Been called 3 times in the last week. Haven't answered any of their calls as I don't answer strange suspicious numbers. Very Annoying because it's between 7pm-9pm and I don't want to be disturbed by calls like that, at that time of day because I'm trying to relax. Annoyed very much!

Just been called by this - I never answer my landline as I don't give the number out to anyone but family and friends and we have a code for ringing.  If its not the correct code then I don't answer.   So annoying

I work for this organisation as a face to face interviewer, but I've also had a random survey call from them about the NHS, but to my disappointment I didn't fit the quota.

As far as I know there is no list with anybody's name on it, the guys on the phone call random numbers.  Occasionally these numbers will be pulled from a list of specific users of a service, if the survey is about that service, and the list is allowed to be used under data protection rules.  They have to do this to  to reach a genuine cross section of the population, and if there is no answer they have to call back till they get someone otherwise the people they do talk to wouldn't include for example shift workers.

As a company with a brand to protect, it is in their interest  to employ people to be polite, but as a business it is in their interests to keep pay costs down.  Many workers resent being underpaid and having to be professionally polite to rude people that they'd not have 5 seconds for in their private life.  It can get to them and eventually (very rarely in my experience) they can be rude in return or even angry.  They are in the wrong job if that's the case, we interviewers are there to take on board whatever you have to say - if you are rude or angry then that is what you have to say.

IpsosMORI  are a large research company who work for the organisations that make your life comfortable; Businesses, Utililties,  Governments and occasionally Charities.   I am against crude commercialism and I cant stand sales calls myself but I do realise that many of these large organisations are extremely important to me, and that they have to know my needs in order to be able to supply them.

There's a big difference between research and sales, but there are a lot of scammers who use research as a trojan horse to get you drawn into something.  IpsosMORI are genuine researchers, if you get the chance to talk to them, take it, because that is your only real chance to influence the powers who run your life.  You can contact these people as an individual but they'll not normally listen very hard - they know you are just one person, while the data they buy from the polling companies is going to be reliable within a known range, so it gets taken very seriously.

I really do recommend that if you are upset by being asked what you think by the organisations that run your life for you, you switch off the phone, electricity and water for a while. Apart from being left in peace you'll soon realise what the really important things in life really are and maybe not be so uptight about what is in fact a very minor price for living comfortably in an advanced technical society.

We all get the  same crap calls as everyone else - the call from India saying there are problems with my Windows computer, the "offers" of overpriced insurance and so on - and its just as hard work for me to sort out the genuine from the phoney as it is for everyone else.  But if I don't make the effort  I'm going to become frightened and confused, or more than I am already.  Time for bed now, Goodnight!  ;-)

Alan, your opinions of people's complaints are completely invalidated by the fact you work for them.
Berating people for having these opinions qualifies you as a massive arselick.
Pull your head from your [***] and ask the important question, how can this apparent genuine working for the good of man company, improve on its abysmal research and contact methods.?
How is repeatedly calling a person because they didn't pick up, a acceptable practise?
Not that you can answer that being just a lowly interviewer, who appears to enjoy his work a little too much.

Now to attempt to get back to sleep, as I'm working through the night...For the real  good of all the people in this country, not the pretend good Alan is trying to sell us...
None of us are frightened or confused, just irritated by the company you work for, bugging the hell out of us at completely inconvenient times, and slightly gob smacked by your pedantic attitude toward the public.
Why don't you give us your full name and contact details at work and I'll raise these thoughts with your seniors?
Wake up Alan you're not changing the world!

Phoned 3 times on Sunday - missed the first one and they phoned twice within 5 minutes while we were having family lunch (so we didn't want to answer the phone). 2 calls in five minutes on a Sunday would suggest someone needing to contact us urgently, as it is for marketing 3 calls in a day is well into the harassment territory and reflects very badly on a company that does do good work - you'd think they'd sort this out as hassling people and making them remove themselves from their lists is both a PR disaster and if enough people take themselves off their lists then it'll start invalidating their data, not good business either way.

Following advice on here I went to:

    http://www.ipsos-mori.com/contactus/approachedbyus/telephone.aspx

    And emailed them on:

    telephone@ipsos-mori.com

They got back promptly saying they could find no evidence of any contacts and requesting further information, then before I could reply they sent another email saying they had found the details and were adding me to their no call list. Seems to have worked as there hasn't been another call since.

Mori are allowed to ignore TPS because they are doing surveys not marketing, luckily they are also a large responsible company and seem to move quickly to add people to their "do not call" list, so I'd recommend everyone does that and it might also send them a message that they doing it wrong.

Wow. It's people like you that genuinely make me worry about the future of this country. Have you actually looked into Mori and some of the work those "arselicks" have done? I have done several Mori polls, and would happily do many more after looking at their website and having actually listened to the poor interviewers who have to sit there and deal with arrogant and rude people like yourself! They don't just ask these questions for the good of their health. These questions they ask are being asked for a specific purpose. I have also taken the time to look at the Market Research Society website. Mori can BY LAW call ANY NUMBER between 9am-9pm. Any number. Regardless of TPS or Ex-Directory.

As for the interviewers. The majority of them, from what I can gather, are students paying their way through university or college. Most of the rest, I would imagine would probably be on state benefits were it not for Mori. I would much rather the residents of Edinburgh (where the main Mori call centre is) had a job and paid tax than were unemployed on benefits in one of the most expensive cities in the UK. Wouldn't you?

So, what would you prefer? Taking a minute out of your time to say "Please add me to your do not contact list as I do not wish take part in any survey ever" and lose the right to ever moan about a significant change that you were 'never asked about', or take the time to do the survey and have the chance to voice your opinions? I know which option I would choose.

Might I suggest you do your research before mouthing off about something you clearly have no idea about. And to everyone else, please try and remember that there is a human being on the end of the line. Their job is difficult enough without you swearing at them down the phone when they are just doing their jobs! How would you like it?

Got called today at 8.20pm! No idea who they are; but a commercial call at this time of the evening is just outright rude and intrusive.

These muppets can now be reported on-line to the Information Commisioners Office via their website at

    http://www.ico.gov.uk/for_the_public/topic_specific_guides/marketing.aspx

Hopefully if enough complaints are received, then they might be stopped.

Please report them - it only takes a couple of minutes.

    Thanks

Sorry, but Market Research calls are outside the remit of the ICO and TPS.  In the case of the calls on here the way to stop them is to go to the IPSOS/Mori website, use the contact us facility and tell them to remove your number.  I have done this with all the reputable Market Research companies, Mori, Kantar etc., and it does work.  These calls are a complete nuisance but are not a scam. unlike the overseas "survey" calls asking what sort of washing machine you have, or who your utility suppliers are.  These calls are fake surveys, collecting information to sell on to other cold callers.
