Thank you so much guys! Applied for a job as Trainee Promotions Manager via Reed today (reed again eh? you'd think they would stop these people putting their adds on). Got a call from 01612001118 same old crap as previously mentioned "manager has reviewed your CV.... come for interview tomorrow...blah blah blah". I don't think I'll be going anywhere!!!!!!!!

im so glad i put the company address into google otherwise i would av turned up 2moz at 3 4 an interview with james goodrick. id be wastin my well deserved day off thanks 2 whoever started this page.

ive got an interview here tomorrow. somehow dont think ill be attendng that one! thought they were too eager!! All seems ike like a box of one eyed frogs to me!

Yeah exactly the same experience!! They kept calling and emailing till I gave in and went this morning..missed a whole day at university. Spent money on train tickets and taxi fares to get to Dickinson house. Got there and they took me in a room for ten minutes to say hello. That was it!! Dragged me all the way there to say Hello. When i started asking questions about the company the guy James Goodrich had no idea..it is a JOKE and prob a scam of some sort.

To anyone reading this AVOID this company at all costs!!!!!

went to the first interview today cost me money and time. got the phone call tonight and i am glad i researched this. im in desperate need of a job and getting my hopes up with this is a real let down.
my number was 101 at the end and 100 later on got it from the reed website

I was called today by both Castle Road Marketing and 4ward Promotions, neither of them have a website, they have the same address and only 1 digit different in their phone numbers; do they think we're stupid? After googling them I certainly will not be attending either interview, they have swamped the job sites with their ads :(

It's like a building of dodgy companies!  I wonder if you can be the secretary and move from room to room haha.  Yeah, load of trollop basically.  I had one from Bradford Marketing Ltd, same building, different suite number and the telephone number ends in a 1 instead of a 4.  I don't know why they claim to have read my cv, because if they had then they would realise I am intelligent enough not to go to an interview so why waste their time on me !

There is no 'heavy study' required before hand. We just want you to check out our website before and see what we are doing with the company at the moment.

Where we are:

We are located in Central Manchester, just near Oxford Road Station, and St Peter's Square Tram Station. If you come down the main road through Manchester, Portland Street, we are the last turn on the right before you hit the crossroads with Oxford Road. As for landmarks, we are near the Novotel Hotel. Any issues with finding us, just give us a ring.

First of all, notice how Mr Heyes has put MD at the end of his title....now I could be wrong but that would mean he's a doctor right?....MA would mean a masters degree which would be more plausible. I'm sure having MD at the end of your title would include being Dr at the beginning, NOT Mr.

Secondly, I too looked at the website he referred me to and it was extremely vague indeed. The red flag was raised when my mum ask "so whats the interview for?"....I couldn't give her an answer.

Thirdly, (which is something no one else seems to have mentioned yet) he tried putting a new spin on it "all our interview spots are full but I could fit you in the next day as we liked your application". This is a sales technique I have seen before, trying to make me feel special. Beware if they use this technique with you.

Fourthly, without going into too much detail, on my CV it clearly states I was in a similar job before and stuck it out for 2 weeks. If they had looked at my CV like they said they had then they would've seen my past attempt in a similar job which I ended abruptly. Which would logically steer them away from trying to hire me surely??? Not too bright.

Finally, I have worked in sales before and it is true you have to be a certain type of person to do it. And it is true you learn the 'Jones Theory', 'Fear of Loss', 'Law of Averages', and you high-five every sodding morning while having hardcore dance music blared at you.

These sort of companies are legal as they are actually selling something. The one I used to work for was very well set up and very official. It was very well run with official website and office and company structure. This Mr (or Dr) Heyes has set this company up very poorly indeed.

However it is also correct that to succeed you need to abandom morals, conscience, and ability to tell the truth. Its a job where you succeed by lying to get your own way. Not rewarding to those who are good people. I'm not sure how it works here in UK but in New Zealand if you work for one of these companies as an 'Independant Contractor' you don't pay income tax for whatever reason as you are technically self-employed. But the percentage you keep from your sales is pittyful to say the least.

To conclude, these job positions aren't scams in the legal sense, but they are using good people to work rediculous hours for unrealistic pay. Stay well clear of these companies.

I wish she did and i had listened to her from the start!

Im so glad i found all this out, i had an interveiw last monday and everything seemed to go great, at about half 4 i got called back saying id made it to the second round of interveiws, i was so happy and excited just for getting that far.
I got told nothing about this second interveiw, nothing to prepare myself so i was just like right ok and went with it.
On the day i was told to be there for 9.15, i then spoke to a young girl who was only in her 20's she was in the "3rd phase" dealing with HR etc.

I knew you could move up quickly, but really this quick?

She then told us that we would be going in to stafford to a service station too sell victoria jackson makeup, i love makeup and i love selling stuff so i was like wow great yeah, through the day she asked us a series of questions like our strenghts and weeknesses and told us about theese "8 steps" and then the 5 steps to selling.

When we got back to the office we had to fill out a questionare about the day and the 8 step etc, oh and the LOA (law of averages)
I then had another interveiw with the GM, who offerd me the job stright away, i was soo happy and proud!

My mum kept saying she didnt like the sound of this job, but i didnt listen.
I was not told anything about being self employed, doing my own taxes and NI.

Im ment to start work tommrow, am i going in? Erm nope :)
Im glad i didnt quit my other job!

4ward Promotions Dickinson Street Manchester, what a [***] liberty!!

My daughter has just had an experience with 4ward Promotions. Made to work stupid hours and cover her own costs out of the city.

This is not a self employed job in any sense of the word, and they should be at least paying Minimum Wage. You do not control your stock, have to make up losses, decide when and where you work, send someone else to do the work for you. Luckily I work for the HMRC and I have forwarded the details to the National Minimum wage avidance team. If it is all above board they have nothing to worry about.

I had the exact same thing happen to me, I feel so stupid that I let myself do it.

Same story here, I turned up for the interview and was a bit surprised when everyone seemed so young. After filling in a standard form I had a 5 minute interview (at most!) and was left completely confused. This was partly due to the manager speaking at 200mph and also the fact that he dodged or completely failed to answer any of my questions. I was also told I could be fully trained and at the top of the ladder in 6/8 months... They must have known I was suspicious but I still received an invite for an interview on thesecond day. Needless to say I didn't go!

It was for their graduate scheme, has anyone had any experience in this area?? Not liking the sound of being self employed and doing my own taxes....some more help would be good please, meant to be going for a second interview on friday and contemplating not going now!!
