialling". This involves generating a phone number by randomly adding the last set of digits to known valid area codes and exchange numbers to produce a telephone number. Other than the approximate geographical location of this number based on the area code and telephone exchange, nothing else is known about the number. It may be a public telephone box, business, fax machine etc. We do this to ensure we reach a genuine cross section of the public.
My telephone number is registered with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) and / or BT Privacy service to stop cold calls so why are you calling me?
It is a legal requirement under The Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (EC Directive) Regulations 2003 for companies or organisations that are making unsolicited calls (cold calling) for sales or marketing purposes to filter those calls against the TPS lists. There are no legal or regulatory requirements to filter unsolicited calls made for research purposes against the TPS. Our call to your telephone number was NOT intended to sell, market or provide any details for any goods or services in any way. Our call would have been made to request your participation in a genuine research study. In conducting these studies we are required to ensure that the individuals who take part are fully representative of the target audience being researched. To exclude individuals with TPS registered telephone numbers could bias the results. It would also deny you the opportunity of participating in this research, the results of which may impact policies or services you use! We have found that a similar number of individuals who have TPS registered numbers take part in our studies compared to those who are not TPS registered.
Why is my opinion important?
We work for a wide range of clients including:
International, European and UK national, regional and local government bodies: Who use the research to gain accurate and up to date information which is used for future planning and to shape future policy decisions.
Major Charities: Commission research in their areas of interest to better understand peoples views and experiences.
Universities and colleges: Conduct academic research in association with Ipsos MORI.
Private sector organisations: Use research to understand how their organisations, products or services are perceived for example.
How do I know the information I supply is safe?
Ipsos MORI does take very seriously its responsibilities for the security and confidentiality of the information supplied to us by our clients and those who take part in the research we carry out. We take every care to ensure that we comply with our legal, regulatory and ethical obligations, including The Data Protection Act 1998 and the Market Research Society Code of Conduct. Our interviewers will provide details of what the research study is about and how the information you supply will be used in that research and you are perfectly entitled not to answer any question you are not comfortable with or to change your mind and not take part at any time during the interview. You will not receive "junk" mail or unsolicited sales calls as a result of participating in this research. If you want more information on our Data Protection and/or Information Security policies, we are happy to provide copies on request. Please send your request to our Compliance & Information Security Department, Ipsos MORI, 79-81 Borough Road, London, SE1 1FY, or email compliance@ipsos-mori.com- Caller: MORI or MORIsos

- katehad this number call me several times over the weekend, as it happens i don't answer numbers i don't know, lucky i only have my mobile now, got so annoyed with landline calls at inappropriate times i leave it unplugged. i only give my mobile number out when needing to so call screening is so much easier.
- sally| 1 replyreceived a phone call today from this number they claimed to be from the department of work and pensions asking for information about our company pension scheme. do not have as sole traders. definately no reference to market research! said nothing
- Tank replies to sallyOK from what I can gather this company is an outsource company, therefore they are doing different calls for different companies.
My Gf and I both went on an NVQ course, and we both started receiving calls from this number a few weeks alter, her being her answered the call and it was a survey about the NVQ course and our employer. Since then she hasn't received a call from them, Me being me on the other hand didn't and still haven't answered and am still getting calls from them, I don't really mind, I set the number to a silent ring and it never bothers me any more.
But my point is that they do different contracts for different companies so you might ask them to remove you from their list which they will do, but then get a new contract for a new company with a new dialling list. - AH replies to Jack [***]Was it the way the 0's were looking at you or the jaunty angle of the 7 that made it obvious the number was dodgy?
- mark bishopcan this lot just STOP calling this works phone
- Call type: Telemarketer
- JollyIf I find out what I think I know about someone from there whose name I can't discuss on here then I would definitely need to speak to someone else whose name I can't mention on here about a subject I spoke with someone else regarding. Its a subject I can't mention but it's a bit hush hush but I'll speak to that unnamed person and post back although I can't go into details.
