If you are looking to apply to Primus UK Ltd I deeply advise reading this, albeit long, but defintely beneficial experience of their 'employment'.

I am a new job seeker, young, ambitious, ready to work yet obviously still very, very niave. I recently sent my CV off to a legitimate online job agency, jobsite.co.uk, and was presented with a job advertisement with Primus UK Ltd. Less than 24 hours after sending off my CV I was contacted by email and phone call and asked to a 'preliminary informal interview' as "After carefully reviewing your past experiences and skills our HR team have asked me to contact you". I would be needed to dress smartly and bring along another hard copy of my CV. I was asked If I could make it as early as the following day as a high rate of development within the company meant employment was needed quickly. After a quick look at their website, which was still under construction, I was very briefly dubious to the authenticity however dismissed this notion quickly and assumed myself being silly under the notion that it was from a well renowned agency website and  what am I to know, its a company offering you an interview!!!!
I made sure I looked smart and made my way to Primus UK's Offices situated 20 Dickinson House on Dickinson Street for my 2:15 interview. Now as a pose to other posts and warnings of this company having shabby offices these are obviously newly moved in to and actually looked fairly nice. I walked into the building and was given my red clipboard and brief form to fill out and asked to wait in the waiting room with a number of chairs around the room and a fish tank in the corner. It was clear there had already been a lot of applicants earlier that day, many in there already and still more coming in but once again I merely considered this a healthy interest in a potentially great oppurtunity. It also became apparent that interviews were also being held for other companies under names such as Bradford but with very similar forms that were to be filled out. After waiting for nearly an hour i was asked to my informal interview along with another interviewee (it was done in pairs, once again another hint cleverly masked by the fact the interview was described 'informal'). We were asked to give a brief outline of our past experiences displayed on our CV and were given a very vague description of the company, its history and what the role applying for entailed. This was described to us as a progressive training scheme with the aim for a position in management over a small team of people inside of the company. An oppurtunity to ask questions and gain a truer insight to what was really going on here was passed by due to my own nerves at the interview as well as a sound enough appearance of the 'manager' infront of me. This 'preliminary interview' lasted all of 10 -15 minutes and we were told after this we would be contacted as soon as 6pm that evening with the news to whether we were to be accepted to a more 'formal' second interview.
I went home glad of the experience as this was one of my first proper job interviews and although I was doubtful I would be succesfull thought it must still be beneficial. Surprise to me then by 6:01pm I got a phone call telling me I was succesfull and made it to the second stage and what would be called an 'observation day' no sooner than the day after!!!! I was over the moon and went straight out to by a new suit as we were required to dress 'very smart' and also bring a pad of paper and a pen. The next day I prepared myself for my 12-8 pm ,day long , second interview and after meeting up again with my trusty red clipboard and filling another brief form I was presented my mentor for the day. This generally worked out as someone of the opposite sex, for example a male interviewee was coupled with a female mentor or the other way round. Im not sure whether this was coincidence, me just being mistaken or some odd trick however I do remember being aware this was the general set-up. I was under the impression we would follow these established employees through various meetings with business clients etc however was briskly led off to a bus station and taken to Middleton where i soon found myself taking part in none other than door-to-door sales for the British Red Cross ('one of our major clients'). I distinctly remember being told this experience today was not to be seen as what would generally be done once employed and was also ensured of this by my mentor throughout the day however her knowledge of the sales pitch was incredibly well rehearsed and clearly had been used for a serious amount of time. I assumed that this was just an experience of a very small part of the business and we would move on quickly however this continued for 8 hours while being asked a series of questions on direct/indirect marketing, what makes a good manager, the law of averages and how to make a presentation. A half hour lunch break at 4:30 was all to break this up and I suppose I was just lucky it didn't start to rain. At points in the day I was even questioning how moral this was due to the almost forceful nature in which my 'mentor' succeeded in gaining direct debit donations to be payed monthly to the Red Cross and nearly all from elderly or vulnerable people. I could also not help noticing the financial state the area were were operating in didn't seem apropriate but more lent to the ever increasing sense that this business was operating on some extortionate levels, however once again thought this a part of the business that would not make a regular occurance and due to this I was still striving to make a good impression and after being told I was lucky enough to be given a good review to the manager made our way back to the office. Whilst there yet another liaison with my now well acquainted red clipboard and a summary review of what we had learnt today was to be filled out. It was here that I was then notified that only one position for the job remained and conveniently my mentor over heard i was to be regarded among two other applicants with much more experience than me however anything I could tell her that would give me a chance of beating them would give her the oppurtunity to fight my case to her manager. Lo' and behold after much persuasion on my behalf during my final interview with the manager I was offered the job on the premise I showed great 'character' and my mentor provided an outstanding reference. I was ecstatic. told i would start as soon as possible and told congratulations again.

