For a solicitor to draw up a will they must be properly qualified and regulated by the Law Society. Yet you don’t need to be a solicitor to be a will writer and whilst there are plenty of legitimate will writing firms, sadly there are also a few rogues.

They may try to entice you in with the promise of a super cheap will and then hard sell you a load of added extras which you don’t necessarily need but feel pressured into buying. They may then take your money and fail to provide you with either your will or the added extras you’ve paid for. Another trick is to write themselves into the will so they take a percentage of the estate on death, or to make themselves the executors of the will which means they’re in charge of paying beneficiaries, something they may decide not to do.

The Citizens Advice Bureau offers some advice on choosing the right solicitor, while The Law Society is campaigning for the will writing industry to be regulated.

The judge told Di Stefano: "I recognise that you did not actively seek out those whom you defrauded. They came to you. You did not approach them but there is more than one kind of predator. Some Predators hunt down their victims, others lie in wait for them. Your victims in this case were all desperate people and people who, because of their desperation, were vulnerable."

The judge also noted that, while this case is about money, "it is also about something different and great – it is about the real distress you caused to so many people".

"You had no regard for them nor for their anguish," he said. "Your only concern was to line your own pockets."

Prestige are nothing to do with Synergy Legal or Express Law, if anything they are enemies and last I heard Mark Fisher (a representative at Syngery Legal) was in a meeting lastweek at the Prestige building to leave Synergy Legal to go to work for Prestige which leaves Synergy Legal in serious trouble as they then only have very unexperienced unqualified representatives left such as afew girls that were nothing but appointment makers on the phone afew months ago.

What experience or qualifications do you believe Mark Fisher to have?

All leaving Synergy to go and work for a bent ex copper?! Must be mad.!

There are quite a few people who intend to have a word or two with Barton if and when he resurfaces. He won't be able to hide for ever!
