21 pages of messages and totally confused here!
Having met a representative of Express Law, who was polite,informative & professional, I now find according to this site that they are linked with Minster, National & Saga who have all reportedly closed down having supposedly defrauded individuals according to certain posts!
I am solely interested in Express law and any opinions individuals may have given I intend to follow up on advice given.....can someone unravel this 'messed up' forum and simply states facts about this firm so the public might make an informed decision.

Apologies for our last post, it was incomplete, here is our reply in full:  

'Dianne' Thankyou for your comments. Ourselves being concerned from page 1, many informative additions have been removed at the request of the aforementioned companies, therefore we appreciate that the forum may appear jumbled up.

However, all the Directors of Express Law have been associated as Directors with previous Will Writing firms that acted unprofessionally, unethically and inappropriately in defrauding the public.

Our advice is to steer well clear of any Will Writing firm as they are not regulated, especially those who cold call and take money up front for their services. Go to a reputable Solicitor as it will be cheaper in the long run and you know you have received what you have paid for.

1) Intrigued by your reply in that you state 'here is our reply' ! Are members of the public to assume you represent a legal firm?
2) It is noted that you have stated the Directors of Express Law were directors of previous will writing firms that acted in defrauding the public. This being the case were criminal charges brought against them? Failing this did Trading Standards or the Office of Fair Trading take action against them?

N.B. Having reread previous posts by yourself you also 'name and shame' employees of the previous firms - were these individuals responsible for defrauding the public or are they simply members of the public seeking employment in order to better their lives?

Your response is keenly awaited given I now have further concerns which will be raised upon your reply!

Given all the information that this thread has provided to the public, by disgruntled clients, other members of the public, ex employees and by ourselves we would assume that it is fair warning to anyone. Our advice is as always,  If you or any other member of the public wish to employ any of the aforementioned companies or their representatives do so at your peril.

No one suggests that people should not better their lives, we are all for people earning an honest days pay, providing its not at the expense of others losing their live savings.

You cannot give out further information? As a member of the public your response is simply infuriating given you clearly have stirred up a 'hornets nest' yet are unprepared to back up any allegations made with facts!

I have contacted Trading Standards and the Office of Fair Trading who assure me they have no concerns re:Express Law yet you have blatantly slandered this company in a public domain together with innocent employees. It is evident now you are carrying out a solitary campaign to create havoc on this forum for whatever personal gain and your posts are totally unreliable and fallacious given I have now concluded my research into this company and individuals you have 'named and shamed' and there are no criminal convictions not have Trading Standards/Office of Fair trading taken any action as you insinuate.

In essence it is clear you are carrying out a vendetta and whilst not backing Express Law nor previous mentioned companies I sincerely hope action is taken against you for slander as the public has a right for honest ethical forums unlike this one which you seek to run in a totally unprofessional, unethical and dishonest manner!

Personally I have no intention of posting again as it is pointless in serving the community and your comment of 'people losing their life savings is laughable' when I was quoted £95 (inc.VAT) for taking instructions on a will..............I think you need psychiatric help 'K W' as your views are deluded and totally biased - perhaps you were associated with the previous firms yourself and dismissed for unethical practice, clearly something is amiss on this forum apart from your intelligence level.

You asked for advice saying the representative from Express Law were polite,informative and professional,well the representative from Minster Legal was the same with us regarding my father.(Would you deal with anyone who did not seem to know what they were talking about?) Once they got our money and thousands of other people's money upfront then the scam started.no replies to emails and phone calls.They have been reported to the Police,Trading Standards,Fraud office and Legal Ombudsman.Read page 18 with someones comments about Express Law.
Martin Smith,Andrew Young and Jonty Trotter were running Minster Legal and are now running Express Law.
Would you be on the defensive if your father had been ripped off by these people?
Express Law claim they are a long standing Law Firm but they have only been in existance since last year and they are not a Law firm but a Will writing company.
My advice to you is do not use anyone who asks for money upfront as you cannot be sure if you will or will not receive the work you have paid for.

