Robin H Thankyou for your comments. Did Matthew call you back? We assume that he didn't tell you that they gained your details out of the Telephone Directory. They do not pay for the data they use, hense why people that are on the Telehone Preference Service (TPS) still receive unsolicited calls.

Layla Thankyou for your comments. When people catch on to what they are doing, they move on and target new areas, even to the extent of setting up new firms under different names when they do get closed down. So we need the word to be spread more widely.
We also need more people that have had work done by IPS to go and get it checked with a Solicitor to make sure they have received what they have paid for, if not, they then need to report it to Trading Standards and their local Police. The more people that come forward, the more evidence there is and bigger the case against them.

I'm in Kent, and I just got a call from someone claiming to be calling from "IPS Legal Services". She asked me if I'd heard of some community care law or something, and was I interested in Asset Protection.
Me: “And what kind of a firm is that?”
Her: *Stunned silence* “We’re a private legal firm specialising in asset protection.“
Me: “And what is “asset protection?”
Her: *Another stunned silence* “Um, well, what it says really...”
Me: “Look, asset protection could be insurance, or it could be wrapping things up in foam and newspaper so they don’t get broken; it could be risk amelioration in portfolio management. Which is it?”
Her: “It’s Insurance.”
Me: “So why didn’t you say that in the first place?”
Her: *Silence*
Me: “No, answer the question - why didn’t you say in the first place that it’s insurance?”
Her: “Well, I’ve never had to explain it before. It’s obvious, everyone else knows.”
Me: “Terrific, so I’m more stupid than everyone else you’ve ever spoken to. Fantastic. So, what are you trying to sell me? [Meaning of course, what exactly are you trying to get me to insure?]
Her: *Stunned silence, then a giggle* “Um, handbags, t-shirts?”
Me: “Are you taking the piss, madam?
Her: “What?!?”
Me: “How much more of my time are you going to waste?”
Her: *Giggling* “Why, don’t you want to buy a handbag?” *Giggling*
Me: “Right, tell me your name.”
Her: *She puts the phone down*
I can’t help but feel they won’t get too far if they’re reduced to using inexperienced giggly teenagers to make their cold calls.

KW - flake replies to ADRob Holly has now taken over a comany in York called Minster Legal Assiciates, still taking poeples money and not providing what they have paid for!
- Brighter than you replies to gen1985Jeez, you're the Office Supervisor? The standard of your spelling and grammar is appalling and doesn't give the impression of a decent company at all. As for your remark about people not accepting your services if they don't want them, you conveniently ignore the fact that older or vulnerable folk are sometimes put under pressure - and in fear - by people trying to sell products.
I think you'll find reputations are subjective, based on individual opinion, so without quoting specifics would not be libellous. You suggested it was slanderous here but if you knew what you were talking about you'd know that meant 'spoken' and you're referring to what's been typed.
I rest my case. - K W| 2 repliesTo all Readers, the below comment about Express Law Ltd based in Doncaster is from: https://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/08454753555/4

Anon Thankyou for your comments. No-one said that you were selling anything on the phone, just scaremongering potential clients and when they have a visit from your company, it can be a very expensive visit.
People are on the TPS for a good reason! They don't wish to receive your calls, awareness or otherwise. Isn't it true that you gain Customer's information from Telephone Directories and you don't actually pay for the data as you claim?
Are your Telesales staff that empowered that they can hire and fire?

KW - K WTo all Readers, the below story is by the Nottinghamshire County Council Trading Standards: https://www.nottinghamshirealert.co.uk/da/370 ... trust_scam.html
Will writing / prosperity trust scam
Nottinghamshire Trading Standards would like to advise residents of a new scam and to remind them to stay vigilant when dealing with unexpected telephone and personal visitors.
Residents have reported being cold called by telephone by sales staff who then go on to worry pensioners into setting up an appointment with a rep about their concerns over the potential cost of future care home fees.
The trader claims that they can set up a ‘family prosperity trust’ for you in order to avoid your house being sold to cover your care needs in later life.
The sales staff convince residents to sign up by exploiting a scenario that is of great concern to pensioners and then arrange an agreement for a trust document to be drawn up to protect the resident – costing from anything between £1000 and £3500. It is believed the document may not be as watertight as marketed, thus potentially leaving the householders property still at risk to the problem the trust is supposed to guard against.
If you have recently received an unsolicited call from a trader matching this description please contact Nottinghamshire Trading Standards on 01623 452005 or email trading.standards@nottscc.gov.uk.
Trading Standards never recommend employing a trader based on a cold call. If you are suspicious of a cold caller operating in your area please contact Consumer Direct, the Government's phone and online consumer advice service on 08454 04 05 06.