It was 11:30pm by the time I left to return home to come back in again 10am to sort out various admin the following morning and it wasn't until on the train home I silently reviewed what happened that day. I had a strange feeling that todays experience would make up the majority of the work to be done while hired and at no point was a contract mentioned or detailed. I couldn't get over a feeling that this was to good to be true, a job offer, promise of a very decent pay and serious oppurtunity to progress in a management role however I was not described how any of this was to be achieved and had only my horrible experience going from door to door to base this on. It didnt add up and especially when i had only applied 3 days prior to where i was now. I got home and after researching a little more i found Primus UK Ltd was affiliated with the known Cobra scam and soon all became apparent. I had been filled with a false sense of confidence and ability to achieve merely to be accepted as part of a scam where people RECRUITED, not hired, were doctrined and brain washed into thinking they were achieving on a path to future management while really they were solely on commision based work with up to 70 or more hours a week, no benefits and overall a false sense of success. It was helped along by the rapport forced to be made by you and your mentor who would then become your project leader and take commission on all sales you were responsible for aswell as the 'managers' that you were so called 'trained' to be.

The sad thing was the people who worked there seemed assured they would be making their way soon and they were leading a succesfull career although it was apparent they would all socialise together as the extreme working hours and false sense of success had bred a 'Cult' feel to the whole operation.

I am shocked these organisations are able to advertise themselves on such online sites as the one i found it on and it appears they spam a series of them and seem to get away with it. I would apologise for the rant but honestly i just dont believe it is or maybe if you disagree at least very well deserved as I found the whole experience personally quite damaging and i didnt even turn up to accept this 'job' and can only imagine how much more unlucky other people have been to be sucked along any further than i was. I dearly hope anyone wishing for information on Primus UK Ltd or its sister groups, as there are many which are essentially the same, take note of this experience and make sure it helps them determining it true aims.

Been there done that... exactly the same procedure as described in the long previous post. The room as described is identical to the one i been to but the only thing different is the company name... I was called by G-Force Marketing Ltd and the company we been doing door to door sales was for St Ann's Hospice.

The funny thing was the fact that someone from the other "candidates" was in fact an undercover reported who issued his article in the newspaper in Manchester.

its a NO NO NO NO NO!!!! basic pyramid scheme - scam company structure and way of recruiting. If you want more information or even the article from the newspaper reply to this post and i will send it to you....

Dont waste your time, I was fortunate enough to read the forum and realised its same company I have  seconde interview for tomorrow! First Interview lasted 15 mins max, and it was general chit chat, and the office was so untidy!   The waiting area had music blasting out, like some disco, and to finally realise its a door-to-door sales job with worldwide offices lol. A big Scam, the office is based in Manchester city centre.

im currently employed by primus...by that i mean i go to the office daily and work for about 10 hours a day... been there 3 weeks and its costing me more in travel from home to 'work' and also from work to the field than im making. first promotion in 4-6 weeks i dont think so. im more than likely leaving there tomorrow as unemployment doesnt cost as much!! tbh if you dont mind the hours and doing pure  self motivated door to door its fantastic but this company is basicaly a piramid scheme of employment... oh and the reason for all the different company names is because once you get to a certain point you basicaly start your own ltd company which they organise for you. on the whole its not a bad place to work but its not for me or alot of people.

After reading through the extensive list of people who were given this phone call / email I have decided to not bother turning up for any part of their interview process. This is not a long term employment opportunity but a scheme where you earn all the money for the company, you get a tiny scrap to keep you going in commission. And still your not employed by them, paid a salary or where they re-imburse you your travel costs, thats right you must pay your own fare to get to the different towns to do 'Marketing'.

I had an interview earlier from a similar company not sure if its related, 3D organisation and Paramount Force both based in Manchester City Centre. They prey on young and naive people but I was able to quickly see through their BS.

Selling similar cr@p services to public. You must ask yourself if they can treat their own staff like this then they must treat other clients in a worse way.

    Hi all you young hopefulls,
I am a 42 year old professional, my daughter rang me to try and find the address for her on the internet and low and behold I have researched hundreds of comments about PRIMUS and all very similar.
Very negative company, looking to benefit from young ambitious eager individuals.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not fall fall this blatant SCAM, read and believe or learn by your own mistakes, work for peanuts or nothing at all, then dont blame others for calling you a MONKEY.
    Hope this helps....

    Mr James
Recieved email today from them and checked their website.Would like to thank all who took the time to contribute to warn others of this dodgy operation.I have been trying for over a year and a half to get a job(54 male and first time other than when a miner been out of work) and its depressing enough getting so many no letters only this is even worse as it raises your hopes and expectations falsely.

Would also suggest its worth going onto the Companies House website(all companies have to register there) and you can see if they are legit and whether they are trading or not.

Good luck to you all with your job hunting and hope life brings you peace and happiness

I had an email this morning offering me preliminary interview tomorrow at leicester, jumped for joy as I am unemployed and phoned number immediately.  Phone answered by man who had sent email who asked me to dress smart and bring in another copy of CV just as first person had been advised to do.  He is going to email me when his computer is back up.  After reading this thread don't think I am going to - preying on people desperate for employment.  At least I haven't wasted expensive fuel on driving to Leicester tomorrow.

I'm so glad I read this. I've just had the same experience, although I was only at the first interview stage. Was about to book a train ticket to Manchester when I discovered this chain and everything sort of fell into place.

This company is now claiming that they are partnered with Bourbon Creations, which is who I applied to. I was rather surprised to get a response from Primus, but was told that this was the same company.

Beware people, Bourbon Creations does not exist.