At last someone speaking honestly with the bitter voice of experience.
We had exactly the same experience as you with Minster Legal Services.  Their representative was a charming and well informed lady.  We paid out over £1,500 for PPT wills and LPAs.  They eventually arrived many months later after a lot of hassle but are not worth the paper they are written on.  We had them checked by a Law Advice Centre and they advised us not to sign anything as they left remaining partners vulnerable with no provision made and had other very serious errors.  Trading Standards both locally and in Lincolnshire are working on these issues and the Legal Ombudsman is currently looking into it as well.
At the end of the day all the people sniping at each other on this forum does not help the people like us who have been scammed.  We were advised to contact Express Law about the substandard work Minster Legal Services did for us and when we did they just said they weren't responsible and were unconnected to Minster Legal Services.
We we, like many others, are left a lot of money down and with no legal wills or LPAs.

‘Dianne’ Thankyou for your comment. We don’t understand why our response infuriates you as our advice has been accepted kindly by many readers. You state that you have contacted the Trading Standards and the Office of Fair Trading, however, there are other Authorities involved. Our concern is the public have a right to know about the people behind the aforementioned companies.

We don’t understand if you are just someone looking for advice, your point that (in your words) we have ‘clearly stirred up a hornets nest’. It is only unfavourable to the aforementioned.

Could you please stipulate where on this forum have we insinuated that the Trading Standards and the Office of Fair Trading have ‘taken action‘? We have simply warned the public that the aforementioned are being investigated by the Local Authorities.

We won’t dignify your response regarding our integrity, intentions or honesty with a reply.

We question why you wouldn’t want to reply if you are merely defending the public as this is an open forum intended to protect the community. And we will continue with our campaign regardless if we require psychiatric help or not. We have also stipulated many times we have no other interests nor connections to the aforementioned other than the protection of the Elderly and Vulnerable.

We apologise that we cannot be of further assistance to you.

‘DJ’ Thankyou for your comments. You are correct that they are no Law Firm but just a Will Writing Company. Will Writing is not regulated and your average Joe Bloggs could start up a Will Writing Firm with no qualifications or experience within the field. As long as they can say that your work is ‘in progress’ they can get away with taking any amount of money from you and produce minimal legal documentation eg. a basic will with many errors.

European Mediation Services Limited and Probate Solutions Worldwide Wills and Trusts Limited both wound up in the public interest

European Mediation Services Limited (“European”), based in Kidderminster, and Probate Solutions Worldwide Wills and Trusts Limited (“Probate”), which traded from premises in Lincoln, were both wound up in the High Court last week following an investigation by The Insolvency Service. Both companies were in common ownership.

‘European’ was a claims management business created to pursue claims under the Consumer Credit Act 1974 on behalf of individuals who had been mis-sold timeshares or property in Spain; although its business subsequently expanded to include other forms of recovery under the Act. In return, ‘European’ received either a fixed advance fee or a success-based commission.

Even though the company director of ‘European’s’ failed to co-operate fully with the Company Investigations team or deliver up all of its trading records, it was established that ‘European’ had:-

failed to account for monies recovered on behalf of its clients;
failed to keep adequate trading records, making it impossible to fully account for the receipt and payment of almost £½ million; and
failed to declare insolvency.
Furthermore, during the course of the investigation, the director caused ‘European’ to cease trading without taking any steps to regulate its affairs.

Probate Solutions Worldwide Wills and Trusts Limited, known as ‘Probate’ was the second company wound up. ‘Probate’ was marketed a franchise-style opportunity inviting individuals to learn how to take legal instructions from members of the public for the preparation of a range of legal products including wills and power of attorney.

The investigation found that ‘Probate’s’ business model was very similar to that of other companies previously investigated and wound up in the public interest in 2007 and 2008. Also that ‘Probate’ had adopted many of the practices the court had previously found objectionable. In particular, that misleading and inaccurate statements were made to prospective franchisees during the recruitment process, particularly in relation to potential earnings.

The Insolvency Service investigation found that ‘Probate’ failed:-

to keep accurate accounting records and as a result cash receipts and payments could not be accounted for;
failed to prepare accounts as required to by law; and
that it was abandoned by the director during the course of the investigation.