KW - K WTo all Readers, the below story is from The Mail: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/money/investing/ar ... fear-death.html
Unscrupulous: The disturbing industry profiting from our fear of death
A fear of dying or going into care has spawned a growing and, as Money Mail has uncovered, disturbing industry.
Unscrupulous financial advisers are getting away with fleecing vulnerable pensioners — often for their entire life savings. Sam Dunn and James Salmon investigate.
Going into care can be a stressful time for those moving into a home. It can also be a huge strain on families, who have made the heart-wrenching decision that their parent, or elderly relative, is no longer able to look after themselves. But this also makes pensioners vulnerable to unscrupulous salespeople.
(Vulnerable pensioners: On average care home fees are £2,163 a month, leaving elderly people and their families to worry about how to pay for them)
These vultures play on their fears of selling the family home, or seeing it snatched by the council to pay for care costs, or of dying without a will, or leaving the family with huge funeral costs.
A major part of the problem is the sky-high cost of care homes and the worry families have about how this will be paid for — and whether you can get financial help from the State. On average, care home fees are £2,163 a month.
-------
CARE FEES AVOIDANCE SCAMS
Some companies prey on pensioners’ fear of losing their home when they go in to care. They claim to be able to stop the sale of a home to pay for care fees by putting it into a trust.
These unregulated firms claim this will protect the home from being sold to pay for the owner’s care fees as, since the house is in trust, it will effectively be disregarded.
However, local authorities have the power to void such schemes if they believe they were designed specifically to avoid paying the bills. Worse, this offer also tends to involve an upfront fee of more than £1,000, which the family won’t be able to get back.
There is no time limit on how far back a council can look to see if you gave away your house to avoid care costs. Part of the reason so many pensioners have been convinced to lock their money into investment bonds is because sometimes these can be exempt from means-testing.
---------
RIP-OFF WILL-WRITING SERVICES
Most people want to ensure as much of their estate as possible is passed to their loved ones when they die. But the good intentions of many are often rendered worthless because they cut corners with will-writing services.
The Legal Ombudsman says thousands of largely older people are being ripped off by firms offering unregulated will-writing. It can cost between £60 to £100 to write a will — but some OAPs can pay hundreds for a similar service if they use the wrong law firm.
Adam Sampson, chief Legal Ombudsman for England and Wales, has called for action to be taken to ensure consumers are not left vulnerable by unregulated services. Many legal services, including will-writing, can be done by unqualified — and unregulated — individuals and companies.

KW - abboj replies to K WThis is not the experience we had with Express Law, can you tell me why the Salesperson processed the paperwork before the arranged meeting with us so we could check what was being sold to my Brother. When I contacted Doncaster Trading Standards they advised me they were aware of Express Law & were not sure if Express Laws paperwork was even legal, the sevice being offered could even be classed as defrauding the Govemant of funding to care for elderly people.
Doncaster even contacted Hertfordshire & Berkshire Trading Standards office on my Brothers case.
I have nothing but praise for KW without them we would not have achieved what we did. - K W| 1 replyTo all Readers, the below comment about Express Law Ltd based in Doncaster is from: https://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/08454753555/4

No we use bought data! And it is legal to call tps if you are making a awareness call so wether you agree with it or not it is legal. We go area by area. I know for a fact we do not scare old people! If I get a oap on the phone who clearly can't understand or is a bit deaf ect I tell them to have a good day and hang up. When we go to clents houses we give free legal advice of course we are going to try and sell them our products though it's how people make a living and peole can always say no or ask them to leave. I find it very sad that you believe everything bad you hear, we have many happy customers and of course we have some unhappy customers but doesn't all businesses? And yes Christine crombie thought she was that empowered hence why she got the boot!
