- Bob| 1 replyTPS are rubbish.
They will only do something if you are called by a person and not by a computer.
By pressing a button, you are in effect calling them, so complaining to TPS is even less likely to work.
I repeat TPS are rubbish.

- Bill Patten replies to FactsI have read that Identity Protect Limited t/a Identity Protection Service, PO Box 795, Godalming, Surrey. GU7 9GA is a scam operation that registers lots of the scam artists' sites who wish to conceal their true identity from us and the cursory glance of the under-resourced trading standards officer.
Some of these data criminals are complained about on whocallsme. Identity Protect Limited run their own servers with Webfusion, and are linked to crime networks in Germany, London, Manchester , Liverpool and the Midlands.
You will see lots of postings on here telling you NOT complain to the ICO & TPS because they are "useless". Ignore them. Two of the syndicate were recently fined £440,000 by the ICO because of our complaints and this cost the crime syndicate introducer fees.
https://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/01614750375
The frequent "not worth reporting" posts are made by the syndicate to discourage us from contacting the ICO. TPS pass the complaints on to the ICO, so are equally slated.
Report EACH non-compliant call to the ICO. They require evidence to act.

Likewise, report each and every scam attempt to Action Fraud. Attempted fraud is still a crime.

Magrathea Telecomms are another scam operation with Columbian connections and work with Identity Protect Limited and Webfusion
If you see any of the above names or addresses in a whois do NOT deal with the company or website.
Likewise, if Magrathea Telecomms is the callers' telecom provider, avoid them.
At best you will be supporting crime and at worst you will end up being defrauded.
Google the names above and the word scam if you are in any doubt.

See 12/03/13 above - very helpful. - ClaireAutomated message claiming new Government legislation would mean that they could write off 70% of a person's debt. Said we'd opted in to receiving communications from them, but hadn't! Pressed 9 to remove number from their list - let's see if it works? Why do we receive calls like this when registered with the TPS?
- Caller: Not known
- margibrang me on 16 March but no one there to speak. I'm on TPS. TPS caught this number. Time wasting and anxiety provoking.
- TomGot another call from this number today at 3pm.ish.
I was out but they didn't leave a message. - Capvermell replies to Tim Fowler Director TPF Law Ltd| 4 repliesTo further update this I have now had a call back (on 26th March) from solicitor and proprietor of TPF Law and www.ppiclaimspeople.com, Tim Fowler. This followed on from a call I received from one of his staff members at TPF Law (or PPI Claims People who they also trade as) a day ago (on 25th March) wanting to know why I hadn't set back the completed PPI claims back I had been sent after the previous unsolicited call.
When I suggested this was because I wasn't interested and that furthermore their firm should not have been trying to do business with a TPS registered address phone number but I now had all the information I needed to complain about them to the ICO or the Solicitors Regulation Authority the lady wrongly suggested that a TPS opt out was only on a firm by firm basis and not universal and also only lasted for a year or two. Naturally I became rather angry about this untrue information about the TPS and ended up hanging up the phone on her after giving her a few choice words about providing such inaccurate information.
Rather than, as some solicitors might, then rushing to immediate threats of libel actions etc if anyone dared say anything negative or critical about his firm Mr Fowler took an extremely constructive and conciliatory approach and claimed TPF Law would never knowingly attempt to achieve new business introductions from a lead sourcing company that was not complying with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations and a phone subscriber's registration with the TPS. He indicated that his firm's relationship was actually with the second call centre I had been handed over to by the first call centre using the automated announcement on the 0151 number and that the second call centre had never admitted to having any dealings with a firm making calls in such a way or especially to TPS registered numbers.
He then went on to provide the helpful information that he had investigated how my data had been sourced and that it had come from a data vendor called www.media-tactics.co.uk I found this very interesting and useful news as another caller some days ago, who were quite separate from TPF Law, but who I think were also introduced by an automated call from a call centre also using an automated announcement (that you might be entitled to compensation and to press 5 if interested and 9 if not) also said my data had come from Media Tactics and that they had been assured the data was TPS screened. So it appears that Media Tactics could be supplying contact data which they indicate is TPS screened but that in fact isn't.
Although the legal liability for making calls to non TPS registered homes actually lies with the caller (although who the caller is may be rather muddied here by the fact the original call bureau passes the call on twice and tries to evade the TPS's complaints procedure by using an automated call) in my opinion the Information Commissioner should be trying to find a way to clamp down on database vendors who may be selling data to clients that they represent as being fully screened against the TPS database but that in fact is not.
Of course it could be that the data from www.media-tactics.co.uk is actually fully TPS screened and has a data field flag that clearly show its TPS registered status for those records but that the call centres who the data is then being sold on to are incapable of using such flags properly. But because of that risk this does rather beg the question why Media Tactics doesn't only sell lists for these companies to call that have all the TPS registered addresses stripped at source before they are every put anywhere near an outgong call centre operation.
One would hope that at least the ICO might be able to persuade such data vending businesses such as Media Tactics that not supplying data at all for TPS registered numbers to customers who they know are actually large scale cold calling operations might in future be a more sensible way to conduct their business and that might also better protect the privacy of all TPS registered homes. - Mrs Hilter replies to MarkData blaggers... after our data. Just hang up or even better, don't pick up. Criminals and tracing agents etc. don't want us to contact the ICO. The more scam and spam calls and texts reported to the ICO, the sooner a number holder is investigated and fined if they are using our data without our consent or try to blag from the thick who engage with these scammers.
