- f@#kwescot replies to fionaIf you go to wescot website you can read the ALL ABOUT THEM they tell you how great they are and how they are regulated..PMSL..They do not like to be called back and like it even less when you don,t speak to them..do as they say not as they do hahaha
- Monica| 1 replyI have just had a phonecall from this number. a very weird call. they wanted me to confirm the name of my neighbours..but honestly...I just do not know them. But i find it very unacceptable..how come phoning me to ask information about my neighbours? how did they know my name?? even it is debt collector company they should not harrass people like us..just because we are the neighbours of them!!!
tried to call them back but of course they are not picking up the phone. How unprofessional.
be aware...they are scum!!!!
I have just found out they are from Hull.- Caller: Wescot trade
- Call type: Debt collector
- sarah wilsontwicw rang asking for information about new neighbours.Told them I didn't know them very well and was thanked and the call cut short
- ALISON JONESCalls about 4 times a day. Have no idea who they are or what they want. I am ex directory and have lived here a couple of months so where are they getting my info from?????
- fifimaggieThey are at it again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They asked for a lady a few doors down - I know her and am related to her!!! Surely they are comitting crimes under the data protection act as they are revealing that people have debt. Low life scumbags. How can these people sleep at night?
So I suppose we should all be careful who we answer the phone to and all say that the person they are looking for just recently emigrated and oh - such a shame you have missed them. They are now living in China.- Caller: Westcott
- Call type: Debt collector
- fifimaggie replies to MonicaI think that they are looking up the electoral roll - which I believe is for sale. Then, they go to those who have land lines and hound them.
If they phone again say that you need their names to report them to to the Police.
A pal's sister-in-law lives a few yards around the corner and they phoned her saying can you find out if "Mary" is in around the corner as we would like to talk to her. They must have even googled the street and realised that the houses are small and close together as they don't even live in the same street - they just share the same surname.
The amount of times this is happening is seriously worrying. Is anyone doing anything about it - Tigger North EastCalled by a woman asking if I knew a neighbour. Told her I knew nothing about the neighbour.
- PopeyeEvery two hour these D! heads keep calling
I registered on BT to get these scam calles barred.
Before I registered I had 5 or 6 a week
Now I get them every couple of hours ALL week.
BT will never stop them as they would lose revenue - MerlinL14Wife just took a call from them asking about neighbours 'up the road', the scumbag who spoke to my wife said his name was Andy and he was a long lost friend who had lost the neighbours mobile number and did she know if this lad still lived there. He got told to [***] as we have caller ID and I googled the number as she was speaking to him!

- JohnThis number is still active, had a call re needing to contact a neighbour. A quick google found this site. So they wont be getting a call back from us.
Reading else where and from my own experience I think this is a data phishing scam call.
NOTE TO SYS OP, you need scam and phishing added to the drop down box as most of the nuisance calls I get do not fit your categories. - BimpThese people have been calling me and my neighbours for weeks. Daily, hourly in some cases. I rang them last week and requested that they stopped harassing me and my neighbours. The said they were very sorry and would stop as we know nothing about the person they are asking about.
Now today they call again but lied saying they were calling from 'L3' a tracing company.- Caller: WESCOT
- Call type: Debt collector
- MairaWhat Westcot are doing is against the law, they are NOT ALLOWED to contact neighbours when looking for people that have debts.
These people are nothing but scum. If this number comes up just answer and then quickly hang up.
For those who have asked for the calls to stop - They won't stop sadly unless you make a formal complaint to the OFT.- Caller: Westcot
- Call type: Debt collector
- FerdieHad daily calls from these people identifying themselves as '2F', making enquiries about a neighbour. The man I spoke to refused to give a phone number, stupidly, since 1471 revealed he was calling from Westcot.
What a disgusting way to do business. FSO needs to take action.- Caller: 2F aka Westcot Credit Services
- Call type: Debt collector
- Choose to refuse| 1 replyWhat this company is not only against the code of conduct for collection agencies but also illegal. They are using subterfuge to confirm that YOUR number is active & YOUR address is correct.
Westcot have already been told not to do this.
From the OFT:
'Using neighbours to pass on messages to trace subjects is an unacceptable practice that contravenes our debt collection guidance. It has the potential, whether unintentional or not, to lead to the disclosure of private financial affairs and to cause distress and embarrassment, and we have made this clear in discussions with the Credit Services Association.
'We are pleased that Link has acted responsibly and taken positive steps to change its policies and procedures.
'If other businesses continue to engage in similar practices we will not hesitate to use our licensing and enforcement powers.'
Yet they continue to do this.

- SteveNow had these people call twice in 2 days on my home phone - I now tend to pick up the phone and say nothing as I get a lot of junk / auto-dial calls during the day and anybody who I actully want to speak to calls me on my mobile, so I just let them rack up their phone bill
