I think the police are missing the point here. Scams like this have to make money somehow. One easy way of doing so is to phone people until they're so frustrated they phone you to complain and have their number removed from your lists. No doubt the phone line you mention is premium rate.

i can assure you it is not a premium rate number and if your that sad to have little discussions with each other then dont bloody answer surveys or dont tick the box that allows us to have your information.. and your not royality you know by having "TPS"  soz....

Scams have to make money somehow. Either they're doing a sponsored phone around or they're making money off the calls.

The majority of people here haven't ticked any boxes. My number is only a few weeks old and I haven't filled out any forms asking for my telephone number yet! I am with the TPS and this does grant me a right to not be called.

Anyone noticed the fact that these scammers are on here answering us and assuring us that these aren't premium rate lines and encouraging us to call... they're so very eager for us to call...

it comes to something when you have to resort to scouring the net to find out who keeps calling us only to have the phone disconnected on us,At first i was intrigued now im angry,im just gonna hang up on them see how they like it.

Finially managed to catch the caller from 0160645839, before the operators where rude and unhelpful when you ask who they are this time I spoke with a much friendler person.

Cheshire - their REAL number is 01606 336 400 they can be called back and then have your numbers removed from their database.

managed to get an automated voicemail upon calling and a number to remove mine form their list:

phoned about four times now caller has hung up when i have answered

actually the company makes money off life insurance policys which people take out ....

I think they may have stopped calling us finally, over 48 hours after I called 01606 336400 and asked to be removed from the list, so try calling that number. At least you should have the satisfaction of it being answered by someone you can shout at!
They also have a website, the name of the company is actually Xpress Direct, so you can try email too.
Nobody in authority seems to be very interetsd in taking any action against them unfortunately.

I am registered with the TPS.  I've complained to them and they've said that the calls should stop within 28 days.  I'm still being called every day at the moment (just silent when I pick it up). Let's see what happens after 28 days.  Even so, do the TPS not have powers to shut these people down considering they are unlawfully using our data and basically harassing us?  You only have to harass someone twice for it to consititute harrassment, so why aren't the police interested?

Further to my last post - I've just spoken to a very nice gentleman at the company concerned on 01606-336400. If you call this number they will put you on their do not call list, and will also tell you where they got your number from.  In my case, my housemate had given the number out to a company called Acxiom on 0208-2135749.

I spoke too soon! They called while I was out. Cheshire Police said the Information Commissioner's Office would be able to help, so I just phoned them.
Apparently if you have asked Xpress Direct to take you off the list and they are still calling they are breaking the law, and the ICO will send you a form to fill in. They are definitely going to take it seriously.
The more of us do this the better! You can call the ICO on 0845 630 6060.

i work for amanico and i can see why u all get pised of with loads of calls but u hav all answerd surveys at sumtym and put ur number on them so being on the tps wnt stop them having ur number the company is perfectly legit. the reason u cant get threw to the numbers tht ur rang by is because those fones are busy most of the day because ther operated by an atomated dialing system if u wnt ur number removed u need to ring 01606 336400 or complete the form on website http://www.amanico.uk.com/default.aspx the company has now changed its name to express direct so its not amanico anymor but the website stil ses amanico. and they sell insurance on behalf of friends provident wich is a wel known insurance company. basicly all u [***] complaining about being called shouldnt of answerd surveys in the first place its comon noledge if u clik stuf on the internet and enter ur number ur gna get called. and sueps u dnt no wt ur talking about express direct is authorised and regulated by the FSA the financial services authority and are doing nothing rong by calling u as by answering these surveys u have all given ur consent to be rang so ur all dum fuks and shud read things mor carefully befor enter ur details.

Nobody has the right to make 2 or 3 silent calls a day to anyone, whether they filled in a survey or not.
These automatic diallers are supposed to be limited to 3% of calls being unanswered; of all the calls I have had they only managed about 3% having someone on the other end when we picked up.
AND, you ignorant little git, it is still against the law to keep calling someone when they have asked you to stop.

This number has been calling me every day for a week now. I haven't bothered answering it as I'm wary of hoax callers, etc. Just thought I'd put my name on this list.

the person who works for this company doesn,t realise one tiny bit that when you pick up the phone to these idiots there rude on the phone my wife was so upset by there call i found this web site and realised were not alone how this company sell insurance to people il never know and also there a sub contractor for a big firm lets see if the big firm in question knows of what this company is like and how rude there employees are and i also tried ringing this company back to get a dead tone for letting it ring for 5 minutes rude ba*****ds
