YOUR NOT ANSWERING THEIR CALLS YET IF YOU SPOKE TO SOMEONE AND ASKED IF THEY WOULD PUT YOU ON THE 'DO NOT RE-CONTACT DATABASE' THEN THEY WOULD BE HAPPY TO. YOUR 100% SURE NOT TO BE CALLED AGAIN IF YOU ASK TO BE ON THIS AND YOU WILL SPEAK TO A SUPERVISOR.

If you ignore the phone or make excuses eg. i'm just going out now, they WILL call back.
If you say i'm not interested they WILL NOT contact you again for that particular survey, but there is a chance you could be contacted for another survey.

The numbers are randomly generated; they take an area code and randomly pick the next numbers on the computer, this is why it can be a mistake if we call a business or house number, depending on the survey.

TPS AND EX DIRECTORY; although you are registered with this, you are still valid to get calls from MARKET RESEARCH companies like Ipsos Mori, as we are not trying to sell anything, just to get views and opinions. THIS IS CORRECT; you can contact TPS and ask about this as they will tell you the same. But if you have a problem with this, again just ask to not be contacted again and if you can speak to a supervisor.

As i'm an Ipsos Mori worker i just thought i would clear a few points up, and at the end of the day it's not the persons fault for working there, just ask politely not to be contacted again, don't take it out on their employees, it's just their job.

I wrote the comment before and just to make it clear, I'm an 18 year old girl studying at university, it is my part time job.
Also the call centre is open 9am-9pm weekdays,
    and 10am-7pm weekends.

After nearly 20 calls to my mobile on the last few Sundays and evenings, they have managed to get hold of my WORK phone number.  I answered, and they said they had been given my numbers by the City of London POLICE who wanted my feedback on how they had handled a recent incident.

WHAT RIGHT do the police have to give our private numbers out like this??

I told him to take my number off his list but he wasn't very happy about it.

Where and how do I complain about this??

To all the ill-informed indignant whingers who have decided to vent their mis-directed anger after being called to give their opinion on a topic:

What is so difficult about answering the phone and letting the caller know that you never wish to be called again?

If you think you're being clever by hanging up without speaking, or telling porkies about being busy to get off the phone, they will do what any other reasonable caller would do: CALL YOU BACK ANOTHER TIME!

There are comments on here like "they woke my daughter at 8pm!!" or "they keep ringing all week but I have a baby!!!".
If you really don't want your phone to ring... UNPLUG IT, YOU IMBECILES! It'd ring just the same if it was your mother calling to say she'd fallen down the stairs, so it's a hazard of having a phone; SOMETIMES IT WILL RING.

To all the lazy cretins that seem able to log on to here to cry "I'm on the TPS you know, but they still call!", yet can't even use Google:
http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/faq/#seventeen - just read the final answer on the page and then quit your ill-informed whining.

I expect that you are all the same bunch of Daily Fail readers that moan about how the council has changed your bin collection dates or other such trivia - guess what? Your council probably conducted research just like this to gauge public opinion on the matter but you were too ignorant to take part.

To all the [***] that are asking the question "but how did they get my number?" on THIS site:
Guess what, numbnuts? If you ask Ipsos MORI when they call, they WILL tell you. Mental, eh? So now you know.

And finally, to all the remaining lazy fools who will insist on complaining yet take no action:
All you need to do is tell the caller you do not want to take part/never want to be called again ever; they aren't psychic. Alternatively you can email telephone@ipsos-mori.com. This isn't insider info - it's on THEIR OWN WEBSITE.

Now go and direct your anger at something meaningful. That is all.

Its simple, just politely refuse. Also say something like please ensure that your company doesnt call me again - to recontact you after youve told them not to is a breach of their licence.
You might conclude by saying, I have no interest in government or local government policy or their spending priorities. I also dont care about opinion polls or political opinion research of any kind. I only wish to speak to people who I'm related to or that I meet for social or business reasons.
I am entirely selfish and reserve my right to be silent on these matters, except when it seems appropriate to complain to my MP or to the Daily Mail, or on a website like this. We need a number to phone them and complain about that too. Perhaps then theyd see sense and go away.

I'm not answering to this lot at the moment as I've got work to do.  But when I do, I'll be only too happy to answer their questions, provided that they are happy to answer some of mine.  I think that's only fair.  Ideas for questions would be welcome.

Received a call this evening after 8pm when my children were in bed. Luckily the phone was unplugged and didn't disturb them (got number via 1471).

My husband is a shift worker and I have to unplug the phone now if he is night duty otherwise they disturb him. This has caused problems when I have needed to get hold of him in an emergency.

These people are a pain and they shouldn't be allowed to get away with it!
